Chapter 5

It was 7.30 pm and I, Sasaki and Iguchi had just met up to go to school. It was dark outside and the school was closed so we had to sneak in, something Iguchi was very reluctant to do and he made it clear both of us knew that multiple times. After getting into the school we all went to the occult club room and Sasaki told us to wait there whilst she collected the candle from her locker.

I decided to wait, leaning on the wall. Iguchi, also with nothing to do, decided to come to me and talk. While I wouldn't call them friends, I could tell everyone from the occult club was a nice and welcoming person, not discriminating against me or treating me differently just because I was a foreigner.

I could see them becoming my friends if I wasn't so occupied with getting stronger, but I know that in a world like Jujutsu Kaisen if you're not strong enough then having attachments is just a burden. That's why I need to train as hard as I can and take any opportunity to gain as much strength as I can. It feels nice to finally have a goal in life, and that's something I'm going to cherish.

"So have you decided to join the occult club yet, king? I know everyone would love for you to join." Iguchi asked with a smile on his face.

"I still haven't made up my mind, but thank you for being so accommodating." I wonder if after both Me and Itadori leave for Jujutsu High the occult club wouldn't be a club, as they need three people for it to be an official club. I guess it's useless to think about these things, it would have happened with or without me here, and at least with me here I can make sure nobody gets hurt.

"Oh okay, well take your time," Iguchi said, still smiling but his tone was less cheerful.

"Sasaki is back," I said while pointing over to Sasaki, who had just come back holding two things, one was a candle and the other was Sukuna's finger wrapped in a thin paper with symbols and writing on it.

"Guys, turn off the lights while I light this candle," Sasaki said to us as she walked over to the table and set down the candle.

"Do we have to? it's already creepy enough to be in school alone at night though," Iguchi said in a sceptical tone while his face was frowning.

"Yes, what's the point if the atmosphere isn't right? Just turn off the light," Sasaki said matter-of-factly, clearly very passionate about this.

"Fine," Iguchi reluctantly agreed and turned off the lights, not before the candle was lit though.

I sat down at the table with Sasaki and Iguchi joined us a moment later. Sasaki began to try to peel away at the paper, trying multiple times without any success. Just as Iguchi was about to stand up, ready to turn the lights back on, Sasaki started opening it successfully.

She started unraveling it, revealing a finger inside, Sukuna's finger. I could feel the sheer density and power of the cursed energy within it, being close to the total of my own cursed energy.

Just as Sukuna's finger was released the candlelight blew out and a cursed spirit appeared above us, something I couldn't see but I could feel.

"What's going on," Sasaki said in a frightened voice, bundling up Sukuna's finger with the paper after dropping it.

I ignored her and looked up, getting ready to fight the cursed spirit, even if it was many times stronger than the one I fought this morning. Both of them saw where I was looking and looked too, just barely being able to see the monstrosity that is the cursed spirit.

Both screamed from fear and froze in place. "RUN!" I shouted at them, breaking them from their trance and they both ran from the room as fast as they could.

I saw the cursed spirit split off a couple of bits of flesh that began to move, becoming like a different cursed spirit. They started to crawl in the direction of the door, where they both ran off.

"Not on my watch," I said before running to the door and stomping with my foot imbued with cursed energy on a small cursed spirit. The one that was attached to Iguchi's head in JJK. It was very weak and disappeared after one attack.

The cursed spirit's many eyes all darted to me, rage and pain clear in each one. It started darting towards me, still crawling on the ceiling, and when it got above it dropped.

"*Huff* *huff* Takeshi, king, are you guys okay?" Sasaki asked as she stopped to catch her breath, Takeshi did the same and answered back "Yeah I'm fine, what about you king?" He said before turning around and looking for King, "Huh, King where are you?" Takeshi said with fear and panic.

"What! He's not behind you, did he get lost or something?" Sasaki now turned around and her eyes widened in shock, looking around for King.

"What should we do? Should we go back?" Iguchi said reluctantly, not wanting to go back but also not wanting to leave somebody behind.

"No, he's probably just got lost. We should not go back, did you see that 'thing'? It'll kill us," Sasaki said adamantly, and she was lightly shaking from fear.

Just then a black-haired teen ran round the corner with an urgent look on his face, that slowly turned into confusion when he saw two people standing there completely fine, even when there was a cursed spirit in this building.

"Huh, where's the cursed spirit," he shouted over to the two people, startling them and making them jump.

"Who... Who are you," Sasaki asked with a stutter, still shaken up.

"That's not important, now answer my question- You! Give me that finger now," he stopped mid-sentence after noticing Sasaki holding Sukuna's finger, his face transforming from irritated and confused to shock and impatience.

*Crash* In the distance a massive crashing sound was heard, sounding like a fight.

"The cursed spirit!" The black-haired teen shouted before running off and summoning two dogs, one black and one white. He started running in the direction of the sound, and when he got there what he saw shocked him.

A tall white-haired teen was fighting with the cursed spirit, using solely his body imbued with cursed energy without any techniques, no fighting technique or cursed technique. He looked like a complete amateur, but his control wasn't, it was finely tuned and was on par with semi-grade 1 sorcerers.

Every punch he threw blew chunks out of the cursed spirit, but the regeneration of this cursed spirit made it hard for him to finish it off, and it was relentlessly attacking him. Even though he seemed to be dominating the fight, he was getting slower with each attack and he already had some injuries.

The black-haired teenager ran over as fast as he could to help King, wanting to end this as fast as he could, but just as he got close he got launched back after colliding with someone. Moments before this King was about to dodge to the side when he slipped, not being able to move properly with a broken ankle, even with an insane amount of adrenaline. This resulted in the cursed spirit's charge attack to connect, launching King straight towards the black-haired kid. They both smashed through a wall landing on the roof.

The black-haired teenager was still conscious and well, only with some bruises, but not King, he was unconscious, clearly overestimating himself. The black-haired teenager threw King off to the side out of the way and stood back up, preparing to fight the cursed spirit, that was until it suddenly started going in a different direction, and when he looked over to where exactly it was going, he saw Yuji Itadori, holding Sukuna's finger.

"Itadori run! Don't let it eat that finger!" The black-haired guy shouted to Itadori, panic and urgency evident in his voice. His face turned to dread as Itadori didn't run but just stood there, even as the cursed spirit was closing in on him.

Just as it looked like he was about to be devoured along with Sukuna's finger, he jumped on top of its head and kicked it, then jumped in the direction of the black-haired teenager and the unconscious King.

"Is he okay Fushiguro?" was the first thing Itadori said while looking at King.

"Yeah he's fine, now give me the finger before he eats it!" Fushiguro said with impatience.

"Eat it? What, is it tasty?" Itadori said curiously while looking at the finger, confusion on his face.

"Of course not, it's for power. Now give it here!" Fushiguro said, growing more and more impatient and irritated.

Before Itadori could hand over the finger the cursed spirit once again charged in their direction, leaving Fushiguro no time to take it. He had to fight the cursed spirit, seeing as he couldn't just leave civilians here to die.

Just as he was preparing to attack by making some hand signs, the cursed spirit accelerated, going faster than it was previously. Maybe because of instincts or another reason but it seemed it didn't want Fushiguro to perform his attack. Unlike before this time he was seriously injured, bleeding from his head and other places, lying on the floor powerlessly and watching as the cursed spirit approached Itadori, who was still here and holding the finger.

"Got dammit, why couldn't you have just run!" Fushiguro shouted at Itadori, anger and frustration directed not at Itadori but at his own powerlessness.

"Everyone dies, but that doesn't mean you can't have a proper death. I don't want anyone I know to die an improper death, that's why I won't just leave you guys behind!" Itadori said passionately, clearly not going to change his mind.

"What can you even do without cursed energy, you'll just die with the rest of us!" Fushiguro shouted in retaliation.

"cursed energy," Itadori mumbled to himself before looking towards the finger in his hand, then to the cursed spirit that was running towards not him but the finger in his hand. Then and there Itadori made a choice that would affect many lives, some for the better and some for the worse.

"Don't do it!" Fushiguro shouted in sheer panic, seeing Itadori's intentions clearly, but Itadori didn't listen. He jumped backwards out of the way of the cursed spirit that just attacked him and ate the finger, doing so in one swift action.

"Oh no," Fushiguro anxiously said.

[FYI the reason why the MC didn't try to stick to plot and make sure Itadori eats Sukuna's finger is because he believes in the power of plot]
