The Eyes of Rebellion Part 1

Itama and Hideyoshi calmly approached the barrier control point. It was a building they were intimately familiar with, considering the two of them were on the village's police force. It was because of their knowledge of its internal logic that they managed to bypass its checks during their earlier assassination.

The building itself was relatively small and inconspicuous. Rather than the security measures protecting a large, reinforced tower, the entire reinforced barrier compound was underground. Not only did it obfuscate the building's location, but it also made connecting it to the different barrier nodes much easier, since both were underground.

Having walked down the long set of stairs inside the shell building above ground, they approached the two guards who protected the interior facility. They were two special jonin, dressed in ANBU clothing.

Seeing their approach, the one on the left asked, "You two relieving us?" Then he paused. "Wait. Aren't you supposed to relax this week, especially with all the hours you've been putting in?"

Hideyoshi nodded. "We are. Our wives are packing for a short trip and didn't need us anymore, so we made a deal with the boss. We do one last shift today and she'll give us two weeks off."

Itama gave a tired sigh and shook his head.

"Seriously, they had us running around all day. You'd think two former jonin like them could pull some of the heavy lifting, but noo~; they have to ask us to do it Every. Single. Time." He complained dramatically.

The guard on the right snorted in amusement.

"Sucks to be you." He chuckled. "That's why the single life is the way to go. Marriage is too much of a bother.

Itama simply shrugged in response.

"At least we can get laid without a kunai under our pillow." He joked.

The guard on the right took mock offense.

"Hey! That's a low blow! Most of us normal folk aren't blessed with 'natural grace'!" He crossed his arms. "Seriously, what I would've given to be born an Uchiha."

*Chuckle* The group chuckled at the jest.

Although the two Uchihas joked with the group, unbeknownst to the guards, their hands were trembling. At any other time, the jest would've been genuinely funny. At any other time, this conversation would've been a beacon in their bleak existences.

Today though…

"OK. OK. Here, let me sign us in Itama. You stay here with the guys." Hideyoshi said. He turned to the guards. "Is Commander Rat inside?"

The left guard nodded.

"Yeah. She's in the control room. Nothing new."

Hideyoshi nodded.

"Got it. I'll be right back" He replied.

While Itama resumed talking to the guards, Hideyoshi placed his hand on the sealed door. As soon as his hand made contact, an ink-made diamond with numerous kanji inscribed around it appeared where his palm lay. It glowed in a soft white light. A moment later, the color changed to green.

Then, he was gone in a flash, teleported inside.

The truth of this base is that this area is a ruse. The reality is that there is no entrance to the barrier control point. It was only enterable via either a user of the flying thunder god with an active jutsu shiki inside or someone whose chakra is recognized by the seal Hideyoshi just used. It's not just a chakra sample either, it's a signature using someone's entire chakra system. Once recognized, they will then be teleported inside via a stationary flying thunder god seal.

Appearing inside, Hideyoshi calmly walked down a short corridor to find the control room. It wasn't a large facility, having only a few rooms. After all, it wasn't meant for socializing. Unless you were on monitoring duty, a barrier engineer, or a guard, no one else is supposed to be here. In most cases, there will only ever be one person inside at a time.

Inside, a short ANBU girl sat cross-legged at the center of a large circle constructed with numerous kanji on the inner layer and an intricate pattern on the outer layer. This was the village's multilayer, multitype barrier seal core.

The girl's eyes were closed, clearly focusing on her task.

"Hey Rat. Itama and I are checking in." Hideyoshi stated casually, causing the girl's closed eyes to twitch.

Clearly irritated, her eyes opened, glaring at him.

"What have I told you about reporting in properly? Are we seriously on this shit again?" She rebuked.

Smirking at the expected response, Hideyoshi's eyes flash crimson, immediately taking on a unique pattern, two black triangles, one inside of the other with no central pupil.

Before rat could even react, the form of her eyes changed, mirroring his.

"Kotoamatsukami"

*Heartbeat*

"AARRRGGG" Hideyoshi screamed in pain as a stream of blood poured out of his left eye. Immediately, the pattern in his left eye, disappeared, replaced by a regular three tomoe sharingan, though the color was a little faded.

While Hideyoshi got acquainted with the consequences of his god-like power, rat once again closed her eyes.

"Initiating emergency shutdown of barrier. Approving authority: Rat, Barrier Team Commanding Officer. Reason: Discovery of barrier error that could threaten the safety of Konoha citizens. Password ****** ***** Execute." She monotonally stated.

Overtly, nothing changed, but Hideyoshi could feel it. The barely noticeable film around the village was losing power.

"Activating new barrier: Chakra-Sensor Dampening Barrier. Connecting barrier to village amplifier nodes. Approving authority: Rat, Barrier Team Commanding Officer. Reason: Discovery of barrier error that could threaten the safety of Konoha citizens. Password ****** ***** Execute."

Without the ability to use chakra to sense their surroundings, the Uchiha would have a better element of surprise. Better yet, without the ability to sense jutsu shiki using chakra… the flying thunder god would be effectively neutralized. Konoha's God of Shinobi would once more become human.

"Disabling control seal without disabling active barriers. Reason: Belief of incoming invasion. In the event that the barrier facility is compromised, the barrier can't be taken down or edited. Approving authority: Rat, Barrier Team Commanding Officer. Reason: Discovery of impending invasion that could threaten the integrity of the barrier. Password ****** ***** Execute."

Once she was done, rat reached for her head, grabbing her chin and the back of her head, and quickly twisted, snapping her own neck.

"*Pant* Good *Pant* Now, it's *pant* time for the next *pant* phase, but first *pant*… a rest." Hideyoshi sat down in the control room, exhausted from using such a powerful ability for the first time, though from the understanding provided to his unconscious mind when he unlocked his new eyes, he knew that such a power would be unavailable for the next decade, such is the godlike power of Kotoamatsukami.

While he didn't want to use such a valuable ability now, using it was the only way to smoothly remove the barrier and easily achieve their clan's goals without hassle. They may be barrier guard, but they weren't experts at barrier operation. Rat, however, was and with her being completely loyal to Konoha, Kotoamatsukami's ability to change someone's decision-making process was vital.

(With the guards)

Feeling the film disappear over the village, the gazes of the guards, snapped to the sky, their senses having felt it.

"The barrier!" The left guard shouted.

"Hurry! Let's get inside! Something must've happened!" The other hurriedly replied.

The two, freaking out, turned to the door, seeking to be teleported inside the control room.

Before they could touch the door though, two blades of sickly yellow chakra impaled them, severing everything from the waist to the neck due to their size. The unlucky guards didn't even have time to turn their heads before darkness claimed them.

Itama just stood there, mangekyou revealed and bleeding from the strain of manifesting his armored guardian. Unlike his joking self from earlier, his demeanor was grave, any levity from before had disappeared as if it'd never been there.

As he gazed on his former comrades in arms, salty tears mixed with blood as waves of sorrow hit him like a truck. Still, his gaze was firm, his conviction long since solidifying.

There was no going back. The Uchiha would rise again.

(Elsewhere)

In the middle of Konoha, multiple figures positioned themselves at key points in the village. Some were near the gates, while others were at the hospital, academy, provision storage points, and more.

Suddenly, they all felt the collapse of the barrier.

At the same time, their eyes flashed to the same ocular pattern, a black-hole-like swirl in a red iris. They were all shadow clones, specifically Kirai Uchiha's. Although it wasn't obvious due to its silent effects, their mangekyou ability had long since been deployed.

"Scorch Release: Incinerating Flare!" They called out. Above each of them, white hot orbs of intense heat formed and expanded to incredible ranges. The heat burst outward, incinerating anyone or anything unlucky enough to be in range. Each flare bloomed out for 100 yards in diameter, creating massive craters filled with slowly disintegrating husks.

Scorch release showed its overwhelming power here. Anything it touched instantly vaporized. People turned to husks; buildings turned to molten slag; the earth pooled with lava. Nothing stood a chance within the immediate blast radius.

A cacophony of screams rang from the streets below as those just outside the blast suffered extreme burns from the residual heat alone. Crowds ran, desperate to escape, while shinobi caught off guard did their best to figure out what the hell was going on. Well, if they weren't already burnt that is.

Seeing their work was done and now out of chakra, the clones all dispelled, relaying their success to the original.

(Elsewhere)

Hearing their signal of screams, Zena and Lisa body-flickered just outside the Uchiha compound. Without preamble, Zena cut her finger and slammed her hand on the ground.

"Summoning Jutsu!" Emerging from the newly formed plume of smoke was a house-sized black cat.

Without needing to be told, it rolled out its tongue, revealing a bound, gagged, and incapacitated tan-skinned kunoichi. She was short, had neck-length, mint green hair, and orange eyes. Her outfit consisted of a short sleeveless white midriff shirt with fishnet armor underneath, long white armlets, and fishnet shorts with a short white apron skirt over it. A Waterfall Village forehead protector was worn on her right arm.

One thing to note was the blank stare in the girl's eyes. Although she was awake, her mind wasn't her own. Rather, she laid there like a doll.

Lisa's hand touched the girl's exposed abdomen. Channeling chakra into it, a complex seal appeared. Seeing it, Lisa activated her newly awakened mangekyou and focused them on the seal.

"Ame-no-Uzume" She called out.

At the command, the seal's ink slowly pooled together, forming a large hole on the girl's abdomen. As it happened, blood streamed down Lisa's eyes. The sclera burned like fire, its growing red color almost completely overtaking the white.

Now fully formed, from the hole, an enormous volume of chakra exploded into the atmosphere. For a few seconds, the floodgates released gallons of super concentrated chakra at speeds that would dwarf the fastest of rapids. Fortunately for the two rebels, their mind domination over the captured jinchuriki kept her from expressing the pain one would normally feel from this process.

Quickly, the released chakra pooled into the air, forming a massive rhinoceros beetle with six tails resembling green insect wings, along with an actual seventh fully formed tail; all seven grew from the end of its abdomen. The stem of the tail is green, but the wings are orange. Its eyes are covered by a helmet-like skull, from inside of which, an orange glow can be seen. It also has spike protrusions on its shoulders and a row of slits on each shoulder, and six legs, three on each side. The legs are also covered by the blue armor, except for the extreme ends which are green in color. It has two pincers with three parts on its face, covering a mouth full of sharp teeth. On its back, behind its head, it has a large two sectioned horned protrusion.

Zena, seeing their target almost fully formed, quickly dashed in front of it, her eyes shifting into her unique mangekyou pattern.

Immediately, the orange glow behind the beast's visor turned into a soft crimson, its concealed eyes having mirrored hers.

With a booming voice, she commanded, "Seven Tails, take flight high into the sky, rampage, and destroy the village! Show them the full might of the Uchiha!"

*SCREECH*

In response, a high pitch screech boomed across Konoha, shattering any window unfortunate enough to be within proximity, and tolling the true beginning of the rebellion.
