Tales of Demons and Gods: Xiao Ning'Er

After an epic battle with the Sage Emperor, Xiao Ning'Er's worst nightmare comes to pass when she sees the brutal death of her love, Nie Li, right before her eyes. They had fought bravely but despite her best efforts, she could do nothing as she saw the Sage Emperor's divine spear burst through Nie Li's chest in an explosion of blood. As the gruesome scene was played out, she felt an intense pain in her chest as her hopes and dreams were crushed in one brief moment. She turned to the Sage Emperor as an uncontrollable fury rose in her heart, channeling all the remaining soul force in her soul realm into the deadly sword in her hand. Her sword looked like a bolt of lightning, writhing like an enraged python, and her eyes glowed with a blinding white light as she fluttered in the air like a storm goddess. She flew faster than a speeding arrow towards the Sage Emperor, releasing her final attack, not caring if she survived or not. As her consciousness faded away, she knew she had failed but before she closed her eyes forever, she saw an unusual green entity fly into her chest. "That's strange", she thought, "it looks a bit like a vine", before all her reasoning disappeared into a blissful nothingness. ________________________________________ Author's Note: Tales of Demons and Gods was the first webnovel that I fell in love with. While the author proceeds at his 'incredible' pace, I've decided to let my mind wander and create a new storyline, building on the same world and concepts.

Eve of the Doomsday

Eve Ziffer always believed that one day her nano-machines would save humanity. It needed to be saved—from pollution, from the climate change, from the wars. Yet in the end, her research instead turned out to be the thing that pushed it into the very abyss. After surviving an attack and waking up from a six-years long coma that followed, Eve opens her eyes to see the world changed beyond recognition. Walking corpses roam the streets, and humans fight them with swords and superpowers. Now Eve is the only person able to finish her own work and fix the nano-machines that brought this devastation. Whether the last vestiges of mankind would disappear, or would the human race rise like a phoenix from the ashes—all lies in hands of Eve and the people she will meet along the way. They will fight and they will scheme and they will talk, because human vices are adversaries as bad as the zombies; and trials of friendship and love can be as perilous as any battle. ===================== Victor leaned towards her face, burning her with his glare. “No.” “I’m doing this for myself, for you and for science. Any single one of these reasons is enough to keep disagreeing with you.” Victor’s eyes dropped to her lips. ‘There is more than a single way to dominate a person…’ Before he could even try to stop himself, he dived in, pressing his lips on hers. His hand grabbed the back of Eve’s head, another fell on Eve’s thin waist and followed the alluring lines of her figure to her hip. His body was burning with inner fire. Eve was too shocked to think. She never expected for this standoff to end like it did. Victor kissed her as if he wanted to eat her. His bites stung, but his lips soothed. The heat of his hand burned her skin even through clothes. Then Eve finally regained her sanity. She drove her knee into Victor’s groin. He gasped and bended in pain, letting Eve go. Before he could resist, she continued the combo with a strike to the back of his head and a submission hold on his arm. “What are you doing?! I should’ve listened to Xia better. Men really are worse than dogs! How did I miss the moment when your brain had turned into mush, Victor?” “I didn’t think that I would need to spell it out, but there can be no romantic interactions in work time, and no romantic relations between researchers and test subjects. More than that, I’m not interested!” ==================== [Status: completed] Warning! My Rage For All

Izuku just got back the results of his quirk test. The four-year-old boy sat waiting in anticipation with a small figurine of All Might, the Number One Hero. He wasn't holding on to it very tightly as to not repeat what happened this morning. He still felt bad about the bathroom door handle... "Your Quirk is...a strange one, honestly. I can't even say I know what it's main purpose is." Izuku sat there in confusion. He looked down at the blue/black layer of skin that seemed to fade into his regular skin tone. From his shoulders down to his elbows, his skin was black with a blue tint. It went across his chest and upper back, continuing down to just above his ribcage. The bridge of his nose and the corners of his eyes were the same color. All in all, it looked like someone had painted the boy's skin in the affected areas. Even so, Izuku could feel no difference in how his skin usually felt. It was like he had always been like this. Izuku looked back up at the doctor, who sighed at the mystery of the boy's Quirk. "Scans have shown that his body is over five times as dense as a regular civilian's. His bones, his muscles, and even his skin tissue have this shared change in density. It's almost like every individual cell in his body is armored." Izuku got excited from the doctor's report. The room brightened as he gave his biggest smile. The doctor chuckled at the kid's energy. "As for parts of his skin changing color to what you see now, we're a little stumped. He allowed us to take a small sample and we found that it's a layer of blood that seems to have fused with his skin. It seems to have no Ill effects, but we can't figure out why it even happened. I recommend you and your son just keep an eye out for anything irregular, Ms. Midoriya." The woman nodded to the doctor, giving him a short bow as she and her son got up to leave. The doctor called out one last thing before the pair left. "Remember to give your Quirk a good name, young man!"
