I really did wish that I had listened to Harper earlier. Inside the room was a complete bloodbath. If I had to take a guess, the parts strewn all over the place used to belong to eight different people, seven men, and one woman. Some of the parts were partially devoured, while some were just thrown away like garbage.

What a waste, I thought.

If you are going to kill and eat meat, you might as well use every part of the kill, or else it would go to waste.

What a terrible thing to think about! What is wrong with me?. Why would I even think something so horrible? These people are savagely killed by demons for no good reason. All these people wanted was just to find some steady work for whatever reason and all they got out of it was a horrible death.

I honestly don't know what is worse: the demons that killed these people or the organization that trapped us on this island from hell?

"Come on, Ken," Noel pulls on my arm. "There is nothing we can do for them now."

"You're wrong, Noel," I say as I turn to leave the room. "I am going to kill every single demon on this island."

Harper and Noel shared a worried glance at each other.

"You cannot be serious right now?" Harper protests.

"I am. I cannot stand around and let innocent people get slaughtered when I have the power to stop it."

Harper shrugs. "If that is what you want to do, then we're not going to stop you."

"Just be sure not to go over your limits. It'll be a pain if you die too early."

I smile at her. "I don't plan on dying anytime soon."

I leave the room and make my way to the lobby again. A guy is running from a horde of imps wanting to bash his brains in and tear out his guts.

Rage consumes me as the thought of the guy getting brutally killed flashes in my mind. I have a perfect way to fight the demons in my mind. The same hellhounds that attacked my group at the beginning of this test, the difference between these hellhounds and the originals is that mines are made from flames and obey my commands.

They tear into the flesh of the imps with deadly sharp teeth and if the imps try to counterattack, they are burnt to a crisp. It's a two-for-one special for these monsters. The only problem is that they take a lot out of me, it's like I ran a triathlon. My entire body is covered in sweat and my heartbeat is trying to jump right out of my chest.

At least my power should be balanced out now, so I don't have to worry about freezing to death. After all of the imps were devoured by the hellfire dogs, I went to go check out the guy they were chasing.

"Are you alright?" I ask, kneeling next to him. He had tripped while trying to make his escape.

He nods his head.

The man thanked me and got back on his feet.

"What's a kid like you doing here? Shouldn't you be trying out for a sports team?"

I ignore his condescending attitude and just smile at him. He could mean well for all I know, but I think that a person should not be a smart ass to the person that saved their life.

"I've got my reasons. If you are fine, then I suggest you leave if you have already completed the task." I say with the confidence of a professional.

The stranger scoff but didn't argue. I figure that it wouldn't be a good idea to argue with a guy with superpowers. I should make sure that he gets off safely, but I do not detect any demonic life forms near the lobby, so I check the west wing.

The west wing had little demons and some survivors that were able to save. These people had the skills to survive fights with demons, whether by relying on magical items or by some martial arts training I could not tell you.

Now I have to check upstairs. To my surprise, it was clear of any signs of demons. But it looks like there was a fight that occurred in these halls long ago. The light shines through a hole in the roof and shows dust gliding into the air. It fills my lungs and I cough violently and the smell is horrible. I soon find out what that smell originated from. Skeletons litter the floor of the hall indicating that this is a graveyard of many hopeful demon hunters.

Just how long has this been going on? I thought to myself.

"Isn't this just peachy?" Harper says in an annoyed tone.

"What is it?" Noel asks.

"All this time I thought there would be tougher demons. But there is nothing here but imps and demonic beasts. There's no challenge at all!"

"Are you serious right now?" I protest.

"What?! I'm just speaking the truth. These demons here are all weak."

"You do know that people died, brutally I might add."

"Well excuse me for not caring, seeing as I am a ghost of a former half-demon," Harper says with her arms crossed over her chest.

I forgot that the Frosts were descendants of demons. They act like human girls that it is easy for me to forget. Then again, I have never interacted with a demon before. Angels and vampires sure, but a demon is rare in my neck of the neighborhood, Or maybe demons that live in proper society are different from demons who used to live in hell?

There is no point in me dwelling on things like that, I should continue to search for survivors. With the upstairs cleared of any signs of demonic activity, there's only one place for me to check, the castle basement.

I tell the ghost girls of my plan of checking out the basement.

"We might as well since we have an hour left," Noel informs me as she checks my cell phone for the time.

I took it back from her. How did she even manage to take it anyways?

"But we should proceed with caution," Noel warns.

"Why is that?"

Harper rolls her eyes. "Because basements are terrifying!"

"Not that," Noel shakes her head. "It's just that I get a bad feeling from that place."

"I'll take that into consideration, but I have to take that risk. It's not like I can run away at this point."

"True," Noel looks at the ground. "Just be careful."

I nod at her and make my way down to the basement.

I created this chapter dispite having writers block so I don't feel like this is my best. Despite that I want to publish this anyways, cheer me up!
