I sure do hope they get more excited over science." -Professor Vaughn Killford.

Tape 2.3: Teacher, Student, And Zero

As everyone is either confused, speechless, or in shock after learning what their professor has been trying to do just to survive childhood.

"So that was the second tape's first half." Said Leon as he lays down on the bed facing the ceiling.

"Should we talk about what we saw guys?" Said Ophelia.

"I don't have any comment for now." Said Seraph as she thinks deeply.

"I guess this is majority then. We'll have to soldier on, hopefully things get better from here." Said Winston. As they continue on to playing the second tape.

Welcome to the second half of the tape. I hope you kids did your discussion or not. I understand if you kids are a bit surprised or a bit disgusted on what I went through as a child. But this second half would be better now.

Because my life was about to turn for the better as I went to my 13th birthday. But before that the context before I turned 13. I was 9 when I left off the story but it still lays the same as I mostly kept on doing training and studying for the next 2 years, until I reached the age of 11. My body during that time was pretty built for a child.

With the help of a bit of conditioning I did improve upon all aspects of my body. Even made my appetite for war subside for now as I kept on training. Harder, faster, and even stronger. I did some support missions again though when I was 12 they had to put me on the list again for help.

But then my 13th birthday comes around the corner. And they assembled everyone of us 13 year old's on the open grounds where a platform was prepared and the boss of the factory spoke to us and told us that this is graduation for this program for us and its time to prove themselves if they are worthy of their skills.

"I am proud that we have a lot of very talented soldiers this year but we have to do this once again and to prove your place here we must conduct one of Black Forest Company's main event. Only 10 kids will become part of Black Forest Company and or will become this man's personal soldier here." Said the Boss of the factory as a man in a black suit walks up the stage wearing full leather gloves while overlooking everyone of us.

He made eye contact with me for a bit but quickly scanned everyone. The boss announced that we have to kill each other to prove ourselves that we are worthy of the Black Forest Company's full time employment and one random kid will become this mysterious man's personal soldier for his company.

From the looks of it we have to fight for our survival again. Despite climbing up to the highest rank a kid like me at that age could achieve. This is I guess their way to weed out the kids who cheated their way up here. Giving them a control sample of those who succeed doing their part and working hard to go up the ranks.

I know I'm one of them but theoretically only 11 kids will be saved out of like 100 of us. I know it was harsh and I did too. We were all sedated after the announcement and soon we woke up in a unknown forest with no compass, no guidance, a 9mm pistol at hand with 3 magazines only, a knife, and tools we specialize in.

They gave me an explosives making kit. Which maybe the reason why I won the killing game. I used my surrounding area's materials to make some explosive traps using shrapnel, broken rusted nails, glass shards, and sharp rocks.

For the rest of the day I played it very passively. Taking them down using my traps. We each had earpieces though they're only for announcements they don't have mics. We only hear how many kids are left. 87... 82... 78... 67... They're dropping like flies you hear gunshots, screams of pain, bones breaking, and blood splattered across the forest floor.

Dead bodies were every where as we reach the half-way point of the killing game of theirs. I had a bit of physical confrontation with another kid while I was walking around.

"You were the lucky one!" Said the kid.

"What the hell are you saying?" I replied.

"You're a member of the SCD. You guys get the better special treatment. While we suffer down on the lower classes." Said the kid.

"You're complaining something that's your problem. Being selected on the SCD takes skill, and you lack the single smidge of skill if you act like that. You lack every thing what an SCD member needs. If you have anything else to cry about on things you yourself lack then your anger is pretty much useless if you think that way." I replied.

From that point I only see him struggling on his anger to end it I snapped his neck to end his ever whiney replies that is making my ears ring. I dedicate hard work so I only told him the truth why I was an SCD member and not him. I told him all the things he lacked and he only struggled and showed only despair and not trying to fix his own problems.

A sore loser from what I thought of him. But in the end a lot of the losers were stabbed on a stake to show them slowly dying as the lucky 11 which I was one of them as I saw one of my old partners there slowly getting stabbed by a long stake looking at me angrily as I succeed while he dies like a peasant...

That was until I was the one who got picked by the mysterious man as he places his palm on my head patting it and telling me things are gonna be different. He holds me by my cheeks forcing me to stare at his eyes. Which was blank, empty, feels like the person doesn't have an identity.

"I want you to join me in Zero. You will be a new reborn, child. You will lose yourself here and become a new man. Your hunger for war and violence will subside, you will become a Zero." Said the mysterious man.

Vaughn leaves BFC and joins a mysterious man that says he will become "Zero" the kids learn the climax of their professor's childhood and things are gonna get better or worst from here on out. Did you like the new chapter? A comment or review is appreciated.
