Till this day, I still wonder why the world has always seemed to hate me. I have lived my life just like any other.

I was born to a middle class family, went to a moderate school and clearly wasn't exceptional in any way. After school, I got my dead-end job and since then everything has been going downhill.

However, by downhill I don't mean that my life spiralled out of control or anything. No, I was very much in control but I remained in the same spot for thirty years.

My mates got married, had kids, bought cars meanwhile I couldn't do any of those without sending myself into unpayable debt.

However I don't have to worry about that anymore, I'm dead. The dead truly have no worries, that I can attest to.

It was peaceful, that much I can say however, I was currently in a line. A line to the afterlife if my guess is correct.

[Are you sure that death is what you truly want?] a new voice suddenly asked

"Of course not, who actually wants death, I want power and fucking wea… who's there?" I asked Realising the odd thing here.

No one in this line had said a word to each other in a long time and also that voice didn't come from behind me or in front of me.

Besides I was also talking within my mind, how could anyone have heard that?.

[Kid, there are powers beyond you, reading your thoughts is considered the basic amongst such ones] the voice spoke again

"Are you God? Or am I imagining this?"

[Why did you assume I was God, I could also be the devil for all you know]

"I didn't think the devil would have here"

[I see but no, I am neither God nor the devil, I simply exist but I do have proposition that I believe you would agree to]

"Holy shit!, it's happening… I'm getting reincarnated aren't I?" I screamed

The good part of working a dead end job for so long is that you learn to adapt and when you do, you get to make more free time than you are normally given.

Of course that may involve some underhanded tricks but it is what it is.

During such times, there are many things I have spent my time on and that included but were not limited to Anime, novels, movies, Manga… In general, anything with the fantasy tag on it.

I joined communities online which I spent a lot of time within to pass time, then the Isekai genre was born and it became the talk of everyone.

I just like the millions of people on Earth who were introduced to this genre, had imagined this scenario many times in the past.

[Not with that attitude] the voice said.

"Then do I get any abilities? Also where am I being reincarnated to?... Wait, why did you even choose me?" I asked excitedly

[You still have no idea what my proposition is and yet you act as though you have accepted, do you think a being like me would select you for a specific reason?]

"That makes sense" I thought as I tried my best to calm down.

I don't know if it's humanity's urge to feel special that made me ask such a stupid question and it was right, I still had no idea what its proposition would be.
