Chapter 46: Taking Flight

"It is true you can use your inner energy to achieve flight. I assume it is not an easy technique to master.", Zastin also wondered.

"If one isn't a fighter or a practitioner for a long time, it could prove difficult to master. Let alone have ki for it. Thanks to the family I grew up with, I've been fighting from a young age.", I answered, hinting at a white lie again, considering I took over Baki's body. Through the system God gave me, it unlocked my ki, but I do wonder would the original Baki eventually unlock it?

Moreover, this meshed world not only contains ki, but also cursed energy and magic. Three different types of energy, and with how expansive the MCU-verse is, there could be more potential types of energies out there that I didn't know of.

"It'll be the first time I attempt to fly, but I think I can. You two are Devilukeans. Does your race fly?", I wondered, asking the two. Zastin shook his head.

"Sadly, we don't. Lala-sama here has an invention that lets her fly, however. It is part of her all-purpose robot. You've met him before, Peke.", Zastin explained.

"Yup! Peke is really useful you know.", Lala happily answered me as she pumped her arm upward.

"You don't need to give me that much praise, Lala-sama.", Peke's voice suddenly echoed around us. I blinked my eyes hearing Peke's voice, and I saw a small button over one of Lala's breasts. Right, we hadn't even gone clothes shopping yet, so despite her wearing this tank top, it was still part of Peke's utility. That also meant Peke watched everything that just happened.

I scratched the side of my cheek realizing that. Seeing Lala happy for the moment, I decided to use this time to check my stats again.

Before I proceed to fly, I need to see how much ki I currently have.

'Thanks to that latest session of Shadow Training, my ki has risen again. Can you show my stats, Aura?', I inwardly asked inside my thoughts.

"Of course, Master. Here you go.", Aura's voice echoed inside my mind

A large blue screen materialized inside my thoughts after Aura said that. This system really was designed with rewarding one's efforts in mind. My level was still one, but my stats could have improved significantly just by two and a half days passing now. Part of me still wonders if it was because of the Hanma bloodline, whose strength continues to grow, even if I didn't have to do anything?

That would be an experiment I may try out tomorrow. I've got a good handle on how milestones worked, and I'm content with my results, especially after having a good look at what was presented to me now. I know I asked to separate the skills out by those that boosted stats against those that do not, but this time can you separate them out via skills versus blessings? I figured it would be better to do this down the line, once cursed energy comes into play. If I start receiving curses all of a sudden, Curse Reversal will definitely come in handy.

Hearing that request, Aura's voice acknowledged it, and I began to review my status.

Seeing this, I inwardly smiled, but before I did anything else, I asked Aura to equip one of my titles for the first time.

I sucked in a cold breath. My speed now broke the 500s with that stat, but I didn't hear any notification sound off inside my mind. This is just a temporary boost, and it didn't include my base, right, Aura?

"Correct, Master. Titles affect various parameters, to which are temporary. If a title is changed from one to another, you will lose the prior effect. It is not permanent, and is not calculated to your base stats. It simply provides a boost. Your overall base speed is still at 350. That is why a milestone reward did not trigger.", Aura explained, confirming my assumption.

'That makes sense. I feel that would be too cheap and easy to abuse. I could just trigger extra milestones with no effort.', I mused to myself, thinking that.

"I share a similar sentiment, master. I was provided to assist you as you grow, and no one can have a free lunch, as the saying goes. The next time you need my assistance for your next Shadow Training session, I will be here.", Aura responded, causing me to inwardly smile.

'Thank you, Aura. I will be testing out the level up portion of the system today, and I want to see if my bloodline will trigger if I decide to take a rest day tomorrow.', I said, giving a rough outline of what was going to happen the next couple days.', I said, concluding my thoughts.

I opened my eyes again, and saw that Lala had completely calmed down now. Yet, to my surprise, it was just us two now. To my surprise, during my couple moments of silence, Zastin retreated, and he was no longer with us on the terrace. I couldn't help but blink my eyes. Lala happily chirped my way seeing the surprise in my eyes.

"Zastin decided it was time to bid farewell. He had gathered enough data, or so he says, anyways. Papa did approve our engagement, but I wonder what Zastin will report to him.", Lala explained, tilting her head a bit as she placed her hand on her chin.

"Well, Zastin-san could have at least said goodbye. But that just leaves the two of us. Zastin-san's going to miss the fun part. Still interested in seeing me fly?", I said, revealing a playful smile.

"Yeah! If you get the hang of it we can even take the skies together. My tools are quite good you know.", Lala said, puffing her chest out a bit. Doing that was quite dangerous, considering her breasts were on the larger end. Thanks to a certain mother of hers no less.

"Heh, we could even attempt it now. I will warn you, I can't fly for long. If we want to soar the skies together, I need to train more.", I said, shattering Lala's hope in an instant.

"Aww, but that's fine! Flying is not easy, especially without technology. Unless an alien race has a racial trait that lets them fly.", Lala said, explaining a bit of the cosmos to me, causing me to nod my head. The cosmos will come eventually, but presently, we humans are stuck here.

"Mmm.", I responded in acknowledgement with her words.

With that thought, I had another look at my Flight technique. I now had Advanced Runner equipped, and that meant my ki consumption was halved.

Maximum time: 490 seconds.

Roughly eight minutes before my ki completely runs dry. Not bad. I also glanced at my power level, and it shot up a few points, just from those two Shadow Training sessions. It was nice to see my numbers rise, but I still had no context to place those numbers against, so maybe trying to fight someone the likes of Doppo or one of his top disciples will do me good.

Thinking that, I started to channel the energy that was bursting inside my body. It felt vigorous and I felt full of life, feeling surging energy throughout. I initiated Ki Control, and started to direct that flow of ki to a certain area. I heard a sound ding, which meant that I was successful.

A slow-paced wind started to wrap around my feet, causing Lala's eyes to gaze downward. In but a mere moment or two, my feet started to elevate off the ground.

"Ooh!", Lala happily responded, seeing me successfully hover in the air. My ki started to rapidly tick downward as the moments passed. I wanted to soar higher, but I kept my figure to my house terrace. I didn't want our neighbors to suddenly see a flying boy.

[Ding! User Baki has taken flight for the first time. Now rewarding...] A sudden notification sounded off inside my mind, which began to grant me some rewards for taking the first step in flying.
