My Friend and I Reincarnated Into a Tragedy Dating Game

So I've been playing this shitty dating game along with my friend. Why is it shitty? Well, none of the damn endings are happy! You're destined to get a sad ending no matter what choices you make. But for some reason, we couldn't stop ourselves from talking about it or searching for some other ending. Ah... but I guess it doesn't matter since both of us died saving some random people we never met. ...Wait, why did I reincarnate into the villain of the shitty dating game? And my friend reincarnated as the hero? Is this... a good thing? Fuck, Nathan why are you beating yourself up? We need to make a real plan here!

Overkill

Risking my life on a whim was rather foolish, all things considered. However, doing things logically rarely ever leads to surprising outcomes. And all things considered, getting out of this without any crippling injuries would probably be one of those surprising outcomes.

Yet, as though this was something I had done my entire life, I reached one hand outwards, almost without even realizing it. All the mana around me was attuned specifically one way, meaning I didn't have to do anything complicated like splitting my focus and working on several different kinds at the same time as I once did in that mage tower.

Whereas that time was much harder than just extracting mana out of individual crystals, this was far easier.

I attempted to pull on the mana myself, almost like I was tugging at it. Though while I wasn't failing to do so, the pull from the Nycthorian simply outclassed me. In the first place, he was already attuned with that mana, so it wasn't a fair match.
