Chapter 80: "Room of Requirements and Ravenclaw's Diadem Part - 2"

After leaving the Room of Hidden Things, Harry watched as the doorway vanished, merging seamlessly with the rest of the wall. He paused momentarily, then paced back and forth in front of where the door had been, concentrating on finding a secure location within the castle to both destroy the Horcrux and repair the Diadem of Ravenclaw.

As he focused on this new requirement, another door materialized on the previously blank stretch of wall. Eager and undeterred, Harry stepped into the newly formed space.

This room was shrouded in darkness, resembling a ritual chamber one might find in a castle devoted to darker arts. At the center stood a pedestal, atop which sat a bowl filled with a mysterious liquid, and beside it, a mannequin head designed to hold a crown or tiara. On a nearby surface, Harry noticed a piece of parchment.

The parchment laid out detailed instructions for the task at hand. To rid the Diadem of its Horcrux, Harry needed to immerse it in the provided liquid. The instructions then guided him to place the cleansed Diadem onto the mannequin's head and cast a simple "Reparo" spell to mend any damage it might have sustained. The magic inherent to Hogwarts itself would bolster the spell, ensuring the Diadem was restored to its original state.

Harry couldn't help but appreciate the room's foresight and generosity. Although he didn't require the liquid for the Horcrux's destruction — having other plans for that — the method to repair the Diadem was indeed a fortunate discovery.

Harry carefully placed the diadem on the pedestal in front of him. With a deep breath, he took out his wand, focusing intensely on the crucial task ahead. He drew upon the memory of the specific spell Sirius had used to destroy the Horcrux within Slytherin's locket, aiming to replicate its effect on the diadem before him.

As Harry cast the spell, a dazzling burst of white light erupted from his wand, enveloping the diadem in a fierce battle of light against darkness. Though Harry couldn't see the process directly due to the blinding brightness, he sensed the intense conflict as the light grappled with the malevolent force within the diadem.

Suddenly, a spectral form, bearing a striking resemblance to Voldemort, emerged over the brightness, issuing a harrowing scream as it was vanquished by the light, which then gently dissipated and seemed to merge into Harry.

The aftermath left Harry feeling unchanged, an outcome he anticipated, aware that the benefits of absorbing soul energy weren't immediately apparent. He anticipated, however, that this action might accelerate his learning ability in the days to come, a subtle yet profound enhancement to his magical prowess.

Turning his attention to the diadem's restoration, Harry positioned it atop a mannequin specifically provided for this purpose. He then uttered the "Reparo" spell with confidence.

To his amazement, the spell initiated a process of magical repair, facilitated by the glow emanating from the mannequin's head, indicating Hogwarts' own magic lending aid to the task. This glow seemed to purge the diadem of any lingering dark influences while mending its physical form.

Witnessing the transformation, Harry saw the diadem regain its pristine condition, now rid of the dark taint it once carried. In mere moments, he had successfully preserved another piece of Hogwarts' heritage, adding the fully restored Ravenclaw Diadem to his growing collection of significant magical artifacts.

Curious about the diadem's magical abilities, Harry tried it on. He felt a bit silly wearing it, but quickly noticed his thoughts were sharper and more focused. There didn't seem to be any other obvious benefits, but he was eager to explore its capabilities further.

Pulling out a Charms textbook for sixth-years from his bag, Harry dove into reading. The more he read, the clearer the diadem's true power became to him. To test its effects, he chose a new spell he hadn't tried before and started practicing. To his delight, he found the results thrilling.

The diadem didn't make him smarter in the traditional sense. Instead, it enhanced his ability to understand complex information quickly. Previously, Harry needed time to grasp a paragraph's meaning, but now, he could comprehend it almost immediately. This improvement also applied to learning spells; he could identify and correct his mistakes much faster than before, allowing him to master new spells in significantly less time.

The diadem was a marvel, a testament to Rowena Ravenclaw's genius in crafting such a powerful magical artifact. It felt like it defied the very laws of magic.

This discovery filled Harry with joy. He now felt he could fully enjoy his Hogwarts experience, engaging in fun activities without the pressure of falling behind in his studies. Thanks to the diadem, his ability to learn and understand new information had greatly improved, effectively doubling his learning speed.

After placing the diadem safely back into his bag, Harry exited the room. Wrapping himself in the invisibility cloak, he navigated his way through the corridors, aiming to reach the Ravenclaw common room before curfew. Harry was keen on avoiding any trouble for being out late during the initial weeks of school.

Once he was back in his dorm room, Harry spent some time assisting his roommates, Reginald and Roger, in refining their skills with the transfiguration spell they had learned that day.

After a productive session of spell practice, Harry prepared for bed, his mind already on the adventures that awaited him the next day. He and his new friends had arranged to embark on an exploration of Hogwarts.

Now that he had the Ravenclaw diadem safely in his bag, the overwhelming burden of academic pressure had lifted from his shoulders. This extraordinary artifact didn't just boost his ability to grasp and understand complex concepts swiftly; it granted him the liberty to immerse fully in the enchanting experiences Hogwarts had to offer. The worries that once clouded his mind—about keeping pace with his studies and strengthening himself for the inevitable confrontation with Voldemort—had reduced considerably.

Embracing the second chance life had presented him, Harry was eager to dive into the untapped joys of youth and the vibrant school life he had once overlooked. With the diadem's aid, he was assured of not just keeping up with his magical education but excelling in it, thereby freeing up his time to live in the moment.
