im kumoko

So, I died only to be reincarnated as a cute waifu-like girl, only to die again and be reincarnated as a spider, sounds fun. What, that I'm kumo? Really? That's a shame but i don't care about that, I'll live this new second (or is it third?) life as I please!.

...Not so long ago, I would have thought this was amazingly good.

Well, to be honest, I still think about it, but at the same time I don't feel it's something to celebrate.

Ugh. Uugh. Uuugh. Argh!

Enough for the moment! I don't want to think about it!

What's the point of worrying anyway?

Even if they changed my system or did something to kumoko or my memories, what am I supposed to do about it?

I'm just a spider now.

What is a spider supposed to be able to do to change the past?

The past is the past for a reason, it cannot be changed.

And what am I supposed to do against a bunch of pseudo-god lunatics?

Nothing, of course.

So why not continue to live my life as I please?

Stalkers? Peeping Toms? Do your worst.

I don't care if you are D or some other administrator or god or whatever you are. Go ahead and watch. I'll show you a life you won't soon forget!

I will burn like a comet until I am completely consumed!

Rejoice your eyes on my glorious life!

[Akira-chan!]

What's wrong, Karada-chan?

[We are on fire!]

I know, I know. I'm totally on fire right now!

[Not that! I mean physically we're on fire!]

Huh?

[The threads, the threads!]

Wha-whaaaaaat...?!

[You were so lost in thought, so we forgot to cut the thread, and now we're on fire!]

How did the threads catch fire?!

[I was doing an experiment and discovered that we can deactivate skills, so I deactivated them for a moment and forgot to turn them back on!]

Idiot! Turn them back on!

[Ready!]

Uff, I'm no longer in danger, but I'm still on fire. How do I put out the fire?

[I have an idea, weak poison synthesis on the way!]

Gah? now I feel numb and my insides are burning!

[Oh no! I accidentally changed [Weak Poison] with [Deadly] and it still has the paralysis effect added!]

Seriously, what's wrong with you today!

Proficiency has reached the required level. Skill [Paralysis Resistance Lv 4] has become [Paralysis Resistance Lv 5].

Proficiency has reached the required level. Skill [Deadly Poison resistance at Lv 2] has become [Deadly Poison resistance at Lv 3].

My insides feel like they're on fire!

[I'm so numb! This couldn't be worse... Aaaah! Our Hp!]

No shit! We're going to die!

STOP JINXING THINGS!

[Oh, our hp reached 0].

NAI WA-?!

[Activate Patience! As long as we have Mp to sacrifice, we will revive with 1 Hp!]

Oooh!

[But if we don't do something about the poison, it will end too! Are we still paralyzed? ]

Almost there... a little more, ready, the effect has passed! I'm going to spam Cure to cure our poison.

[All right, this time I'm synthesizing [Weak Poison] and no paralysis! And while I'm at it I'll put it in as much as possible!]

Oh boy, that's a big balloon of poison!

[Ouch. It's crushing us. Our Hp disappears again].

Proficiency has reached the required level. Skill [Cure Lv 3] has become [Cure Lv 5].

Ugh. At least we put out the fire and I managed to cure the poison. I never thought I'd have to use that ability again.

[Oh, you're right. Well, I guess at least we know that Patience and Cure work, so... I guess it all worked out okay, right?]

How is any of this even remotely right?

[Well look, you just don't have to worry about it].

I mean what kind of first KO is this?

[Don't worry about it]

Of course...

[Our Mp dropped by about half].

If we didn't have Wisdom it would mean we would be dead. Also, thanks to the resistances too.

[Good thing we had Wisdom inthat case].

But it was because of Wisdom that I had an existential crisis in the first place...

[Don't worry about it]

Skills are really useful, aren't they?

[They sure are]

I don't know why someone would create these skills and then distribute them, but I guess since they did, we should put them to use, shouldn't we?

[I guess. Sure, let's go with that]

So, Wisdom works as some kind of super-enhanced version of Appraisal-chan and Detection-kun.

I'm going to start calling him Wisdom-sama at this point.

On the one hand, I add details related to Appraisal-chan results for statistics improvement items.

And if I use double Appraisal on those details, I can access even more information. It's wonderful.

Attack and defense, for example, now give details with numerical values for each body part.

Thanks to that, I now know that my scythes possess the highest attack of my entire body, and that my defense is virtually equal anywhere.

The defense power of the main trunk of my body is a bit low, but since I specialize in evading anyway, I just have to make sure I don't screw up and get an attack.

Also, I have Dragon Scales which increases my defense and resistance skills by interfering with the very composition of magic. I don't know how much I can reduce but it sounds OP.

My speed in turn is divided into reflex speed, instantaneous speed, persistent speed, etc.

All are on average congruent, but the instantaneous velocity is slightly higher.

And then there's the magic. Where do I start?

There are a lot of different sections. - magical attack power, runic speed, runic stability, runic strength, etc. - but all except for attack power are maxed out.

99,999 apparently. That's not within the average at all!

I suppose this is due to the effect of Height of Occultism.

It was somehow written that the magic formula related becomes maximum, so I think that it's the effect.

So. This means I'm able to use magic now, right?

Fwa-ha-ha. Finally! Finally, I can use magic!

Oh, wow I am so excited about it.

But first, it would be better to finish seeing the effects of Wisdom-sama.

There is no need to get ahead of yourself.

Last, but not least, the resistances contain important disclosures.

My greatest weakness, of course, is, or rather was, fire.

Thanks to Heat Nullification I have covered this weakness. Being now that my resistance to fire is 99,999.

Oh, by the way, it seems that having a stamina skill raises your stamina stats for the corresponding attribute.

Fire aside, I am also quite weak to water, ice and light.

Especially ice, which is the lowest so far.

I doubt I will encounter any kind of ice attack while in the Middle Layer, but I still decided to get the corresponding resistances for them and raise the ice resistance with skill points.

Water and Light Resistance are at level 1

While Ice Resistance is at level 9.

But I ran out of skill points, for first time in a long time.

Well, as long as I don't have to get a skill urgently, I'll be fine.

My best resistance, on the other hand, are heresy and fire. Not surprisingly, I have both in their super improved versions

The 2 are at 99.999.

The next highest is my resistance to poison.

And surprisingly after that this darkness.

So now I know my strengths and weaknesses, but you know, I think this can be applied to my capabilities as well.

For example, if I were to use ice magic, which is my weakest attribute, the effect would probably be negligible.

On the other hand, the one with the highest value, heresy and darkness, perhaps also fire, are likely to be very powerful.

I mean, this is all just speculation, but I'm pretty sure it is.

In other topics, I can see more details of my skills now.

Specifically, I am able to see the mastery levels I possess with all my skills.

It shows how much Proficiency I need to acquire to reach the next level, which will allow me to raise my skills more efficiently now.

I am even able to see the amount of Proficiency needed for skills I do not yet possess.

Guess what: I am now able to see the list of skills even if I have no skill points to use.

That really surprised me. And all the skills are unlocked on top of everything else.

I can easily waste a whole day looking at the entire list.

One thing is for sure. There are some skills that require an absurdly high amount of points that there is no way to obtain them.

In return, of course, they are incredibly powerful, but I don't think it will ever happen.

Hmm. How are you feeling, System-chan?

Functional. With a headache.

Can you get headaches?

Apparently

Wow.

Where was I?

Oh right, apparently there are no changes with System-chan regarding these updates, she still responds when I talk to her and if not, she stays quiet.

Only now she's... more expressive? I guess that's one way of putting it.

Anyway, it turns out that, yes, there is an immortality skill, can you believe it? So, I asked System-chan how much it cost as a joke, and the answer was...

100,000 points.

Totally unrealistic. I will never get that.

But leaving aside the unobtainable skills, there are some good ones that are actually attainable if I try hard enough, so I guess I'll save up and get them later.

For a while I've only used the skill points on the Evil Eye or stamina skills, but once I'm done with those I'll have some left over, I think I'll expand my repertoire.

And for the new and improved Detection-kun it turns out that I can now use Appraisal-chan on information that I can sense with Detection-kun.

However, since the information provided by Detection -kun, is in fact very detailed, there is usually no need to examine it further.

So, while it doesn't seem to be particularly useful at the moment, it's not like there's any downside to having it, and maybe it will be useful someday.

Finally, and most important of all, an automatic mapping function was added!

OH MY GOD

I can even see maps of any place I have already been to, from the time of my birth, even from before I had Wisdom-sama!

That's amazing. Seriously.

The parts of the Great Elroe Maze, over which I was randomly wandering all this time are perfectly clear on this map!

This labyrinth is simply too big...

Here is the partial map of the Upper Layer where I started, the Lower Layer where I fell, and the Middle Layer where I am currently transiting.

When I try to put them all together to get an idea of the distances, the whole thing is easily the size of Hokkaido. And you're telling me it's all just a fraction of this place (NA: Hokkaido is 83,454 km2, slightly larger than Jalisco or about 1/3 of Chihuahua).

Anyway, based on my estimates of the distance between the Middle Layer and the Upper Layer, I think I still have a long way to go.

It's just an estimate - and maybe I'll get lucky and find a slope that will take me up or something - but I guess I'd better assume this is going to be a long trip.

Oh yeah, and that mysterious confusing skill (n=W) is still impossible to use Appraisal on.

Wow, I hadn't considered it until just now when I analyzed all that, but I thought I was going to die a few moments ago.

In fact, I technically died, considering my Hp was at 0.

If it weren't for Patience, I would have really died.

Imagine suffering such a stupid death, because of the mistake of the one who takes care of our body.

I still don't know how you can confuse Weak Poison with Deadly Poison and on top of that with paralysis.

So much for a glorious life.

D, I know you are watching this, and most likely you have recorded this. Please delete it. Thank you~

Anyway, at least confirm the effects of Patience even if accidentally.

Instead of reviving if my Hp runs out, it is more like once my Hp is 0, my Mp will start to be used instead.

Taking into account the amount of Mp that ended because of poison, I think that basically my Mp is used as temporary Hp.

So, any damage that affects my Hp is subtracted from my Mp instead.

In a way it is as if my Hp and Mp were linked.

So, if I were to be hit by a really big attack, my Mp could be completely drained as well.

But thanks to Celestial Power my Mp is now absurdly high, so I guess I'm pretty resilient now.

However, since I will also use my Mp for its original purpose, it is probably best to think of it as an emergency countermeasure.

So, thanks to Celestial Power, my magic stats are all absurd. It would be a waste not to use them right?

That's when Height of Occultism shines!

Yay!

This skill is like the ultimate version of Magic Power Manipulation, the skill I waited all this time for - the final piece of the puzzle to use magic!

Wonderful!

On top of that, it's a promotional package that includes all kinds of convenient Mp-related skills!

[H-How can that be?!]

Don't worry, we've already added it to your shopping cart and paid for you!

Congratulations to me!

I was forgetting, Height of Occultism. This skill is truly absurd.

It is as if I had already maximized Magic Power Manipulation, Mp Rapid Recovery and Mp Lessened Consumption all in one.

My Mp, which was halved when I would have effectively died a minute ago, is fully regenerated.

It recovers at a rate of 2 to 3 points per second, so it only took 10 minutes.

Can you even imagine? It's like an all-you-can-use buffet of MP.

And since I have Mp Lessened Consumption, it should be reduced more slowly when not used by Patience.

As long as I don't screw up, I shouldn't be able to use it as much as I want to.

As well as that I can keep Evil Eye active all the time, and it recovers so fast, it's like not using Mp at all.

This being the case, perhaps you should leave it that way all the time.

Well, if it's prepared here, of course I want to use magic

But I still don't know how.

At least, I didn't know it until now! That's right, I finally learned how to use magic!

Once again, this discovery is thanks to Wisdom-sama, which now comes with a new search feature.

Not that it's Spoogle, of course, but if you search for a word related to the skills system, it will display an explanation.

That's right, I finally have a user manual, or something like it. Better late than never, right?

So, I researched how to use magic.

According to the search, there are several steps in order to use magic.

First. You must be able to recognize magic power. This is what the so-called Magic Power Perception does.

If you can't feel the existence of magical power, you can't use it as fuel to activate any spells. So, it is a very important building block of the whole process.

Thanks to Wisdom-sama, I have acquired Magic Power Perception.

Next, you must be able to manipulate that magical power.

You can imagine that the magic power is dense liquid. Then you want that liquid to move according to your wishes.

This is essentially Magic Power Manipulation. It's even better if you are able to move it fast or in complicated patterns.

Usually, you have to go through a lot of training and gradually learn how to manipulate it. But thanks to Height of Occultism, I can manipulate mine as I please.

Next comes the runic construction.

Each variation of magic has its own set, so you select the corresponding rune, which is automatically formed by you.

Once built, you can imagine some sort of piping, I guess?

The speed of construction is directly proportional to your statistics.

Once again, since my rune stats are maxed out, the rune is generated at the same instant I select it. Seriously, it's like I'm suddenly using cheat codes.

Finally, you pour some magical power over the entire rune, and the magic is complete.

It feels similar to some kind of liquid spilling out of a pipe.

And when the liquid reaches the end, it finally transforms into a phenomenon that affects the physical world.

It is at this point that, if you increase the amount of liquid flowing through the pipe, the attack power of the magic will increase, and if you increase the speed at which it flows, it shortens the time it takes to activate.

However, this will also add extra load to the pipeline.

Depending on its thickness, there is a limit to how much liquid it can hold at any given time.

Therefore, it must be sufficiently resistant, or it could burst under pressure.

If that were to happen, the rune would not be able to withstand the load, so the spell could miss its target or backfire.

More advanced magic has longer and more complicated runes, so the possibility of accidents increases.

To stabilize the rune, it is necessary to build larger, more solid pipelines.

That's no problem for me either, thanks to Height of Occultism.

Normally you would have to go through this entire process to activate a single spell.

But that's the point! Since I have Height of Occultism, I don't need to worry about all that crap!

For manipulating my magical power is like moving my body, and as soon as I select a spell, the optimal rune is forged instantly.

I can activate magic as easy as pouring water in a glass!

Since there are no monsters around at the moment, let's try an easy fact to check your results.

I guess I'll start with Poison Spell Lv 2: Poison Bullet.

The Heretic Magic is not useful without any objectives, and frankly, Shadow Magic doesn't feel like it's going to be impressive at all.

And if we're talking about Abyss Magic... Yeah, it feels like it's a little too advanced to be my first attempt.

And elemental magics feel very cliché to use, plus poison has always been something I've had with me since I was born into this world, it feels like it's better to give his magic the first try.

All right, here we go!

Rune Built!

Magic power port filled!

Poison Bullet activate!

Almost instantly, something black and round appears in front of me and then stretches like a straight line to the front.

Oh, wow!

It was so simple it was almost anticlimactic, but, still. I used magic.

It's amazing. I'm a little touched.

Poison Bullet does not seem to be very powerful.

Well, it doesn't use my Deadly Spider Poison after all.

Apparently, instead of using my poison, this spell generates it and fires one of its own.

Unlike my Deadly Spider Poison, it employs a mixture that is unique to this spell.

And even with my absurd magic power, it's still not as potent as my Deadly Spider Poison.

If I inject more magic power, I could make it stronger, but that being the case, I'd better use Poison Synthesis instead.

Well, the next thing is, I will try Poison Magic level 1, Poison Touch.

Supposedly it's a spell that causes poisoning damage to anything you touch, but I had to know I'd have some kind of problem.

At first, I thought this was incredibly powerful stuff for a level 1 spell, but guess what - it hurts me too.

It's another suicide bomb type ability, is it just me or do I have too much of this type.

Why deviate from my style just to activate this sad, weak, self-destructive power?

And since it is so ineffective, it wouldn't even really help to raise my current Proficiency.

I may still be able to find some use for Poison Bullet, but Poison Touch seems to be totally embarrassing.

Next, time to test Shadow Magic.

The result is, un, omitted because it was plain.

I can't try Heretic Magic without any target, so I'll try it the next time I take on a monster.

Still, since it's some kind of mental attack, I don't know if I can discern if it's working or not just by looking.

The elemental magics I have did exactly what they were expected to do.

Fire Magic. Water Magic. Earth Magic, Electric Magic, Ice Magic and Wind Magic. They all did what I expected them to do, they invoked their element.

Interestingly, they all have the same Lv 1 spell except Electric Magic, a fireball of some kind. Electric Magic instead has Lightning, which fires an electric bolt.

Finally, we have the final boss lurking behind your back. Abyss Magic.

The very thought of trying makes my heart pound at full prose. For more than one reason.

I mean, this is going to be pretty crazy, right?

When I got Wisdom-sama, I tried to double Appraisal on this one once again, but the description remains unchanged.

I still don't have an idea of the effect of this spell.

Obviously, it's some kind of advanced level black magic, but that's pretty much all I know.

It could become a powerful resource if I learn how to use it, but not knowing what might happen is unsettling.

Thanks to the effects of Height of Occultism, I'm not worried about failing, but it still terrifies me.

However, of all the magical skills I possess, this is the one that sounds the most magical of all magics.

I mean, it carries that sinister Dark Arts prefix that sounds a bit.

How could I not be excited!

All right, let's start by testing the level 1 spell, Hell Gate.

Here we go!

Rune Built!

...Nai wa?

W-Wait a minute! You're telling me that even with Height of Occultism I can't control it?!

Why is its construction so ridiculously complicated?!

Ugh. I can't do it.

That stupid rune escaped my control and shattered into pieces while it was still being formed.

I want to say "That's ridiculous".

Height of Occultism is supposedly the best of the magical skills, just as its name implies.

And even with that skill, can't I do it?

If it doesn't work for me, then how the hell could anyone in the world use Abyss Magic?

And if it's that hard to build, what kind of super absurd effect does it have?

But what's the point, if even level 1 is so difficult that no one could use it?

You tell me, if I use level 10, Rebellion Hell, would it be the end of the world and that's it?

Ha-ha, I'm sure that's not the case, right? It can't possibly be like that, right?

Well, if level 1 is already this hard, I guess I'll never be able to use the higher ones anyway.

No, wait. I can't give up so fast.

Sure, it's difficult, but that's because I just started using magic. I'm still a beginner.

Other magic users probably worked really hard, practicing and raising their skills and stuff, but I skipped all that by getting these unbalanced skills.

In other words, I'm not used to it yet.

That's why, although I can use simple magic thanks to my skills, for more advanced magic I lack experience. I bet that's all.

In which case, the answer should be simple - practice makes perfect!

So then. Karada-chan.

[Hey, Akira-chan. I know what you're up to, but...]

Oh well, do you already know?

[Mm-Hmm. However, what are we going to do with the information if you do that]?

I don't know, couldn't you take some of my responsibilities?

[In theory, of course, but I would be doing twice the work, I probably wouldn't be efficient enough...].

Hmm.

Proficiency has reached the required level. Skill [Parallel Minds Lv 1] has become [Parallel Minds Lv 3].

Wow, just in time!

Hello, me number three.

{Heeeeeellooo. Don't worry - listen to everything. Now that I'm here, everything will be fine!}

Great! All right, number 3. You'll be the one in charge of magic, Miho-chan!

{All right, I'm on it}

So, now with Parallel Mind raising its level, I can have three different minds at the same time.

The positions held by Karada-chan and myself, as body in charge and information in charge, remain unchanged.

And the completely new magic in charge, Miho-chan, is concentrating on Abyss Magic in the meantime.

Thanks to the title Ruler of Patience, the rise of the magic related skill proficiency should be improved, and if I level up Poison Magic and Shadow Magic, they should be useful eventually.

And, above all, if we were in battle, Miho-chan can support independently using magic.

Poison Bullet doesn't do much on its own, but used in cooperation with Karada-chan, its net worth skyrockets.

It can be used for all sorts of things, such as distraction, or unexpected attacks.

I, Akira as the information in charge, will have the important role of assessing the situation.

We will be like the holy trinity.

Man, I impress myself once again.

My stats are now much higher, and I can now move while shooting magic all at the same time.

I know you wouldn't want to fight me, would you?

Wow, am I super strong right now or what?

All things considered, my campaign through the Middle Layer has gone quite well.

I defeated a lot of monsters, I leveled up quite a bit, and my skills are growing as well.

In addition, I discovered another feature of Gluttony.

I can also use it to store Hp and MP.

Before I had it configured only for Sp, but now I can apply it for Hp and MP.

The amount that can be stored for them is the same as Sp, but that doesn't make it any less impressive.

Really, any increase to my Hp is reason enough to make me happy.

And with the added effect of Patience, and as long as I have my Hp and Mp increased, my chances of survival increase.

I already have an excessive amount of Mp, but if I can store any amount over it, so much the better.

I don't really benefit from the no weight gain part, though.

I mean, I wasn't gaining weight before anyway, would it be part of Gluttony or would it be another reason?

Wait, what was the effect of Gluttony? I don't remember.

Gluttony: n% of the power to reach godhood. Allows the user to eat anything and stock it away as pure energy. In addition, the W system is surpassed and the right to interfere with the MA field is obtained.

Hmm, so... I store food as energy? And help those weird fields.

What is the maximum I can store? So far, I have not reached this maximum.

Part of me tells me it has no limit.

Could it be my Japanese anti-waste nature?

Well, it's not like I store a lot of Sp, since I spend quite a bit of the Sp on my natural moves.

Specifically, I am running and/or jumping as I go along.

By doing this, I also become more proficient in skills such as Skanda.

As a result, both this skill and some others have increased their level.

Instantaneous and Persistent advanced similarly, and are now at the maximum level.

They evolved into Instant Body and Endurance, respectively, adding a growth multiplier to the corresponding statistics.

With this, I now have a correction bonus on all my stats every time I level up.

Even though the magic-related ones are already progressing insanely fast thanks to Wisdom's effects and I'm already really fast thanks to Skanda.

Hmm. I'm supposed to be a fast physical type, but looking at my stats I'm more like a fast magic type.

I mean, even if my magic-related skills became all better...

...none is even as powerful as Deadly Spider Poison.

So, when I find myself in a serious fight, Deadly Spider Poison is my main trump card, while my magic is more of a support skill.

There really isn't much I can do about it.

After all, my spider venom and threads are the two main reasons I got this far in the first place.

If magic suddenly appeared out of nowhere and overtook her just like that, I would feel that all my hard work was useless.

Ugh, that reminds me of my no threading rule, I regret creating it in the first place. I want to get out of here, let me get the hell out of here!

When I get to the Upper Layer, I will build my house immediately and spend some time just researching skills.

After that, I'm honestly not sure what I'll do after that.

I know I shouldn't worry about it, but I really can't get it out of my mind.

Administrators, skills, D.

If I want to know more about them, I will have to ask someone who has more information.

But what do people in this world think about administrators anyway? I have no idea.

Really, if you think about it, it's not possible for me to communicate with anyone in this place, huh?

[You got me!]

{And me too!}

Thanks girls, I appreciate the gesture, but, you are just me too! I'm talking about other people, just like OTHER people!

Nai wa, now that there are enough idiots on board, it's extra complicated for me the brain keeper, aka the only smart one on board.

Anyway, if so, communication.

It's not like I communicated much in my previous lives, anyway, but I was able to get enough information thanks to the internet.

But not anymore. I have Wisdom-sama, but I can't just search for all my information through skills.

Besides, even if I could look it up, I wouldn't be able to get to the heart of the matter.

Any information that may be connected to the administrators cannot be evaluated by Appraisal-chan.

The only thing that comes out of System-chan when I ask her is:

You doesn't have sufficient authority to know.

Nai wa.

Really, from a global perspective, I'm just an indoor person who never went out.

I have been in the Great Elroe Maze for my entire life.

Can you blame me for not knowing anything about the state of the world when I have been trapped inside without any feedback?

If I really want to find out more about the administrators, I must get out of this labyrinth and interact with many people who live in this world.

But I'm a freak, and I can't talk. How am I supposed to carry on a normal conversation?

Even with Telepathy, it would only get me so far.

Well... I can't do anything about being a monster, but maybe I can do something about talking after all.

And the answer is to evolve into a certain monster.

Do you see it? Here is a new tool provided by Wisdom-sama: a tree of evolutions.

By studying it, I can glimpse what kind of monster it is that I can evolve into in the future.

Whatever it was to evolve so far, I chose it mainly by relying on my intuition, but apparently, I was right.

Looking at my tree of evolutions, I can see so far that I have chosen poisonous types and relatively rare species. Including my current species, Zoa Ele.

But that's not the important point just now.

What is really important is the information I found about a certain monster that appears further down my evolutionary line.

My original objective.

Arachne: A monster with the lower body of a spider and the upper body of a human being.

As a concept, it is well known, even in Japan.

If I want to evolve in that way, it will be a long road, but I can do it.

And if my upper body is that of a human, I will probably be able to speak.

The problem is that I'll still be a monster, so I'm not sure if humans will be willing to talk to me.

Still, however, being able to have a human body - even if it's only half of one - makes a big difference.

Sure, I've gotten used to my spidery body and all, but what kind of perfectly healthy ex-human girl would want to spend the rest of her life this way?

You wouldn't, would you?

If I have the chance to be even partially human, of course I'm going to try.

But there is no need to think about it for now.

It will be a long time before I have to decide whether to go that route.

I have to get out of the Middle Layer before I can even consider leaving the maze in the first place.

I'll worry about the rest later.
