Chapter 1Chapter 1: Why Am I Here!?

"Why am I here!?"

Let's back up for a moment to where it all began.

This story begins in Japan, where a shut-in named Saiba Okumura lived. He was an everyday, normal shut-in. Saiba had black hair, black eyes, he was average height, and average weight. He was a pretty average person. He would usually stay in his room gaming, only leaving to eat or go to the bathroom. He lived a pretty normal life, until last night when he went to sleep.

Instead of waking up in his bed like usual, he managed to get himself transported into a different world.

That should bring us back to the present now.

Saiba lies on a hard brick floor surrounded by shadowy figures who look to be mages. He can hear the mages quietly whispering,

"He's finally awake..."

And,

"Couldn't we have chosen someone quieter?"

That second line made him a bit annoyed.

In the crowd, Saiba notices a large man cutting his way through towards him. The large man breaks through the crowd and stands above Saiba.

The man is very tall and he seems to be wearing some sort of crown. He also has blonde hair, brown eyes, and he is wearing a luscious, red robe.

The man suddenly exclaims in a loud booming voice,

"Welcome to the Kingdom of Estrelia! You have been summoned by yours truly, King Gladius IV! I have chosen you to become the Hero of this kingdom and save us from the Underworld's forces!"

Multiple questions appear in Saiba's mind as his situation is being explained to him. Saiba awkwardly asks,

"Wait hero? Me? Are you sure?"

King Gladius quickly answers,

"Of course! You are the legendary 'XxDemon_SlayerxX', right?"

"It says here you are of the 'Adventurer' class and that you are 'Level 112'!"

The King says as he is reading his information off of a device that looks eerily similar to a familiar game console.

Saiba cringes from hearing his embarrassing username. He asks the King,

"That's one of those consoles right?"

The King replies,

"Console? What is that? This here is one our strongest grimoires! We call it the 'SD'! This device is our main source of information! It is the very device that led us to finding you, Great Hero!"

Saiba hears more whispers around him like,

"Is this kid really Level 112?"

And,

"He's seems kinda dumb for such a high level Adventurer..."

Saiba, looking to strengthen his reputation, stands up confidently and announces,

"Why yes! It is I, XxDemon_SlayerxX, however, I go by a different name now! Please call me Saiba! I will become your hero and save you from the Underworldly threats!"

Cheers fill the room as the Mages begin rallying Saiba, shouting things like,

"Go Saiba!"

and

"Go Mr. Demon Slayer!"

With an annoyed look on his face, Saiba shouts,

"It's Saiba now! Don't call me Demon Slayer!"

The King stops the chanting and says,

"Now then! O Saiba the Adventurer, if you may come with me and I will provide you with some necessary equipment for your treacherous journey."

Saiba eagerly follows King Gladius.
