Some time after dinner.
In little Jia's room.
"Baby, are you feeling pain anywhere?" Wan Jia asked the little girl in her arms.
"Where do you feel uncomfortable? Can you tell Daddy?" Lu Aotian asked patiently. The little girl seemed to be very tired but still wouldn't sleep even after he and Wan Jia had tried coaxing her for over two hours.
To make it worse, she simply remained quiet and wouldn't answer them no matter how many times they asked. Lu Aotian dramatically massaged his temples and called Little Jia's personal doctor over.
"Is the little miss feeling unwell?" asked Doctor Cui.
Lu Aotian glared at him. "Why else do you think I would need to call you over?" he was already in a very bad mood worrying about his daughter. This man was just making it worse. This Doctor Cui was very talented in pediatrics. He was among the most remarkable pediatricians in the world and had won several awards in the field despite his fairly young age.
However, all his titles and achievements aside, he was quite a chatterbox. Apart from giving extra detailed information about every little thing including those complicated medical terms and their explanation, he would ask the most irrelevant questions making one wonder, how did he even have enough time to study if all he did was talk? At least his written books about medical knowledge were pretty helpful to students studying the course.
Thanks to his ability, many high end hospitals had tried to employ him before in vain. Probably only Lu Aotian was able to make such a man his daughter's personal pediatrician in the whole country.
"I'll run the tests on little Miss." The man said, to Lu Aotian's delight.
"How strange, she neither has a change in temperature nor pulse."
"How's that possible? Can't you see how pale she looks?" Wan Jia rebutted. She was so worried that she was about to cry. Seeing little Jia looking so unwell, she couldn't help but feel her heart ache.
"That's indeed the result, cough" Doctor Cui looked nervous. "Say, how did little miss spend the day?" he nervously asked Lu Aotian who was giving him a murderous glare.
"We went to the theme park." He answered coldly.
"Which theme...cough, I mean, did she eat anything or drink anything unhealthy?"
"Cotton candy and a few snacks she has eaten before."
"I see, I see…and how long did she play? Did she interact with other children unsupervised? You see, she may have made a few friends who shared their food with her. Children are such kind creatures after all, and she may have eaten something that caused an allergic reaction or food poisoning." all doctor Cui could do now was question the parents since the child would not speak no matter what.
Wan Jia looked at Lu Aotian. "I was with her the whole afternoon." For every kids ride, there was a zone nearby where parents would sit and watch the young ones play.
"All afternoon" doctor Cui muttered. "That long? Does that mean she played all afternoon? Did she take any breaks?"
"If one or two minutes after every ride counts."
"That's it. The little miss is tired from playing too much and may be a little dehydrated. Taking warm milk will help induce sleep." No wonder she felt uncomfortable but didn't have any visible changes. She had never played that much all her life.
Both Wan Jia and Lu Aotian heaved huge sighs in relief when she drank her milk and drifted off to sleep. They stayed a little longer and made sure there were no signs of discomfort on her face before they left.
"Aotian, I'm still a little worried." Wan Jia said when they were in her room.
"Don't think too much about it. Doctor Cui is staying over in case of any emergency." He held her in his arms and comforted her. Of course, the fatigue was just a speculation. He would not simply make an assumption either, unless she was really proven to be a hundred percent alright.
She thought about it and decided it was best to tell him. "The thing is, I didn't have the chance to tell you this before but…well…my gynecologist once said that Little Jia might possibly have a weak immune system. I'm afraid that…"
Although she could not complete her statement, Lu Aotian understood her. She was afraid that Little Jia may have contracted something serious.
"But her immunity turned out strong in the end. I had several tests run on her when she was little and the doctor said she was in fact stronger than other children."
"You knew about it?" she was surprised.
"Of course. My baby was on her way to this world. How could I not ask about your check up results? Your gynecologist kept me updated." She smiled at his thoughtfulness. She had thought that he didn't ever care about her pregnancy and only cared for her to deliver the baby and hand it over. Now that she thought about it, the hospital was just a little above average but they took special delicate care of her like a VIP, yet still charged her the same fee as regular patients. She had thought that that was how they treated all their regular patients…
"Since the worst didn't happen then there shouldn't be any problem, right?"
"Mmh," he thought about something. "If it will make you feel more assured and safe, how about we take her for a full body check up tomorrow?"
"Indeed, you understand me the most. You always know what I have in mind."
