"You said you wanted to talk?" Meredith asked, placing a cup of tea in front of me, before sitting across from me.
I'd visited Meredith today for more than one reason.
"I was wondering if you could make a shrouding spell for me?"
Meredith raised a questioning brow at me.
"Valen told me about it.”
I’d wanted to know why I hadn’t been able to sense anyone inside Meredith’s cabin until they had exited. I’d noticed the same thing outside the old clinic, but I hadn’t wanted to mention that I’d been back there without him. He’d want to know why.
“She placed a spell around the building,” Valen had told me.
“Spell? As in magic? I had no idea Healers could practice magic.”
I said the same thing to Meredith now.
“I thought only witches could cast spells.” And they were all gone after the war.
“It’s not quite the same. They aren’t nearly as powerful as a spell a witch would cast. But they’re effective enough.”
