Marriage To Seize

The month of March in spring was the rainy season in Luo City. When it finally stopped raining and the warm sun came out, the Nan family received a huge blow.

This blow was caused by only one reason. News spread throughout Luo City that the marriage of Nan Yan, the youngest daughter of the Nan family, had been nullified by the Fu family's eldest son, Fu Xiao. In an instant, Nan Yan became the subject of ridicule throughout the entire society of the upper class. In fact, the entire Nan family had almost become a laughingstock.

That evening, the atmosphere in the large living room of the Nan family felt almost frozen. However, with a nonchalant expression on her pretty face, Nan Yan sat on the sofa as if nothing was wrong.

"Dad, what does the Fu family mean by this? Accepting the nullification is fine. This marriage agreement was originally arranged by Grandpa when I was very young anyway. It's outrageous, and there's nothing wrong about nullifying it. However, they didn't have the courtesy to give us any heads-up beforehand, and they went directly to the media to leak the marriage nullification. They really don't take our family seriously."

Then the tension was broken by Nan Xian, the oldest daughter of the Nan family. Her pretty face, which resembled Nan Yan's, looked blatantly angry.

"You're right. I have to say that the Fu family has gone overboard this time. Look at all the things that the reporters and media are saying. They have wronged Yan Yan." 

Mrs. Nan, Ye Jingya, was also angry. Her eyes were full of anguish and pity as she looked at Nan Yan.

Nan Yan smiled. She didn't really feel very much emotion about the marriage nullification. She and Fu Xiao had actually only met twice in person. He was pretty good-looking. He was the eldest grandson of the Fu family. She'd heard that he was very much loved, but she didn't know much else about him.

"Do you feel wronged?" The handsome young man sitting beside Nan Yan suddenly leaned close to her, half-covered his mouth with the back of his hand, and asked in a teasing manner.

Nan Yan glanced at him. "I think...I should feel wronged."

"Then you should at least act a little wronged. You acting like this makes it seem as if this matter had nothing to do with you." Nan Yun looked her up and down. He couldn't help but diss her.

"What are you two muttering about?" Ye Jingya saw the two of them whispering, so she walked over and patted Nan Yun. She motioned for him to move over and sat between them and looked at Nan Yan. "Yan Yan, tell us, what do you think about this matter? Don't worry, you're still the jewel of the Nan family. Nobody should even think about wronging you."

Nan Yan glanced at Nan Shang, who hadn't spoken but had a calm expression. She sighed softly and said calmly, "Dad, Mom, you two can take care of this matter however you see fit. It's true that I don't really know Fu Xiao. I've only met him twice, and, even if this marriage gets called off, I don't care."

"Lao Nan, did you hear that?" After listening to what her daughter had said, Ye Jingya was relieved. She had been worried that her daughter was going to be very unhappy if the marriage was broken off.

Only now did Nan Shang look up at the mother and daughter. He nodded thoughtfully. "Tomorrow, I will go to see the Fu family. The Fu family will have to give me an explanation about this matter. Let's eat now."

"Dad, I'm not going to stay for the meal. I've recently taken on a difficult case at the Prosecutor General's Office. I only came home today because I was worried about Yan Yan. However, now that I can see that she is okay, I can rest assured." Nan Xian was dressed in a black suit that made her appear very capable. She picked up her handbag and prepared to leave.

"You have to eat no matter how busy you are. Please sit down and have a meal with us before you leave. I think you've lost weight recently." Ye Jingya tried to force her to stay.

"Mom, I'm fine. I'm leaving now. Everyone, take care of yourselves."

"Sister, I'll see you off." Nan Yan quickly got up and walked over to her sister. Then she waved at Ye Jingya and the others, saying, "Mom and Dad, you guys go ahead and eat. I'm just going to send off my sister. I'll be back soon."
