Not a dress! [1]

"Please young miss, get down! If you fall from there, you'll die!" A maid pleaded.

If not for the child's father who had instructed that no servant of the mansion may touch his child if they were not bathing her or dressing her up then, she would have yanked the child off the balcony in an instant!

A girl who looked no older than the age of seven stood at the edge of a balcony, dressed in nothing but a petticoat. Her wet, black hair that reach just below her waist danced beautifully in the warm afternoon breeze that graced the land of Sundrania.

She stood on one leg, hopping around as she watched the maid's fearful reaction in delight. "I will not get down from here until you promise that I will not be wearing that...that... abomination!" The little girl said as she brought out her tongue in disgust, showing her dire distaste for dresses.

"Young Miss, both you and your father will be called unfit by the society even if you walk dressed as a male within the four walls of this mansion. Gossip spreads like wildfire between servants. Like how my sister who works for the lady -"

"The last thing I'm going to do is wear that...thing," the black-haired girl said with a horrified look as she pointed at the white dress that was carefully laid on her bed. "Unless you allow me to dress like my papa then, I might as well jump!"

She turned around and took a huge gulp as fear suddenly engulfed her whole! She didn't want to die just yet. All she wanted was to dress like her father. A man whom she loved dearly buy, society would never allow such a thing. Her plan was not to commit suicide but to push her maid to the point where she would have no choice but allow her to wear what she wanted.

Such drastic measures for such a petty issue...

"I'm going to count to three now. When I get to three and you don't let me do as I please then..then... I'll jump! I'm counting now...One!"

"Young Miss please think of your father"

"Two!"

A bulky man barged right into the room, dressed in a white shirt that had a few buttons undone, revealing his well-toned chest. He also had a pair of black pants and black boots on. His lustrous blonde hair was packed into a tight, neat ponytail with his cat-like green eyes widened in horror because of the scene set before him.

"MORRIGAN!" he yelled

Immediately the daring little girl heard a familiar man's husky voice, she felt goosebumps rise all over her body and the breeze suddenly turned ice cold.

Morrigan knew she had gotten into more trouble than she could bargain for. She turned around, careful not to trip, and looked at her father's horrified face.

"Good morning papa!" she greeted him with a broad smile full of innocence.

The maid bowed and greeted as the man walked towards his daughter, completely ignoring whatever the maid said. "Get down from there this instant!" he said to his daughter in a firm voice.

Morrigan's eyes widened and soon after, she began to cry. Never in her life had her father talked to her so firmly. He was always so sweet and kind and loving with her that she would never, even in her wildest dreams think that a day would come where he would speak to her like so. The change in attitude was a little bit too drastic and sudden for her.

Seeing his daughter's reaction, the man softened his expression to a great extent. Realizing what he had just done, he tried to reach out to Morrigan but, the furious little girl avoided her father's touch swiftly.

"No! Do not touch me! I will not get down, no matter what you say!" she replied in the same tone her father used to speak to her in the initial.

"What is the problem my dear?" her father said, trying his best to caress her with his speech.

"Good!" she exclaimed while standing at akimbo, crossing her arms over her chest. "Janet won't let me wear what I want!"

Morrigan's father looked at the maid whose name was Janet, ready to give an earful but, she was quick to read the air around the room and quickly bowed.

"My grace, the young miss here wanted to dress..." the maid tried to think of the best way to break the news to her father "...like you, my grace"

Janet could immediately feel the rush of blood into her cheeks. Hopefully, her grace wouldn't notice her reddened cheeks.
