Sinopse

"I can't be your meal..." Jacquelyn pleaded, trying to reason with the man who was supposedly her husband. His grin widened, curling into a mischievous smile, revealing his razor-sharp fangs. "And why is that?" he asked. Jacquelyn knew she had to use her brain with this one. "I am your wife... you can't eat me," she said, hoping to appeal to whatever humanity was left in him. "Makes it even better," was his cold response. Jacquelyn's legs trembled; she couldn't think of any culture or tradition where it was acceptable for a husband to eat his own wife. "And...." "And?" The best way to keep a prisoner from escaping is to make sure he never knows he's in prison -Fyodor Dostoevsky

Jacquelyn Avignon, the last unmarried princess of the Royal House of Stormont, had been traded like a pawn in a political game. Her kingdom's protection came at a steep price; marriage to a creature known only as the Ruler of the Night.

Kael Valois, the Vampire King, had claimed a human bride for every generation of kings. Yet, his dark soul remained cold and empty.

. . . . . . .

"I-is that blood?" The princess's voice trembled as she pointed a shaky finger.

The tall figure lounging on the bed lazily wiped the liquid from the corner of his lips, his piercing gold eyes locking onto hers with an unnerving intensity.

"What else would my kind crave?" he replied, his voice low and husky. The princess raised a hand, as if to slow his explanation, but her head spun with a dizzying sense of dread.

"It's low quality, though," he continued, his gaze never leaving hers. "I find it almost...condescending, that I'm being served the blood of the lowest human. But since they're your kind, you might want to taste it. The human is still alive...for now."

As he dragged the limp body forward, the young girl felt a bitter wave rise in her stomach. She clutched her chest, her eyes fixed on the lifeless form. "Oh, dear heavens," she whispered, before her vision darkened and she crumpled to the floor.

The Twilight Lord watched her fall with a raised eyebrow, a hint of sarcasm in his voice. "Who brings a fainting deer to a drinking soiree?"

I was the love child of the Eclipse Alpha King, in a time where the mate bond was considered sacred, a child born out of wedlock was nothing short of sacrilegious... 'It was his fault, he loved someone other than his mate...' 'It was his fault, he had carnal knowledge of a human woman.' 'It was all his fault, my only crime was being born out of his lust.' But why was that Alpha King father of mine perfectly safe, while I was hated, scorned and blamed for everything instead? Why did I have to be my father's bargaining chip, used to achieve his goals? Why could I not get a rejection like everyone else but was instead murdered by my own mate? Why was I killed before I even had a chance to live? I had a thousand questions and yet there was no one to answer and this was exactly how I died... So why then did my eyes flutter open to that day, a month before my death? Was it because of my little secret? A secret I will tell no one else but you... From the title of my tale, you must think I am an omega wolf... No, you got it wrong... Betrayed by Blood, Claimed by the Alpha

“P-please let me go..” I stammered and before I knew it, I was word vomiting while crying. “—I won’t return. You won’t ever see me again. I know you don’t want me as a mate. You hate me, so please let me go.” I cried out. Cain’s jaw tightened with each word that left my lips “What gave you the idea that you have the power to choose what you want?” His voice was low, “You don’t get to decide what, how, and when you leave. Only I get to do that. You don’t get to leave me, you don’t get to run! You only leave when I want you to.” "I didn’t ask for this,” I whispered, trembling. “I didn’t ask to be your mate.” Cain stepped back, “Neither did I,” he muttered under his breath. “But the bond doesn’t give us a choice, does it?” ~~~~ As the only child of her late Alpha father, Avery Jae was meant to inherit her family’s legacy. But on the day of her arranged marriage to Alpha Lucian, her world crumbles. Rejected, humiliated, and cast aside for her own cousin, Avery barely escapes with her life only to find out a much deeper secret. One that changes everything. With over 300 chapters in, I'm here to give a detailed author's review. Being my first fantasy novel ever, I had my moments of awe and ugh!. . I had my weak-to-the-bone moments, crying, butterflies, rage, chaotic moments while writing this book, and it was worth it. "Cursed Bride of the Damned Vampire King" is a book set in an era when vampires reigned and humans bowed. In general, the book is fast-paced, and the female lead isn't a doormat. Actually, she's a walking disaster, and most times I can't defend her lol, . She didn't beat the auburn-hair-crazy allegations. And for the male lead, Kael Valois - to be honest, I bowed at his supremacy so many times. He is the epitome of reliability. The most reliable male lead character I've created, since Cortez from Kitanna. The side characters are not to be overlooked either; they had their roles, and they ate it all up. Initially, I had wanted to write this book using the normal vampire lore for every book, but as I continued, I realized each world, each character had its unique voice, and I couldn't ignore it. This book triggers all the feels - anger, depression, love, abandonment issues, growth, and most importantly, having family with unexpected people. I have so many scrapped chapters on my desk, which I had intended to use in writing this book, and also how it should end. I took the quote of Stephen King too seriously: "A story should entertain the writer too." I am beyond mesmerized, especially when I had the whimsical moment of a book writing itself. Ps: It exists. You'll find the earth arc of this book relatable, but even more relatable is the Pilgrimage in hell, which is the second arc. Scared at first to write demon related lore and hell, but so far it's definitely worth it. Though disheartened that people are sleeping on this book, but... it is what it is. Grab this book right now, read past 50 chapters before you drop, and you'll find yourself obsessed, like me. As of this moment, I have written the end of this book, but something tells me it's not over until it's over. So, if you need a vampire story with a possessive female lead and a witty male lead with a vivid personality, demons and devils, love-hate relationships, law of Contrapasso, witches, then you're in for a wild ride.
