Monster Tamer In The Apocalypse

Jiangnan University, Jiangnan, China 5th September 2022.

"Hey, wake up."

A male student tried to wake up the person beside him. He nudged that person while calling him in a low voice. But, that person was still sleeping soundly. Seeing the teacher had already finished writing and started explaining, he called him again in a hurry, "Chen Qiang, you better wake up now or the teacher will notice you."

However, bad luck seemed to come to that person. The teacher halted his speech as he quickly found someone dared to sleep in his first class! Moreover, that student was one from the rich side. He could imagine that student would be like what in the future, instantly his blood pumped up.

'I have to teach him now rather than later or else he will become like those students who are even difficult for me to handle.' He thought while walking to that student.

Seeing the teacher was walking to here, Zi Ling then looked at the student who was still asleep beside him and muttered with pity all over his face, "Uh bro, it is not like I don't want to help you."

The teacher's name was Ma Hong. He was one of the strictest teachers at Jiangnan University. Furthermore, he could be considered on top.

He came and slapped the table right in front of the student who was still asleep.

*Bam!!!*

The loud sound from the table made the student who was still sleeping as he pleased startled and woke up panicked.

Chen Qiang was truly shocked as he stood straight. His hand touched his head, he felt whirling as he had slept all day long. He unconsciously touched all over his body as if checking something, he still had a shocked expression on his face. He then looked around just to see the teacher Ma glaring at him with cold eyes.

'Why... Why am I here now? Didn't I die in the end due to a later-phase of rank 8 mutated beasts? Teacher Ma?! Why is he still alive?' This... Isn't this when I was still in the class years ago?

'Is it a dream? No no no, it surely is not a dream as it felt so real, but are those memories real? Am I really back?

"Chen Qiang, you go out now!" Just when Chen Qiang sank to his thought teacher Ma shouted at him which made him sober.

"Sorry teacher Ma" After he calmed down, he looked at him and said lightly. Then he walked out of the class. In those memories or his past life, teacher Ma was close to him, he knew that he disliked to the student who slept in his class. Back then, he was a diligent student and one of his favorites, but now they seemed fated to be just passers-by.

Chen Qiang went to the roof of one building in this college to take a breath and sort his messy thoughts. He saw the bustling scene that rarely appeared in his past life, The atmosphere was full of bliss, so different from the gloomy on those days. He could just saw this on a bigger base and yet, it still couldn't be compared to this. Then his thoughts drifted on the apocalypse that had happened back then.

On that day at 08.00 am, 25th December 2025 was the sudden transformations of all the creatures on the earth. No one knew why this change happened, and some peoples said this was because of virus-like, the opening of sources, the punishment of God, the occurrence of some oracle, and etc. But the certainty thing was, on that day all the living things on the earth saw the change, from the change of peace to chaos, the change of the food chain and all the creatures themselves. That day was called evolution day later on.

All the creatures started evolving, like some plants that seemed would never stop growing, the animal became more powerful and savage, and even the human was no exception. On that day the human who seemed couldn't resist the abrupt change of the evolution just like losing their souls as their savage instincts took control for surviving. They became zombies, man-eaters that horror humankind.

That day on all the highways many accidents occurred because they lost control over their body, not to mention in the dense environment like crowded streets and so on. But, as for the other area which was less crowded, fortunately there were not too many victims at the start because the zombies were still very weak. People who could resist the change just need to walk fast to avoid their pursuit. They also only need to be careful when they were close to them.

The humans that survived from the evolution day gradually become powerful too, just like the others. However, the human was just human after all. Even when they became powerful, they were still impossible to defeat animals. Moreover, it was not the animal again, but the mutated beasts.

Chen Qiang remembered that he and his sisters were just hiding in their home. It was because there was too much chaos outside so they were just waiting for the reaction of the government and hoping for their help at first.

Fortunately, their house was pretty big and that day was near the new year, so almost all the servants didn't work, even including their guards, because this area was rather safe and has a lot of security.

Most importantly, the area around their house didn't have many inhabitants. Also, just old housekeeper Zhang Kai, four maidservants, and two guards that lived with them on that day. They were really lucky because none of them turned into the zombie.

But even when they had a lot of food stocks and tried to save, eventually they would still run out of it.

They stayed in their house for two weeks waiting for what seemed to never come helper. The situation started to get more depressing when the electricity got run off. As they were gradually losing hope, they finally heard there was a survivor gathering. The place was protected by the military not far from outside the city that could give shelter to any survivors. Then they tried moving to there because of not many foods left in here and for better safety.

Chen Qiang and his sisters were followed by two guards named Chen Lei and Deng Gu, while the old housekeeper was just staying at the house with the four maidservants and food stock that could ensure them for 1 month or more.

Zhang Kai really wanted to help his young master go to the base, but with his old body, he thought that he just made a burden for them.

As for the reason the four maidservants were not willing to go was because previously, they sometimes saw many people not too far away from the house got bitten by the zombies. That really made them terrified.

The scene was too scary to watch. The anguished voice of the bitten could make anyone shivers to their bones, so they preferred just to stay in the house.

Fortunately, the house had a large garden planted with vegetables and fruits, maybe there were some of them that didn't die.

They did not use the car because a lot of the streets were blocked. The sound of the car could also make many zombies set the target to them, and if they met a blocked street, it would just be their end.

Chen Qiang and his sisters didn't bring much food for mobility. They also took the iron rods with the sharp tip the guards had made. He and both of his sisters had been taught by the guards how to use them.

Many people went there, but almost all the roads were very dangerous as many zombies were wandering in there.

A scene in which he could never forget playing again. Initially, their journey could be considered smooth as they kept avoiding the zombies. But when they gradually had to pass the crowded area, some zombies started to block their way.

The pressure on the guards kept increasing as they continued their journey. Eventually, they were surrounded by a large group of zombies.

They desperately wanted to break through the siege, but unfortunately, Chen Lei, one of the guards, could not handle getting swarmed by a lot of zombies at once and pushed to the ground. While Deng Gu made a choice to sacrifice himself by shouting like a madman to get the attention of all the zombies and went to the other way. He created a chance for them to run.

The two guards that he only knew about their names and didn't even care about them nor their families eventually did so much for him in a difficult situation.

Chen Qiang and his sisters ran with everything they had. But not long after they started to run, they got blocked by four zombies. When he and his sisters just wanted to pass them, somehow his little sister got dragged down by one slightly different zombie that seemed to suddenly appear from nowhere.

He just turned around and wanted to help her, but in front of him, the four zombies suddenly entangled him. Without any choice, he then stabbed and smashed the zombies that had entangled him.

He just successfully got rid of them when the zombies that dragged his little sisters bit her upper arm. His little sister screamed in pain and wanted to push that zombie, but to no avail because her strength didn't have an effect at all.

Gradually his little sister got encircled by more and more zombies.

Tears and mucus were flowing at her beautiful face, her pitiful expression could make all the people heartbroken.

The zombie successfully tore a piece of her meat. He who saw that madly dashed to his little sister. He successfully got rid of the three zombies that siege her. However, there were more and more zombies came to surround them.

His little sister noticed it too. She knew when she got bitten, then even if she were still living she would turn like them too. She got up all her courage. With a slight unwillingness, she shouted to her brother with her beautiful eyes pouring more of tears.

"Bi..Big brother, you must leave now!"

"A..And please protect elder sister!, even if I still live th..that would just torture me in the end. I will still turn like them ahh!!!..."

"Xi'er!!!...." Chen Qing with tears down from her eyes like a stream shouted. She just wanted to help her little sister, but Chen Qiang with bloodshot eyes that were also full of tears, turned around and grabbed her.

"Br..Brother, what are you doing?! We must save our little sister!!". Chen Qing hysterically called Chen Qiang, but he just kept grabbing her and started moving, running from their pursuit.

"Brother!" She shouted at him seeing he didn't have any response and kept dragging her.

"Shut up! And just follow me." With a harsh voice, he shouted to his sister.

"You..." Chen Qing was shocked when she heard that, he never once talked harshly to her. Her struggle slowly became weak

With pained hearts and great difficulty, she hung her head and followed him, accompanied by the anguished voice of her sisters that gradually weakened.
