Chapter 4

"Oh."

Wilbur and Jeanne were staring at another master and servant pair. "So there goes not being involved in the war I guess." Jeanne raised an eyebrow "You think?" Wilbur glared back "How was I supposed to know that going to a convenience store for a night snack would result in us encountering them!?"

He quickly flung his head back and smiled "Hello Emiya."

The servant clearly a Saber was confused by the master and servant duo.

"Master, we should take them down here and now."

Saber rushed before Emiya could even respond. Avenger simply retreated back while dragging Wilbur with her. Wilbur was left dangling in between her arms despite his taller height. "Oh didn't know you cared for me that much tsun-tsun."

*THUD*

"Really?"

Jeanne retorted before blocking an incoming strike with her blade as flames erupted from the slash. "How about I just ditch you?" Wilbur shook his head "I have no interest in this war. So I'll be leaving Emiya."

Wilbur took out a gold coin as he flipped it into the air before a flash of bright light spread as the coin vanished. A illusion veil was constructed as Wilbur dashed and slumped Jeanne onto his shoulders.

"Sayonara!"

~~~~
Emiya stared at the empty street after Saber had destroyed the source of the illusion, the small gold coin. Jeanne and Wilbur were each enjoying their own little snack at the convenience store behind Saber and Emiya. "So do tell me Master? Why did you bring us back here?"
Wilbur munched on his cake roll "You think I would waste a trip coming here without getting what I want?"
"Good point. So this is what the dress modifications were for."
He had gotten Jeanne to change into his modified dresses specifically made to conceal servant presences. Though he now had a new fidget toy to play with, namely Jeanne's ahoge. He kept flicking it and watching as it swung back and forth like a pendulum.
"So what is your wish Jeanne?"
Jeanne stopped eating as she responded "I want to become real. Like a real person instead of all this personified grief and anger. I fought and protected France from many monsters but in the end I was simply used."
"I assume you have a wish?"
Wilbur chuckled as his voice turned cold, the air and mana saturation in the air responded to his change. "Jeanne you may have fought many monsters, you may have been burnt at the stake, but let's be honest we all fear monsters."
"Except the monsters I fear the most are the monsters that lie and disguise themselves in human skin."
"You have seen the monsters but have not faced them, only played and framed by them."
"I have seen and faced the monsters disguised in human skin. Children cut up just to see what makes them different. Eyeballs torn out for collections, desperation to do anything to reach a goal. The mentality that the end justifies the mean."
"I have seen into the darkest and deepest pits of humanity."
"Though that's what makes them human. Some with a more stronger moral compass and those who have those thoughts instilled since birth."
"That is what I wish to change. Though I know the grail will not grant me that wish."
"For it is simply just a monkey's paw."
The rest of the snack time was in stale silence. Jeanne would sneak a few glances now and then. Truly there was an ethereal air around him that made him look- "Jeanne have you ever wondered why the bare nosed wombat craps cubes?"
"Tch" Her fantasies were ruined.
"OW! Why the hell would you hit me?"
Wilbur rubbed his head as he glared at her "What type of person starts a conversation with that?"
"I say what I want!"
"Anyways as the grail can't grant what I want then I need to do it myself. By becoming the strongest."
Jeanne questioned him "So you want to become the most powerful person on the planet?"
Wilbur shook his head "What do you think being the strongest means?"
Jeanne was confused but Wilbur stopped her "Being the strongest is being able to do what you want. If you want to kill, then you will kill. If you want to save and help. Then you can do that. If you want to teach then you can teach. Being strong is being able to do what you want when you want. A person can be the most powerful but what use is that if he is restrained from using that power?"
"Alright. I think it's time we head back."
Jeanne and Wilbur soon exited the convenience store before slowly walking back under the gaze of the moon.
Jeanne nudged her master as he nodded. A number of coins were pulled out and flung around them. A dome of light soon covered them as a multitude of arrows rained down upon them. The arrows hammered down relentlessly as Jeanne's dress was replaced with her usual black armour.
"You have got to be shitting me. I mean sure I needed the pigeon of luck to shit on us but not this way."
"Jeanne I'll provide the coordinate and you make sure that this spear gets there."
The dome was cracking as Jeanne watched Wilbur pull out a spear from his cloak. It seemed to emanate energy and power as he placed it on her hands before the spear itself contorted and twisted into something that looked like it could destroy everything in its path.
It was around two meters and pure white yet at the moment the white aura of the spear changed as the white spear started bleeding red. Its tip contorted and split before twisting into a single spiral tip.
Jeanne stared at her master who started to fling more coins around as they continued to mend and repair the dome. Currently Wilbur was reverse calculating the coordinates of the enemy Archer servant and simultaneously repairing the dome and enabling the spear.
"What is this thing?"
"A replica."
Wilbur's face was scrunched up as he muttered "Damn it. I wish that I had my mirrors right now. Shit."
"Anyways I'll be dropping it soon. From our position 40 degrees left from there." An illusion of a line showed Jeanne the direction of the throw as he told her "I can handle myself but you'll have to be quick as I can't guarantee you won't be hit. So you better be ready to launch it in an instant."
Jeanne smirked as she raised the spear into a throwing position as Wilbur gave the cue.
"Now!"
The barrier was dropped as a multitude of spears halted before reflecting just shy of his body as they dropped a few meters away from him. Wilbur's brain was in overdrive as he was continuously calculating the trajectory and velocity of each spear and reflecting them using the bounded field that covered his body just above the skin. It was inspired by a certain white albino. Although he didn't have the automatic reflection and due to the laws of physics and energy conservation he could not reflect it back with the same velocity.
Though he would work on that eventually.
Jeanne threw the spear with all her might as a streak of red and white light headed towards a building with her eyesight she could see a small pink hue shattering before the spear seemingly vanished as her master seemed to have a easier time reflecting the remnants of the last volley.
"Geez lucky I kept that spear on me."
Jeanne questioned him "Now answer me, what was that?"
Wilbur chuckled "Oh that? That was a replica of the Spear of Longinus. Specifically made in mind to pierce through any magecraft or mystery related barriers using my origin."
