An average day, or so I thought.

I sat on the bus and stared at my phone. It was 16:03. Sighing, I put my hands in my pockets and stared out the window. Birds flew high above the oak trees. It was a peaceful day... Suddenly, the bus lurched forward and I was thrown against the seat in front of me. The sound of glass breaking rang through my ears. I screamed as something crashed into the side of the bus and it went tumbling down the road, with me still inside it. I panicked as the edge of the Chelsea Bridge came into view. Turning around, I realised that the bus was empty, and the doors had been opened. How had I not noticed! The bus bounced off the bridge like a ball bounces off a table. I screamed again as the bus fell towards the murky waters below. Closing my eyes, I waited for my time to come. Somehow, I didn't die. Instead, I was in the claws of a big metal creature. It had long cat-like arms and paws, with bird legs. A roar erupted from the creature's beak, it's mane flowing in the wind. It soared higher and higher above the ground until I could see the crash site. A hole the size of an Olympic swimming pool had been blown to smithereens. Bombs rained down everywhere. A war was beginning, I thought to myself gloomily. Wars happened all the time. Europe and America were in a constant struggle for power, each one trying to destroy the other. All of Europe had formed some kind of mega-country. America had done the same. Usually, our government would stop the bombs with some kind of new technology that nobody but them could understand. This time, something had gone wrong. The steel creature lifted me higher into the sky, each beat of it's giant wings propelling it higher and higher into the unknown above. Up ahead, I could see some kind of electrical forcefield. As we crashed through it, I was introduced to the real world. Fighter jets soared by, shooting missiles at each other in an attempt to stay alive. It was a battlefield where the best technology would succeed. We really were dependant on it. Bullets zoomed past me head and drones glided by. The creature didn't stop flying till we were way above the raging battle below. A giant bronze hot air balloon came into view. I could clearly see that it had been made of various scrap metals; fridge doors and car parts were visible from afar. The creature tucked in it's wings and shot onto a landing strip that had appeared on the left. It landed as gracefully as a 12,000 pound pile of steel and bolts could. I scrambled to get away as fast as I could, tripping over my feet in a haste to escape. The creature shook out it's metallic bat wings and stared curiously at me with two platinum disc eyes. It snorted out a cloud of smoke and wagged it's electrical cord tail. At first I thought it was excited to see me, but then I realised it was looking behind me.
