Multiple Covers in Bungo Stray Dogs

Orphanage, Yokohama

A girl with light orange hair about 3-4 years old holds a temari ball in hands was alone on the bench in the side of the playground. She seemingly alienate other children from approaching her but contradictory to the atmosphere around her, her facial expression only shows gentleness with slight melancholy. Compare to the children playing on the playground in modern clothes, she wears a traditional Japanese clothing somewhat similar to the attire of a Shinto priests.

The orphanage is visibly well-funded as you look further to its facilities and children's clothing. This place provides clothes under the children's own preferences but it's rare for them to specify such complicated clothes.

Ayanaki Rui, our MC, is that little girl.

She's planning to create her 1st avatar in secret but chances of being alone in this place is quite rare. She's also quite wary of other Gifted that can get information in certain condition like Sakaguchi Ango's [Discourse on Decadence], an ability that allows the user to read the memories left in things, a memory extraction ability. Although she knows that this Ability exists, it's still hard to guard against. At most, she could only pray that no happening that will occur in the orphanage that would require the investigation of Special Division.

It was a normal afternoon and the children were left in the playground to play as they like during their free time. There will be some adult who will facilitate if there's any conflict appearing but generally, they will leave these children here if nothing's happening.

Ayanaki Rui on the bench stands up and turn away from the playing children approaching the side area with trees. After some observation, she found this spot quite hidden from the outside and unnoticeable from the perspective of the children on the playground.

This will be the first time she's using her Ability and she didn't know how long it would take to form an avatar. Her instinct tells her that it's not that hard to activate her ability but controlling would probably be the hard part.

She has decided what kind of avatar she will form a long time ago but the plans on how this avatar would 'live' was something that she's still unsure of. Name: Shinazugawa Sanemi

Age: 10 years old

Appearance: Tall (for his age) and muscular boy with spiky short white hair and pale purple eyes that glares fiercely. His face and body are covered with scars seemingly from cut with sharp tools like a knife. He's wearing a dirty gray kimono that has the large part of the chest area wide-open with his neck hangs an olive green scarf. On his waist was a wooden sword that looks quite well polished and new, making it seem out-of-style from his poor appearance. The wooden sword is actually a real sharp sword in camouflage.

Character: Abrasive, hot-blooded, and stubborn, often times impulsive and quick to lash out. Sanemi's cold, rude, dismissive behavior is the result of losing too many people he cared about in the past. He uphold a lone wolf attitude and tends to rely only to himself. Unlike his appearance and attitude, he's actually has a high sense of justice and dislikes the idea of strong bullying the weak. Unexpectedly good at cooking and house chores.

Shinazugawa Sanemi stands in front of Ayanaki Rui. After her ability successfully created the avatar that she designs, her perspective is now divided into two. She sees things from her perspective and from Sanemi's perspective. For the first time she experience this, it's quite confusing and the amount of mental strain is also huge. Her hands reaches her eyes to cover, temporarily minimizing the headache. A few minutes of rest after, she open her eyes again and checks on Sanemi.

He's exactly as she pictures him. A specification window out of thin air that's only visible to her was displayed. It was the information page about Shinazugawa Sanemi. What pleases her the most is the fact that she successfully created her avatar with the power she envisioned! This means that her avatars will have the powers and talents that she grants them with. This alone is a big surprise, she was ready for it to fail.

She goes back to the bench she sits on earlier and confirm from that clock displayed near the side of the house that only few minutes have passed. She closes her eyes again and focus on controlling Sanemi.

Shinazugawa Sanemi nimbly passed through the orphanage fences unnoticed. He quickly move towards a populated area. He was just "born" today and he needed to find a place to live. Needless to say, it was actually already decided "where" but he didn't know the location. He manage to reach the market district. He walks unhurriedly in his on phase but he's actually trying to listen to his surroundings for news. A commotion upfront happened.

"Hey, watch your step, kid!"

"So-sorry."

A little boy that looks about 7 or 8 years old bump into a man causing to arose his irritation but he quickly recover as he click his tongue and walks forward again. The boy who bumps into him also strides afterwards. Sanemi who sees this scene knows that the child actually intentionally bump into the man as he reaches for the wallet in his loose jeans' pocket. He didn't say anything but quietly follows the direction of the child.

Sure enough he was led to his destination - Slum.
