A tour around the dorms

"T-That can't be! Nobody was able to defeat me so far in chess!" Masahiro shouted.

"So? Is there anything special about you just because you didn't find anyone that was able to defeat you until now?" I asked with my gaze set at his surprised expression.

"Y-You! Don't act like you're any better than me!" He said again without refraining from that rude tone of his.

"You know, I simply asked you a question. What I am trying to tell you is that always believing that you are the bigger dog will bring you down sooner or later." I replied Masahiro in a calm voice.

"Did I even ask for your advice?" Masahiro asked stubbornly.

"I guess not. But, let me give you one last piece of advice before letting you drown in your misery which you brought upon yourself because of your own ego." I added getting up from the chair I was sitting on.

"And what is that piece of advice you want to tell me?" He asked in a tone that gave the impression he wanted to spit on the ground.

Getting up from the chair I put my hands in the comfortable pockets of my pants and looked him in the eyes, I leaned close to his face.

"Do not ever assume you're the best just because you didn't meet someone better than you at your own craft, be humble and always work hard. Your ego could either make you drown in embarrassment and misery or dig your own grave, beware of your attitude towards life, it's not just a simple boards game such as chess. Now I have to leave, farewell." I said looking him in the eyes the entire time.

"I-Is that a threat?" Masahiro said nervously.

"Why would I waste my time threatening or hating people? I am not such a pathetic person." I said turning my back at him and going towards the faculty room of the new academy I was supposed to study at from now on.

While I was walking to the faculty room I was drowning in disgust and disappointment. People who waste their true potential just because they think they are the best already make pity them, it is such a big let-down from someone who is capable of doing more.

"Huh, well, I guess not all thrive for the best..." I mumbled looking at the blue sky.

People who have a lot of talent are the same as a sky full of clouds which could start the rain at any minute and give life to the surface but it doesn't start pouring its resources into the ground to make it better just because they think the ground has enough water already, or maybe it is only me who thinks that way.

I opened the door of the main building since the faculty room was in the main building and walked straight to the door where a sign that had written on "Faculty room" was placed and entered it.

Entering the room I saw Kenji talking to one of the teachers and it looked like the topic that they were talking about was pretty serious.

"Understood, can I help with anything else?" Said Kenji and then looked at me which just opened the door.

"Fudo, it's nice to see you again! What business do you have here?" Shouted Kenji waving his hand at me since there was some distance between the two of us.

"Huh? I just came here to know where my dorm room is." I replied touching my neck.

"Ohh, that makes sense!" Kenji said and turned his face towards the teacher he was talking to.

"Can you tell us the place he is supposed to stay? I'll guide him if necessary since he is an interesting guy." Asked Kenji like a little kid who asks his parents if he can go play with other kids his age.

"Sure. By the way..." The teacher said looking at me.

"I hope you will enjoy being here, it's already impressing that Kenji would offer to show someone the academy since he doesn't speak to people so often, haha!" The teacher mentioned.

"Is that so..?" I asked confused.

"Fudo, please don't mind him!" Kenji added embarrassed.

"Huh..? Ok, I guess..?" I said in an even more confused manner.

"His dorm room's number is 18." The teacher told Kenji.

"Ok, I'll make sure he finds it." Kenji replied.

My new acquaintance started pushing me out of the room, perhaps he was too embarrassed and afraid the teacher will tease him more in front of me.

"Haha! I am sorry for my brother!" He exclaimed once we got out of the faculty room.

"He's your brother?" I asked surprised by what he just told me.

"Yeah, he is my big brother and he recently began teaching at this academy." Kenji said sighing.

"I see." I said enlightened.

"Yeah, well he can be pretty nerve-wracking at times since he always teases me, he always does that!" Kenji added.

We started walking and soon enough got out of the main building. Once we stepped out of the main building I was seeing one of the most astonishing sunsets I ever witnessed with my own eyes.

"It's pretty nice huh?" The person who was showing me the way to my dorm room asked.

"Indeed, it gives off a very calm feeling." I replied gazing at the sunsets.

I and Kenji continued walking around the place and I continued following him.

"This is the building." He said pointing at a building.

"Ok, let's find my room now." I said staring at it."

In a few minutes, we arrived at my room and I entered it and immediately spotted a new face.

It was a boy who seemed to be in his first year at the academy as well, he had black hair and blue eyes and was around the same height as me.

"Are you my roommate?" Asked the new person I just met.

"Yes, nice to meet you." I answered in a lively tone and shook hands with him.
