Geared Up for a Change

"Lucas Leedon, you'd better have a damn good reason for spamming my phone at 4 am!" Jon's voice thundered through the phone.

Lucas promptly held the phone away from his ear to protect his eardrums.

Once Jon's initial outburst had subsided, Lucas cautiously brought the phone back to his ear..

"Hey, hey! Are you actually falling asleep on me after waking me up with those 23 freaking calls?" Jon's voice came through again, filled with annoyance.

"Jon, I've got something important to ask you," Lucas persisted.

Jon rolled his eyes, even though Lucas couldn't see it. "Important enough to disturb my beauty sleep? Can't it wait until morning?"

"Nope, can't wait," Lucas asserted.

"Fine, go ahead! What's on your mind?" Jon relented.

"How can I make a girl fall in love with me?" Lucas asked, his tone carrying a hint of desperation.
