Riize clutched her fingers, not daring to raise her eyes as she was afraid that her strong resolution would crumble the moment she saw his miserable state. “Yes.” Her voice was firm, leaving no space for doubt to bloom. “I wouldn’t have left as for the least, for once at that time, I had come to love you not because of whatever you are in the past but because, I learnt to embrace your shortcomings and desire you for whoever you are.” === [WARNING: SUGGESTIVE CONTENTS, MILD DEPICTION OF VIOLENCE?]

Chapter 1Prologue

"In three day's time, I will make you my woman."

His hot and heavy breath caressed the back of her neck, painting the tip of her ears red before the heat traveled to her neck, chest, then to each and every inch of her body, devouring them all without leaving any skin untouch.

Her vertical serpent pupils, left emerald-green and right ruby-red, almost closed shut as the toes of her two human feet curled up from the burning sensation, a cute and satisfying response to his tease that nearly snapped the last string of his self-control.

With the man's huge and strong frame towering over her delicate physical form, his hands on her waist and his lips almost touching hers, she felt as if a huge fire had been lit within her, roasting her insides with the ecstasy of being wanted– of being loved.

He said that he loves her.

That one thought was enough for extreme sweetness to explode in her mouth, as if the ruined world's sweetest candy had been pressed against the tip of her forked tongue. But, that intoxicating display of affection didn't last for long.

As his hot and scalding palms slowly crept above her glistening forehead, combing through her dark midnight-blue hair and onto the two curved horns sticking out of each side of her head, they wrapped around the two objects without any warning, flashing her ominous hints of the danger awaiting her in the next second.

Her eyes snapped wide out of fright, her hands against his chest as she fought to push him away from her but alas, all was too late as a loud crisp sound of a "snap" rang against her ears, which was followed by the dull thud of her broken horns hitting against the ground.

Inhumane pain pricked her entire being as she shuddered, veins twisting and popping out against her skin from the constant torture that came after.

"Why?" Her soft and delicate voice came out more like a whisper, trembling intensely like a flickering flame against the merciless assault of the wind.

For a demon, their horns were their source of strength, power, and life. Forcefully taking them away from a demon was akin to ending their lives, a cruel way of killing one in fact for their lifeforce would trickle out of their bodies slowly at a time, torturing them with the dread of their absolute impending deaths till the end of their lives.

However, the man seemed to have thought otherwise as the fondness in his eyes hadn't retreated for even the slightest bit. He pulled the visibly-weakening serpent demoness into his arms, gently caressing her long lush hair as if she was his most prized treasure, his deep voice emerging out to the cold and stifling air surrounding them, sounding ever so softly and lovingly.

"Don't blame me, Love. For it is you who have forced my hand."

As those cruel words rolled out of his tongue without any guilt, he moved to land a gentle kiss on each of the bleeding holes, before releasing her out of his embrace and leaving her to fall beneath him, defenseless and without any chance of fighting back.

"Tsk, what an unsightly sight."

Through her hazy sight and sluggish senses, she could vaguely hear the familiar voice of a woman, her tone reeking of disgust and hatred. Then, as the rhythmic sound of her heels hitting against the ground gradually rose in volume, she saw her.

The woman who she once looked down upon. The woman who she endlessly ridiculed for dreaming of obtaining her man – or so she thought.

At that moment when she saw her nemesis closing upon her man, his hand reaching out to wrap around the woman's, an indescribable feeling swallowed her whole. She never learnt what it was as the next thing she knew, darkness had come to embrace her.

Over one night, she had the entirety of the few things she deemed important in this insignificant life of hers robbed off her. She lost her powers, her freedom, her trust and even the love of her life and yet, that wasn't the end of her suffering.

At least, that hadn't been enough for a certain person.

"20 gold coins for a lowly bitch! It's an overkill if I have to say."

A series of laughter came from behind the door. Having just regained her consciousness, she found herself tied to a bed, her eyes entirely blindfolded.

When the door creaked open and light breached through the opening to cast upon her alluring figure, she couldn't help but flinch out of fear, shrinking back in efforts of minimizing her presence which was of course, to no avail.

Chill ran across her spine as she felt the bed dipping in, signifying another presence aside from hers. And when she felt a hurried breath blowing against her neck, the strong smell of booze and tobacco attacking her senses, she yelped and fought all her might, her blind kicks hitting the right spot.

"You fuckin bitch!"

An angry shout reverberated in the air, which was followed by the rough grab to her hair.

"Akh!"

She winced and cried at the pain sparking across her scalp, tears overflowing her burning eyes for the first time after a very distant while.

'Why?'

She trashed about in a state of frenzy, but how can a blind person win against one that can see? The man easily held her down, laughing at his victory as he closed in to take a greedy sniff of her sweet scent.

'Why did you do this to me?'

As he continued his advances, more tears rolled down, fully-drenching the cloth covering her eyes. The man clicked his tongue, finding the cloth hindering his progress and ruining his fun.

'Why did you betray me? Why did you not want me anymore?'

With the rise of indignance as a trigger, anger and hatred flooded her heart. She wants him to die a horrible death. She wants him to know the consequences of betraying her!

A burst of flame raged within her, and as the man pulled down the cloth covering her eyes, a blinding flash of eerie green entranced him to the point of freezing still.

MIND CONTROL!

A surge of mystical energy burst out of the tip of the tiny horn emerging out of the top center of her forehead.

Tak!

Having regained her strength, she easily broke out of the ropes binding her and kicked the man down the bed. And yet, upon the loud crash, the man didn't utter a slight of protest and had instead kneeled on the ground, eyes staring blankly at the space before him.

Upon the sight of him, she felt a sudden urge to vomit the shit out of her. Holding back the urge, she spat out with gritted teeth, "Wretch, break your hands."

The man's hand reached out to the sword leaning by the bedside table, unsheathing it without any hint of hesitance. And just as he was about to swing the sword as per her order, she stopped him. "Wait."

The man paused, obediently waiting for her next order.

"Hand it over." She demanded, a hand outstretching as her dark brooding eyes moved to land on the man's blank face. "I'll do it myself."

"Yes…"

*Sraash

That night, a river of blood flowed out of the city's most notorious womanizer's private chamber. And as a trail of blooming red traced behind the culprit's drifting back, a cold glint flashed through her menacingly glowing eyes.

That dog pair of a man and a woman, she would let them regret ever letting her survive through this hell!!!

"Hades, I—" "But you only laugh at other men's jokes," he interrupted, his gaze piercing, devoid of any humor. "Not your husband's." The accusation in his tone was sharp, slicing through the air between us. A nervous chuckle escaped me. "You can't be serious... He’s your beta, for Goddess’ sake." "You can’t laugh at my jokes..." he whispered, his voice a dangerous rasp as his fingers trailed lower, sending a shiver down my spine, "but you’ll come with my fingers." I shivered, heat pooling low in my belly at his words, his touch. The world around us blurred, fading into nothing as his hand slipped lower, drawing a ragged gasp from my lips. The look in his eyes told me he knew exactly what he was doing to me, and there was no denying the primal connection between us in that moment. "I don’t need your laughter," he murmured against my skin, his breath hot on my neck.
