Accident

I was just a regular everyday normal guy. coming from a middle-class family, scoring a slightly above, but not really, above-average job. No traumatic experiences to speak of, that gave me the motivation to be the main character of any type of novel. Both parents still alive no siblings. No really interesting hobbies, some sport there, some video games there. Some colleagues, one or two good friends, single. If you saw me walking by in the crowded city, you wouldn't even remember me afterwards or even notice me at the moment. Well, until the day of my accident, that more time passed by, seemed less and less like an accident. I mean how rare is a car accident nowadays? In the year 3396 anno domini. Cars drive themselves and asking they do, they don't cause accidents. The only accidents you hear about nowadays are caused by nature or human stupidity. Like a storm uprooting a tree onto the roof of a car or something. Or like in my case, some supposedly drunk idiots, disabling their autopilot. Which by the way is not an easy thing to do completely. Gotta be someone with a background in automobiles to do that. Normally safety features run alongside manual mode. Safety features that make nigh impossible to run someone over. But well, at least I didn't feel the crash. One moment I was strolling along the street and the next moment I woke up in the hospital. The car hit me from behind. Broke my neck. Did some other damage too, but the broken neck was the only thing the doctors could fix. At least not without a major risk of me dying.
