Edwin Ashborn - The Deviner

"Edwin, love, stay here and don't move. Mommy and Daddy are going to deal with the bad guys and come and get you". I could see my mother from inside the closet, she looked scared and looked like she didn't want to leave my side. "Mom, I am not going to go, I am going to stay inside here. You should help daddy". I assured her I am going to be fine and pleaded to her to stay safe and bring dad with her.

It has been some time mom left, the sound of explosions, screams are resounding throughout the house. I felt worried and scared, all I could do is pray and hope that my parents are safe. I suddenly hear my mom on the stairs running into the room. She took me out of the closet and held me in her arms. All the worries and fear I had seem to wash away from the warmth she was radiating. She looked tired and was panting. She must have overused her magic, I thought to myself. She had fear in her eyes, which led me to believe that we are at a disadvantage and we won't be able to hold off for long.

My father came shortly after, he had blood all over his clothes hair disheveled. His blue eyes looked at both of us with love and care. It also had a hint of sadness as he might have understood, it won't end well for us. "The order is taking too much time we won't be able to hold off for long. Most of the house elves and servants are dead. You must leave with Edwin, run through the forest, and ask for help". "I am not going to leave you alone to fight, Edward", said my mother in an authoritative tone. "I can't let you stay with me, you need to leave, for Edwin's sake". "You're asking me the impossible, I won't be able to live with myself if I leave you. Don't you get it I love both you and Edwin, I need both of you in my life", said my mother with tears streaming down her face. "We will run away together Edward, you don't have to stay here. That way you can protect the both of us. Please just come with me," said my mother with pleading eyes. "I can't love, I have to hold them until you guys get to safety". Suddenly an explosion occurred near us and blew away half the room. We were all blown away by the explosion. My father quickly got into his senses and checked upon us. My head was bleeding and I had gotten a bad injury to my leg. My mother was in no good condition either, she was bleeding from all over her body. I couldn't stop my tears thinking that the worst might have happened. Father carried Mother's unconscious body and me to an empty room and performed some healing spells o her. I calmed down a little seeing that her bleeding had stopped.

"Are we going to get out of this alive?" I asked my father. He was shocked to hear such a question. "Yes champ, why do you ask such a question. Dad will keep both you and mommy safe. So don't worry and look after your mother for me, okay?". I nodded my head as I saw my father pick up his wand and leave the room.

I was right beside my mom holding her hands unable to hold back my tears. "what's wrong sweetheart, don't cry. See I am fine and healthy, I am not even feeling pain anymore. I looked at her and embraced her letting out all the pent-up fear that I had been carrying, "mom sniff...mom...I am so glad that you are okay". "Shh, it's alright, I am fine. Don't be scared I am with you" she said while wiping my tears. I suddenly couldn't move my body and flashes of image started to play in front of me like a movie. There were sounds of people getting closer to our room. The sound was getting closer and closer until suddenly I see two men in black clothes break into the room with a spell. My mother quickly got in front of me to protect me. The two-man were talking to each other about something, for some reason, I couldn't hear them. My mother suddenly pulled her wand and started to cast spells. The weirdest thing was I still couldn't hear any sounds. Pushing the thought away in the back of my mind as aftershock trauma, I hid behind my mom.

They were casting spells non-stop and we were at a disadvantage in numbers. I hated myself for being so weak not being able to help my mom. Suddenly a spell came directed towards me and I could see my mom taking the spell instead of me. I could see my mother's limp body fall on the ground. As tears started to gush out of my eyes I ran towards my mom, holding her dead body, I just couldn't hold back my tears, all the pain, fear, anger started to come out of me. I could see the man com towards me and cast a spell. I closed my eyes thinking it was the end until I heard my mom say "Edwin are you alright, what happened to you ?".

I was shocked beyond words at this development, I just didn't know what happened. "I am alright, mom" I assured my mom and told her not to be worried. As I started to think about what just happened I heard people get close to our room. The sound was getting closer and closer until suddenly I see two men in black clothes break into the room with a spell. My mother quickly got in front of me to protect me. I was just standing there dumbfounded at what had just transpired. (Did I just see the future) As I was thinking about what happened my thoughts were proven when they started to talk to each other, and I could finally hear them.

"We are going to enjoy killing you as we did while killing that pathetic man, he was useless didn't even prove a challenge". My mother was far past the point of controlling herself. She started casting spells at them. As I already know what was about to happen I quicky started to think about a plan to stop my mother from being killed. I hid behind the couch under the smoke of the explosion, I waited for an opportunity to distract them so that mother could finish them off.

After sometime I saw an opportunity and lunged at one of the man. They were startled as they were not expecting me. Mother took the opportunity and casted a blasting curse on their bodies, turning them into a fleshy mess. I ran over to mom to check if she was okay. Thankfully she was alright and got off with only minor injuries. "Why did you do that Edwin, that was dangerous you could have gotten hurt or worse...." she couldn't even finish the sentence as she started to cry embracing me as tightly as she could. I reassured mom that I was alright. She quicky fixed herself and took me down the hallway to back the exit.

As we got out of our mansion that led to the forest we saw our house burning with bright flame being burned to ashes.
