7 Gaining An Ability

Kano made sure to keep his eyes and ears attentive. His golden eyes lit up as he looked at Cupid. Cupid's eyes got stuck on Kano for a second but they quickly moved away.

Cupid: I'M SORRY TO BREAK IT TO YOU. BUT IF YOU ARE LACKING A GOD, YOU MUST CHALLENGE ANOTHER PERSON WHO IS ALSO LACKING A GOD. IF A GOD IS IMPRESSED, IT WILL CHOOSE YOU AS A WARRIOR. IF YOU ARE NOT CHOSEN, YOU MUST CONTINUE TO FIGHT.... THIS IS ONE OF THE ONLY STAGES WHERE IF YOU CANNOT PASS, YOU WILL LOSE YOUR LIFE. ONCE YOU GAIN A GOD, YOU WILL HAVE TO JOIN THE REST OF THE PARTICIPANTS.

You could hear some people in the crowd slowly gulp. They were never told this beforehand, they were not prepared for such news.

Cupid: FOR THE PEOPLE THAT DO HAVE A GOD SUPPORTING THEM. YOU WILL GAIN ABILITIES SIMILAR TO THOSE OF THAT GOD AND HIS "DOMAIN", FOR THIS STAGE, YOU MUST ACTIVATE A POWER LINKED TO YOUR GOD AND USE IT AT LEAST ONCE. IT IS AS SIMPLE AS THAT. I WILL REMIND YOU, IF YOU KEEP ON FAILING TO DO IT, YOU WILL EVENTUALLY DIE. I HOPE THE GODS HAVE CHOSEN WISELY. THERE IS ALSO NO KILLING OR FIGHTING IF YOU HAVE ATTAINED A GOD. YOU CAN DO THAT STUFF IN THE LATER STAGES.

Kano looked over to Musashi but Musashi was already in a sword stance with his eyes closed. He was in a trance-like state, something that would usually take decades to attain.

Kano: Cool, I think I'll try it myself.

Zeus: Cocky...

Kano brushed it off. He sat in a half lotus pose effortlessly and instinctively closed his eyes.

Zeus: It's all confidence here baby.

After a few minutes went by, Kano also entered the a different state. Kano could see a purple whisper that looked like a sprite. It was Zeus.

Zeus: So you found me, we're within your mind, also I don't care if I say things you already know.

Zeus: Well this is one of the ways to learn how to use your ability, actually this is one of the best ways. I'll guide you so listen up. I've given some thought about what I should teach you first. You know, is it gonna be something cliche like lightning or something... I said you know what, I'll make it something better.

Zeus: So, basically how this thing works is... you will gain an ability, however, it will be at its lowest level and lowest capability, but it can still evolve overtime. The first ability I'm going to teach you is called, ABSORB. The first level will allow you to absorb low level materials and take on their characteristics in order to add to your own power.
