And The Time Came...

9 PM

That lady stood in front of me with a blank expression. I and Oliver glanced at each other for a second and turned to her when she spoke

"Sir has called you both to his cabin. Please follow me."

Simultaneously, we both let out a breath. But this relief lasted only for a few moments for me. As soon as I got up, my mind went wild. I don't know why but I kept imagining what would happen if we both met. My heart was in a turmoil. I was feeling the anxiousness which I had never faced in the past few years.

We entered the lift one after the another. When looked around I found that his cabin was located on the topmost floor. This tensed me even more as I didn't know how should I pass time with this nervousness.

With all these thoughts that kept making me uneasy, we reached the last floor. As the door opened, I saw a huge portrait of someone. When we stepped closer, I recognized that man. He was Raizel Brown. The founder and the ex-CEO of the company. I had heard the news of his death some months before.

When we proceeded, I could not see any walls. I could only see the outside world through those huge glass panes. There was not much chaos here unlike the other floors. It was a calm place. I could feel the work vibes here. It was an excellent environment. One thing I noticed was that this floor was designed extremely different from the hall. The floor had a creamy peach colour. There were some frames hanging on the dull bluish gray walls which had quotes that can appease any workaholic.

Starting from the lift till the cabin we were walking in a round way. It was like the lift was at one end of a semicircle and the cabin on the other.

When I saw the cabin, it was enormous. It was made from a one-way mirror. We couldn't see what or who was inside but the person sitting inside would be aware of who is going to enter in it.

And the time finally came… I and Oliver stood outside while the lady went inside before knocking. After a few seconds, she came outside and signed us to go in.

Oliver understood my state. And so he opened the door and went in first. I followed him or rather I was hiding behind him. I had my head bowed down. But I could see that Oliver was now moving to stand by my side. At that very moment, I put on my mask of being confident and cold. In these years, those grievances did teach me some things.

So as I took in a deep breath, I resolved not to let myself loose in front of him. Steadily I held my head higher. And what I saw was the back of the swivel chair. I couldn't see Parth.

I looked at Oliver who was ready to call Parth. At that moment I felt he was my saviour. How could he not be one? As the guilt inside me was growing, my confidence for even uttering a word was lost.

"Mr.Parth."

As Oliver called out, the swivel chair turned. And at last my eyes saw the man, the one whom they never saw in a decade. My eyes felt blessed to have him in front of them. Though I kept hiding, the longing for his feel never went away.

He was dressed in a dull dark blue coat and a white shirt within. In a glance, I could figure out that he has maintained his shape. He had his hands rested on the armrests.

When stopped leaning on the chair and sat straight, he had his chest out and raised chin, accentuating his assertive posture. His green eyes with flecks of gold focused on me. Like I had the look of a cold lady, he too had the same vibe.

He was getting up but...…

He was about to fall down. Seeing that , I involuntarily took a step forward and was about to call his name. But Oliver held my hand. I looked back at him with narrowed eyes. But he too had the same look. When I turned to see if Parth was okay, he was grabbing a cane.

This vision shocked me. I had never seen him with a cane. When I had a slight frown of doubt on my face, I remembered that night. The night that should have never come in our life. The night of the accident, the night of tribulation and the night of separation.

I couldn't help but see him struggle to walk towards the window. I stepped back while Oliver released my hand. One thing that struck my mind was why he was alone in this cabin? For a meeting as such, we do need other higher authorities.

I felt like he was loathing my presence. Other than the instance where he looked at me while sitting, he had never glanced at me again.

The turmoil in me spread more and more until he finally spoke up.
