Chapter 26 Explorers Guild(4)

Summoning the [Impish Shroud], Alex made his way to the dining area to fill his complaining stomach. Following the map he soon reached a spacious area, that unlike the rest of the interior of the building, had white floors and overall looked like a normal cafeteria with a lot of metal table and chairs, loud chatter and laughing and the smell of food in the air (hopefully for Alex's sake it doesn't taste like a school's cafeteria lunch). Looking around at friendly atmosphere he walked towards the counter where they were serving food and then Alex noticed something....the chatter stopped and everyone was looking at him. Ignoring them he continued towards the counter and ordered some food while simultaneously wondering why everyone was staring at him.

Soon it dawned on him that he was the only person wearing an arnament inside the cafeteria. Although it was not easy to tell whether they were wearing arnaments or not since someone was bound to start making arnaments that looked like ordinary clothes. From the few arnament Alex used and saw he had learned that arnaments gave off a subtle presence kind of like an aura that seems to be the lingering mana of the beast or monster it was made from. Look around once again and spreading his senses he couldn't sense anything like that coming from them intact all of them wore vibrant clothing that looked expensive in Alex's eyes. Paying for his meal, Alex walked to one of the few empty tables in the cafeteria and started chowing down on his food while ignoring everyone's stares.

Half way through his food, Alex felt a group of three shadows approaching him but didn't react and continued to eat his food.

"Hey there friend, you new here?" Asked one of the men in the group.

"As a matter of fact I am, I just became an explorer last night actually. Is there a problem?" Alex asked with a puzzled look on his face

"No, not really, it's just that it is unusual to see someone wear an armour arnament to the cafeteria." He replied

'Just like I thought.'

"Oh sorry about that but this is the only thing I have to wear at the moment. The rest of my clothes were destroyed." Alex shrugged

"Oh is that so. Ah where are my manners my name is Fredrick by the way." He said holding his hand out for a handshake. Fredrick was a handsome, muscular guy with black hair and brown eyes and he was wearing a white tee shirt and black jeans along with sunglasses in his head.

"Alex, a pleasure to meet you." Alex said shaking his hand with a smile on his face.

"Alex these two are my party members, meet Saya and Maya." Fredrick said pointing to the two red heads behind him. Both of the girls waved at Alex with smiles on their faces although Alex could tell that they were fake. Alex honestly couldn't tell the two of them apart both were tall, redheads with a sizeable bust and long legs. They both wore a button up shirt, a black skirt with black stockings and red heels although one wore a yellow shirt and the other wore red.

"Okay Alex it was nice to meet you. But we must be going now got some quests to complete." Fredrick said leaving with his two redheads.

" Is he the guy Julie told us about." Saya said after walking a sufficient distance away.

"Yeah I think so." Fredrick replied

"I can't believe they let a rat become an explorer." Maya said disgust written all over her pretty face.

"Technically anyone is allowed to become an explorer." Fredrick shrugged while walking away. What Alex didn't know was that after his encounter with Julie last night she spread the news that a outskirt rat has joined the Explorers Guild. Although many people didn't care there were a few people that would harass Alex for it and that was what she hoped for.

While they were talking Alex had secretly used [Analysis] on the three of them in fact he used it on almost everyone in the room for one simple reason....he didn't trust any of them. Growing up in the outskirts have thought him a lot and one of the lessons learnt is never trust anyone unless you can be absolutely sure they won't turn on you. And Alex knew for a fact he couldn't trust anyone in the guild. After using [Analysis] on most of the people in the cafeteria he found out something very important. There weren't alot of people in the guild over level 10 which shocked Alex a lot. The only people over level 10 was Fredrick's group and two others while everyone else was between level 7 and 9 which puzzled Alex. It had taken him around a week, of constant fighting, pain and torment, to reach his level and yet these guys have been fighting for years have not even reached level 10.

Deciding not to dwell on the matters of other people Alex finished his breakfast and went back to his room since he still had some research to do. Going onto the internet he searched for something that has been bothering him for a while.....<What is a Mana Pool>.
