Daime's Arrival [2]

"Here we are."

Primo pulled over to a cramped up apartment with a flower garden and a mini guard house. It looks like an old apartment and the owner had a hard time maintaining its beauty.

It looks very abandoned.

If Grandmama sees this, she would probably cry and sue the management of the apartment. I didn't know Primo would live into such an apartment. The place is not located at the outskirts of town but it looks like it belonged to that location.

I sigh as I pull the trolley out of the trunk while Primo parks the car at the apartment's small parking lot. I can't believe that Primo is living to a cramped up place like this.

Knowing that he had been living in luxury whenever he is with Grandmama, I didn't know he would survive in a place like this. I sigh to myself while carrying the trolley filled with my clothes and the backpacks while Primo guides me to his apartment itself.

The rocky stairs and the rusted metals attached to it give me shivers up to my spine. I don't want to touch it. It looks really dirty and dangerous.

I can see Primo glancing at me from time to time. I can also see him smiling at every reaction I give to the apartment. It made me wonder what kinds of things that Primo had experienced here to be able to show emotions.

I've never seen him show even one emotion back in Switzerland. I never thought he could smile. But seeing it right now makes me happy, knowing that he is more happy that he ever did before.

Maybe escaping from Grandmama could give me the freedom that Primo also have. I want what he has right now. I want to feel free, too.

Primo unlocks his apartment door and welcomes me inside. It was not that spacious but it is perfect if there is only the two of them. There are three rooms available; two bedrooms and one storage room.

If ever one of our cousins would go here, he could have the third room. Primo and I would just remove the boxes in the storage room to make spaces for him.

Primo tours me around the small apartment and gives my task while living here. We study at the same university so transportation is not a problem.

He also said that he has a part time job at a local convenience store so he might be home late every night. I am more than amazed at this point. I never thought Primo could live such a life here.

Maybe living a simple life is much better than living a very luxurious life. It will not give you a much bigger problem like enemies or money problems. Maybe going here in the Philippines would give me the sense of freedom that I am yearning for.

It may also give me the love that I am searching for.

My first night in the apartment is not as bad as I think it will be. The bed feels brand new and there is not much of a noise outside of the apartment itself.

When I first came here, the place is crowded with people and other students. So, I thought it will be the same at night. But I was mistaken.

When night time comes, the only noise that I heard was the sound of the crickets, singing along the bushes, whispering in the dark night sky. It was a magnificent sound.

It is my first day in the university where Primo is currently studying as well. Everyone welcomes me with open arms and even ask me if I know how to speak the Filipino language.

I did tell them that I am still studying the language and they cheer me up for it. Everyone is friendly but some have this thing that they call "crab mentality".

Especially when they find out that I came from a rich family or I have connections from a rich family. They even became jealous of me when they find out I am close with Primo.

Who happens to be the most popular man on campus. I even joke about it and he almost cut my head off. I should've not let my guard off of him even though he seems more friendly than ever.

Days had passed and weeks had passed too, it has been months since my first day here and I couldn't ask for more. I love living in the Philippines. I have fewer problems here compared to when I am living in Switzerland.

Primo told me it is because Grandmama is not here so I can be free. He is not as strict as Grandmama but he is stricter than my father when it comes to friends and money.

He even invited me to join a fraternity which I declined many times but after meeting a certain someone with a cute face but a feisty attitude, I eventually joined since I need all the resources I could get to find him.

But after I joined his fraternity, something had happened when one of them mistakenly called Primo, Aries.

Aries is one of our dead cousins. He died after getting involved in a car accident not too long after Primo left Switzerland. He was driving under the influence, hence, creating a huge catastrophe in the family.

We mourned for his death for almost a week before Grandmama asked him to be buried near his father's tomb. Aries was just 24 years old when he died. His death is still as fresh as a handpicked fruit from a farm.

Primo got mad to that certain member and asked the head of the organization for him to be punished. But the head had asked me to be the one conducting the public punishment.

I look at Primo who is only raising his eyebrow on me. I sigh and accept my very first mission, who I thought would be a piece of cake. Here I am now, waiting for the right time to conduct the punishment.

Primo is with me and he is looking at me from up and down. I stare back at him while twirling a dagger on my hand. He helps me with which punishment should I do to the member, who pissed Primo off.

Minutes later, every member of the fraternity house is here, witnessing my very first mission. Primo said good luck to me before walking towards the direction of the head of the organization, which is looking mad at the frat member.

It turns out that the frat member is his most loyal secretary. Punishing him is the hardest thing he ever decided on. But to deliver fairness through the members, he needs to be seen as a fair leader as well.

It is like setting up as a good example to his members. The head told me to get into my position and ready my weapon. I get into position and throw the dagger straight to his…
