Meeting Cedric

The next day, Melanie dressed decently and left her house. She was dressed in a pale blue skirt and shirt. Her dark hair packed into a bun with some fringes. Melanie was known throughout Sandaltown . She came from a reputable and political household. The Robert's family were humans, but their reputation soar equally as the vampires except the pureblooded vampires who were on the top of the food chain.

Melanie a quiet and humbled lady was an example of a well mannered girl in the society, well educated and carries a sense of nobility.

Her feet's were faster today so she won't be late upon reaching the palace.

"Lady Melanie," a young man across the street called her. Melanie turned and bowed at the man. He's the new magistrate of Sandaltown, a flirt if he should be judged by his attitude.

"Sir Maxwell good morning," she greeted hastily. Trevor grin and stretch out his arm for Melanie to take but she stood there not caring if he offered his hand.

Seeing Melanie didn't take his hand as most ladies would do, he brought it back to his sides.

"I see you're leaving in a hurry. Mind if I give you a ride? hmm?" he placed his hand on her shoulder.

"I don't think so Sir Maxwell Trevor. I can go myself," Melanie said impatient but politely.

"Okay, if you say so. I heard you now live alone," he insisted. 'indeed, the whole town would know sooner or later' Melanie thought.

"Yes... I do."

"Would you mind me visiting some other days?" Trevor said with a warm smile on his fine face. One would be fooled by him if they don't know what he does in the dark. A man who would sleep with both married and unmarried women just to pleasure himself as a vampire.

"I believe you don't want to come and find an empty house. Do we?" Melanie face slap him with her words and hurried away before he could respond.

Trevor was a bit annoyed at her words but he didn't mind. He grinned cunningly, he would surely find a way to put the sharp tongued human on his bed.

Melanie stood at the side of the busy road and waited for the towns carriage. She haven't gone to the palace for the past two weeks as she was busy arranging and adjusting to her new home. Few minutes later,a carriage pulled to a halt. She quickly walk to the carriage and ask the coachman,

"Darkvalley?"

"Get in,"

Darkvalley is the biggest and most neatest town in the land of Livingston. It was majorly populated by vampires and few humans.

She entered the local carriage and sat on the opposite seat because a man was sitting on the other side. Inside the carriage, she sat uneasily because the man inside keep staring at her. The air around him wasn't like that of the poor locals or rich ones, it has a sense of arrogance and serenity at the same time. She was not used to people staring at her like this.

"Good day, Sir," she greeted the man before raising her head to look at him. He was putting on a black jacket that look modest. His beauty was charming but his eyes... those eyes seems familiar.

The man was taken aback by the unexpected pleasantry.

"Good morning young lady. I was wondering why I received a good day greeting," Cedric said and grinned politely.

Melanie bit her inner cheek, maybe she got the wrong instinct that this man was staring at her. And she didn't see him because her head was down since she got into the carriage.

"I'm sorry if you don't appreciate it but can you stop gawking at me?" she finally let the cat out of the bag without beating around the bush.

Cedric made an 'oh' before nodding his head. This governess is very conscious of her surrounding. He knew she was Fergus governess the moment she got in the carriage and she was actually heading to the palace.

"That's because you're beautiful, lady. You see, men from reputable background don't fool around with women. They're quiet but their eyes are feasted on you and when the right time comes, they catch you unaware and make you theirs. Men like me, " Cedric grinned wickedly to scare the girl but her face was stern without any sign of weakness.

" You see Mr. Few ladies from reputable background don't run around looking for men of wealth and valour. No matter how many times you catch them, they're unshakable and are always prepared for the inevitable because they cherish their reputation. Women like me, " Melanie rephrased his words wisely and smiled sweetly at him.

She knew the man was talking about himself so she also told him hers. Cedric's smile froze on his face. He thought the lady would be scared at what he said but just like what she said, she was unshakable and didn't show any sign of weakness.

Maybe this is the reason why Fergus likes this governess so much. She could stand her ground. 'Such women are fit for Darrick' he said inwardly and shook his head. "Young lady, I must say you're very wise. Splendid, " he praise her.

Melanie smiled and bowed a little, " thanks you."

'Idiot' she thought and smiled even more.

The carriage came to a halt at a large busy town. After paying the coachman some silver coins, she head for the palace on foot because it wasn't far from here. Beside her was the man again. "Sir are you going to be palace?" she ask.

"Yes. What are you doing there?" he ask in pretense.

" I'm a governess," Melanie simply said. She didn't tell him what she was doing there because he was a stranger. " You?"

" I work there as a henchman to the Lord." Cedric lied.

" I guess we'd be likely to cross path with each other," he added.

' I don't think so ' Melanie thought.
