The wind was blowing, and Kikyo Castle was buzzing with excitement. The first round of the third stage of the Chunin Exam was starting: Uzumaki Naruto vs. Nara Shikamaru.

Sasuke stood in the stands, watching closely. Over the past month, he had trained hard with Kakashi and gotten much stronger. He had asked Kakashi about Naruto, and Kakashi told him not to worry since Naruto had a new teacher too.

"Naruto, let me see how much you've improved under Jiraiya, one of the Legendary Sannin!" Sasuke glanced at Gaara, his own opponent, but he wasn't concerned about Naruto's battle with Shikamaru.

The fight began!

Naruto charged forward without hesitation, moving so fast that even Shikamaru was surprised.

"What? He's not using Shadow Clones to test me first?"

Shikamaru had watched Naruto's battles before and knew he usually used the Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu. He didn't expect Naruto to rush in recklessly.

"Shadow Imitation Technique!"

Shikamaru formed a seal, and his shadow stretched towards Naruto with a buzzing sound.

Swish!

Naruto was quick and threw a kunai at Shikamaru. Shikamaru stepped back, the kunai stuck in the ground, interrupting his jutsu. At the same time, Naruto was already in front of him and punched him hard in the stomach.

Shikamaru fell to the ground, feeling the pain surge through his body. Naruto picked up the kunai, put it away, and smiled at Shikamaru lying on the ground. Shikamaru gritted his teeth, took out a kunai with an explosive tag, and threw it at Naruto. Naruto tilted his head, caught the kunai, spun around, and threw it aside.

Bang!

The explosive tag went off, and Shikamaru used the chance to distance himself from Naruto, quickly running into the grove.

"Is this a good strategy? But Shikamaru, I know what you're thinking!" Naruto gathered a Rasengan in his palm, making it bigger and adding wind chakra to it.

"Rasengan? What's Naruto doing with Rasengan now?" Sakura asked in surprise. She wondered why Naruto hadn't used his best shadow clone technique yet.

"What is that?" Kakashi showed his Sharingan in surprise.

Sasuke, Gaara, and others looked on in shock.

The Rasengan in Naruto's hand grew larger, with tiny wind chakra swirling in it. Although Naruto couldn't fully mix the wind chakra, he had created a prototype of the Rasenshuriken.

"Wind Style: Giant Rasengan!"

Naruto threw it towards Shikamaru. The giant Rasengan flew directly at him.

"He actually threw the Rasengan!" Sakura shouted in surprise.

Ino covered her mouth in shock. Naruto had gotten much stronger. If this continued, Shikamaru would lose. None of Shikamaru's strategies were working.

"What!" Shikamaru couldn't believe it. He quickly jumped from the tree and ran from the grove.

Boom...

The giant Rasengan exploded. Naruto kept creating and throwing Wind Style Rasengan at Shikamaru.

Bang! Bang...

The Rasengan kept exploding. This move was the prototype of the Rasenshuriken. It didn't have the cutting power of the Rasenshuriken, but it was still a strong long-range attack jutsu.

As for the chakra it used, Naruto didn't care.

Shikamaru was hiding, trying to avoid the attacks. "Naruto has such a move. My strategy is useless. I have to attack."

While dodging, Shikamaru took out a smoke bomb, circled the venue, and returned to the grove, throwing the smoke bomb on the ground.

Smoke filled the air. Naruto stopped, frowning.

Naruto's clone threw Wind Style Rasengan, moving forward. Everything in sight was hit and destroyed.

"No, he's not here?" Naruto's clone was surprised, seeing a mess of wood.

Suddenly, Naruto's clone saw a deep pit created by the Rasengan. His face changed, and he froze.

From the pit, Shikamaru lifted the transformation jutsu and walked out. His shadow connected with the clone's shadow.

Shikamaru wiped sweat from his face and said lazily, "Huh... The shadow imitation technique worked. It's not easy catching you, Naruto!"

"You used the transformation jutsu to turn into a rock and hide in the hole I made!" Naruto's clone said.

"That's right. I didn't want to get hit by your jutsu. Now the match is decided!"

"Yeah, the match is decided!"

Shikamaru felt a cool touch on the back of his neck. Naruto appeared behind him with a kunai.

The shadow clone caught by Shikamaru smiled and disappeared in a puff of smoke.

"I lost, Naruto. Ino was right. You've changed a lot. I did my best, but I couldn't beat you!" Shikamaru said.

Shiranui Genma announced, "The winner is Uzumaki Naruto!"

Naruto put away his kunai and waved to the cheering audience.

Sarutobi Hiruzen praised, "Naruto has improved a lot, and Shikamaru has also reached the required level!"

"Hmph, Lord Hokage, let's continue the matches!" The Fourth Kazekage looked at Naruto, clearly annoyed.

After Naruto advanced, the next match was Kankuro vs. Aburame Shino.

However, the Sand Village had other plans. Kankuro didn't want to show his strength, so he forfeited. Aburame Shino advanced, and the third match was between Temari and Hyuga Neji.
