Chapter 21: Facing Devlin

Celeste POV

I remember Devlin, he is beautiful. I stand up and slowly back away from him. Even though he looks handsome, looks can be deceiving, something I learned on my birthday.

“Hi Devlin, it’s a coincidence to meet you again. I would like to stay in chat but I better get going.” I turn to leave but he grabs a hold of my arm

“Celeste, do you think you could join me for some tea?” I look over my shoulder and see him looking at me with those pleading blue eyes, but something inside of me is telling me to run.

“Sorry Devlin, I have my friends waiting for me.” I point over to where Oliver and Matthew were standing. But I can’t see them, I glance all over the cemetery, I don’t see them anywhere.

I notice that I don’t hear any birds or I don’t feel the breeze anymore. The air feels very still, a bit too silent. I turn back to Devlin.

“What did you do?” He grins at me.
