Nan Zhizhi's gaze swiveled over the waiting room, looking for a place to sit while her husband was clearing out the bills at the reception. Knowing that it would take time for him to return to her, she walked slowly toward one of the empty seats, while placing her hand on her pregnant belly.

She sat down slowly and took a deep breath. The hospital was like usual; busy with some patients beings discharged, while some were brought to the hospital. There were nurses, doctors, and other medical personnel going to and fro.

Usually, the hospital was one of those places which preferred silence and calmness, however, today she could see a clear vibe of tension in the atmosphere. It was like a storm brewing in the dark. She could also hear a faint sound of chaos in the background.

In the beginning, she didn't think much of it but when her eyes fell on the TV playing quietly in one of the corners, her eyes went wide with horror. She gasped, and stood up from her seat, her eyes unblinking as she stared at the news being told by one of the news reporters.

"Today, a fatal accident took place due to a collision between a truck and a Maybach at 9:30 p.m. at the road opposite the Beijing International Airport. There was one person in the truck, its driver while there were three people inside the Maybach.

Three people died on the spot and one person was seriously injured. We are very unfortunate to disclose this news, but the Maybach belonged to the popular actor, Pei Xingcheng. It's informed that Mr. Pei Xingcheng left the Golden Lotus Award after giving his speech in his Maybach and was driving towards the airport when the collision happened.

The popular actor Pei Xingcheng is seriously injured and is taken to the nearby Silverline Hospital. His current condition is not disclosed. According to our sources, all the fans of the actor are standing outside the hospital, praying for the actor's recovery and treatment.

Nan Zhizhi stood numb, her eyes welled with tears and she watched the news in disbelief. Looking at the pictures of the accident, her heart broke. "No!" she gasped out loud.

A sudden blackness covered her eyes, her legs staggered and she was almost about to fall, when a strong arm wrapped itself around her body, stabilizing her.

"Zhizhi!!!" A familiar voice yelled.

Nan Zhizhi held onto the arm for support and looked at her husband's concerned face. "Xingcheng...." she cried.

"I know," Ye Qingze, Nan Zhizhi's husband patted her back to calm her.

"Qingze, w-we.. we need to go and meet him. He's here, he's here...." she spoke anxiously while pulling onto her husband's sleeves.

"We will," he assured her, "but before that, you need to take care of yourself, Zhizhi. You are pregnant. This is not good for you."

Nan Zhizhi wanted to argue, but when she saw her husband's stern eyes, she relented. "Okay," she nodded, took a deep breath, drank some water, and then both of them walked towards the reception to inquire about Pei Xingcheng's news.

Two days later.

White.

That was all that Pei Xingcheng saw when he opened his velvety brown eyes. Right now, his eyes were staring at this white ceiling while his mind was swimming in confusion. Where was he? Why was everything white around him? Wasn't he supposed to be enjoying a movie date with his beautiful girlfriend?

His ears moved when he heard the sound of a slow, constant beeping sound coming from beside him. He frowned and almost sat up only to see that an IV drip was attached to his hand while he was hooked to several medical apparatus.

"What the hell..." he almost blurted out in shock.

That's when he realized that he was not in a movie theater but in a hospital room. Surprised, he kept staring at the medical apparatus with confusion and doubt in his eyes.

What was going on? What was he doing here?

He made efforts to get up, sat straight on the bed, and looked down at his body. Everything seemed fine except that his left hand was fully covered in large bandages, his left leg was in a white cast, and he didn't seem to remember how he ended up in a hospital in this terrible state.

Pei Xingcheng closed his eyes, trying to recall something, anything but nothing came to his mind. The last memory he had was of him getting ready to meet his girlfriend for a date and after that everything was blank.

He pressed further, trying to think harder to remember something when suddenly, he felt a loud throbbing pain in his head.

"AAAK!!!!!!"

His voice filled the entire room. He groaned in pain and fell back onto the bed, panting heavily. Large drops of sweat began to appear on his forehead. He raised his hands to wipe off the sweat when he realized that his entire head was also covered in several bandages. It was hurting and it shocked him. He seemed to be seriously injured.

But how?

Why can't he remember anything?

He wanted to know what was going on. He stared at the door wanting to call for a nurse, or a doctor when suddenly, he felt a presence in the room. He looked to his side and saw a woman, an extremely beautiful woman. She was staring back at him with those hauntingly beautiful grey eyes.

And, there was one emotion he noticed in that unknown woman's eyes - pain

Why was there pain in those beautiful eyes?

And, why did he feel a slight amount of pain in his chest when he saw the pain in this strange woman's eyes?

Who was this woman?
