Chapter 58 Saving Lisanna

Year 782

Seeing that Erza had completed a few S class quests, Mirajane becomes frustrated and decides to take a dangerous S class mission to keep up with Erza. Because of only thinking about winning against Erza she decided that she only needs to take Elfman and Lisanna with her.

As I saw her taking the quest and getting out of the city, I turned towards Master.

"I will make sure to keep an eye on them"

"Alright, since you say you are getting a bad feeling, I suppose its best for you to follow them" Master replied

I made sure to follow them on their quest to take care of an S class beast who was turning into a demon. At a distance I saw them confronting the demon. At the beginning they were able to fight back against the beast and hold it down due to their teamwork but as the time went on, the beast began to show its characteristic that made it an S class. The beast had a very high level of stamina and because of which as time went by the Strauss siblings became weaker while the beast remained as just as strong

And finally, when it seemed like the beast was about to defeat them Elfman decided to absorb the beast with his take over magic thereby trapping the beast inside him. Elfman was successful, but the beast was too strong and its animalistic tendencies took over him immediately and he was not able to control the beast form.

He then began attacking the other two and Mirajane managed to hold him back but was again overpowered. Then Lisanna tries to stop Elfman by trying to make him remember about their bonds but it was unsuccessful and just as Beast Elfman was about to strike Lisanna, suddenly he stopped and fell to one side and became immovable immediately.

Mirajane and Lisanna was shocked when they saw what happened. They were not able to realise what happened just now

One minute Elfman was about to strike Lisanna and the next moment he became still as a statue and fell down. Both of them then saw an arrow sticking out of his shoulder and it looked weirdly shaped. The point was held by a snake's head and half of the shaft was a curved zig zag shape representing the rest of the snake.

"the Nagastra was something I got in one of my missions with its primary objective is to paralyze the victim with respect to the amount of magic put in it" hearing the familiar sound, both of them turned around to see the one who was the youngest ever to earn the S class wizard title and one among the top five strongest of their guild walking towards them calmly " I also made sure to put enough magic energy so that by the time he wakes up, he will return to normal"

Mirajane and Lisanna let out a sigh of relief and Lisanna laid down on the snow because of feeling extremely tired after everything that happened and Karna saw Mira's expression as she looked at Elfman

'Looks like it will happen exactly like cannon after all and if I guess right Elfman will also be of the same condition with only able to do partial transformation'

Then he looked towards the sky where there were weak swirling clouds.

'the only reason they were able to take Lisanna the other time was because she had almost emptied her magic while fighting and the wounds she got from Elfman forced the rest of her magic to prolong her life, essentially making her weak enough for the portal to suck her in'

Karna contemplated and then he looked at the swirling portal

'I need to find ways to fight without using, my magic as the chances of me being trapped their without having the candies that Mystogan carries is very high'

Karna heard the voice from the system and hearing the reward made him a bit happy as even though he can use magic to observe his surroundings, having additional ability to see as well increases his arsenal when fighting

As Karna got the reward, he also realised that nowadays he almost has no missions from the system and most of them are initiated by him. He feels like the system seems to be making sure to stay as much away from his actions as possible

He felt maybe the system feels that he can support himself without its help or rewards, so it is not showing itself that much outside.

'well I might need its help in the future but for now I need to perfect the things that I already have. My plates full right now'

Karna has right now reached the age of sixteen and is going through his teenage years where his magic development is very high because of which he is making sure to empty his magic storage as much as possible and recovering and emptying it again thereby maximising his storage and magic output.

The process may seem easy but it is exactly like going to a gym and straining the muscles for its growth and emptying his capacity again and again is normally an extremely painful process for a wizard and Karna was only able to do it because of his determination and the knowledge of the threats that he will face in the future.

As he was thinking this, Elfman turned back into human and realised what he had done and began to apologise while crying and Mirajane and Lisanna tried to console him as well

Seeing this Karna sighed as he knew that his earlier hypothesis was correct and the trauma of this incident will effect the Strauss siblings exactly like in the cannon.

After making sure that all three of them are safe, Karna began to go back to Magnolia with them as he remembered before he left Cana said she wants to talk to him about something.
