Chapter 1 - The Party

It seemed like a blur of people, all jumping in unison, high on the music playing. For a quick second I made eye contact with him who was sat by himself watching everyone. I  glanced a few times before making up my mind. The walk to him dragged on forever like an optical illusion playing me like a fool. I leaned in close to his ear to whisper. Seeing how it made him flinch a little was oddly enticing.

"Hey, you okay?" He looked at me. I wonder whether he knew who I was. His face didn't give any clue; his mouth moved. Giving a confused expression, he gave an eye roll and signalled me to come closer. Instead, I sat next to him, with our legs barely touching each other.

"I'm fine. Why are you here?"

"I saw you and you looked bored so why not." The little smirk that escaped was like a pat on the back for lying so well.

"Just go, I'm fine." He groaned, shuffling in his small space not giving me any eye contact.

"Now why would I leave you all on your own?" Narrowing his eyes, he gifted me a glance.

"I didn't think you would be so bold."

"You know me?" I could help but chuckle when we locked eyes.

"I see you here and there." He looked away not allowing me to continue staring at his face.

"I didn't know I'll be noticed by you. Should I reward you with a kiss?" Noticing his face was clearly grimacing, I let out another chuckle. My question was answered by his silence.

"So, what are you doing all alone in this corner?" I asked.

"I'm not alone, I'm with my friends." He snapped back but seeing how he wasn't angry, I continued to pry.

"Unless they're imaginary ones, I don't see them but there is nothing wrong with imaginary friends, just saying." Putting my hands up on defence, I shook my head lightly.

"They aren't imaginary; they just left to get a drink." I didn't realise that due to my teasing, I could clearly see his eyes.

Ah, how beautiful.

Snapping out of my trance, my eyes widened but relaxed at the same speed. He was so close.

"Oh so you do want your reward from earlier. You should have told me."

Surprisingly, instead of what I anticipated, him getting annoying, he kissed me. His eyes were closed concentrating on what he was doing. A brief thought crossed my mind, wishing that his eyes were open. He pried into my lips and wrestled my tongue, opposing his firm yet gentle grasp onto the back of my head but it was over as soon as it started. Pulling away, he grinned at my surprised face.

"Maybe I did want your reward."

He stood up and walked away, his back meshing in with the blur of people.

That night, I didn't see him again.
