CHAPTER SIXTEEN
"Won't you come with us, Cordelia, dear," and I tuned out. No need to listen to this trash. Where was Levi, though? Since the 30-second-long performance had ended, he should have been here by now.
"Listen to us when we're talking to you!" The annoying rat snapped, and I glared silently, peeking out the curtains and not even listening. As my hair was grabbed for the millionth time, I whacked the hand away with one metal wing. Where was Levi? I was in trouble now, since the Rat had brought a pack of other sewer scavengers. Levi! Levi! Levi! I won't pay you after this, bruh! HELP!
But, no one came. I didnt have any main character luck like the original heroine, so my hair was tugged out, and I was shoved to the ground. The rat stepped on my backbone with one fat foot, pinning me helplessly to the ground since I had no muscle mass. "Now, tell me. How are you wearing that?" the rat squeaked, and I craned my neck to glare, although it was with some difficulty. "Like Im going to tell you. But, there's something I want to ask too."
"What do you think will happen to you if that crowd, who was worshipping me for singing a single line 5 minutes ago, finds out what you're doing right now?" I asked, calmly smiling. "You'll be beaten to death."
Checkmate. The rat's grimy paw instantly moved off my back. Saved! Yes, but where was Levi? Suddenly, I got tapped on the shoulder. "Cor, get behind me." A voice said. Levi. "Took you long enough. what were you doing anyway-" I said turning around, but the answer was in front of me. Levi was dripping in blood. "It's not mine, but it looks like the rat bright along a hunting pack." Levi mused, and I nodded. "My thoughts exactly.
Yeah! That's why you hire a street fighter! Good job, Levi! "Oh, your bandages are going to fall off," I said, glancing at Levi's mummified fingers. Yep. The fact that I wrote that curse meant I knew best about it. If those bandages fell off - my divine power wouldn't be enough to combat it. The that was around Levi's hands itself would start smelling like rotting flesh.
"...How much do you know about the curse?" Levi asked, and I turned to leave. I actually knew more than Levi himself, but I couldn't say that. "Enough to know that I'm going to die if I breathe in the air that's going to be around you in a few minutes. My divine power isn't that strong yet. Bye, see you later." I said cheerfully, but my hand was burning up and so was my forehead. I guess I'd like to find a nice spot to sit down - ALONE. WITHOUT A CROWD.
