Lin Mei always dreamt of a happy family, a happy life. But life always showed her it's cruel side. She was always told that she was fat, ugly and that she was not worth anything. Her father died while she was in middle school and her mother always compared her to her elder sisters and made her do all the household work. Even her sisters looked down on her and would always make fun of her. She always felt uncomfortable, inferior and insecure around them. However her younger brother was nice to her and was the only friend she had. After being cheated on by her boyfriend and finding out the toughest truth about her existence, Lin Mei decides to leave the house. Although she always aspired to be someone independent, strong and kind, life had never been kind enough to her. After leaving the house and abandoning her toxic family and boyfriend, she saves a kid who resembles her brother from getting hit by a car in the streets and gets hit by it instead. Lin Mei finds herself lying in a hospital bed all by herself. She starts to panic and she pulls herself out of the bed and tries to run away. But then she watches herself in the mirror and gets shocked. "Who is this?!" She screams out loud. She realizes that the reflection in the mirror was of none but herself. She falls unconscious.
