Why? Why in the world! Wasn't he a misogynist? Why was he asking a woman to accompany him then? Under this cloak, her clothes were stained with blood, not only of hers but of also of Alan.
She was shocked to find a maid of her palace there. But she assured me that she would take the blame. Now Olivia needs to go and save her before she gets the punishment for things she had never done. But if she tried to run away, Alex would be doubtful after finding a dead body in the inn.
"That.. I did not want to worry you. I will go on my own." She tried her best to sound calm and shy when Alex sighed.
"My lady, I can understand your worries since you do not know me. I know it is difficult to trust a stranger. But these is a murder happened nearby and the killer was not yet caught. That is why I am worried about you. I will escort you to the inn and then go for my investigation.`` Alex could not understand why the woman was so wary of her.
Isn't it opposed most of the time? Those women swarm on him as if he was a thing of their enjoyment. He hated all the attention they gave him. The way they looked at him, it made him feel nauseated. So, he was surprised that there existed a woman who did not like his presence and wanted him to leave her alone.
But he was sure that the killer would be around her. His next aim would be the man staying in the inn.
"Would you please hurry, I have urgent work in the inn." then go and do that? Why are you standing here and chatting with me? Olivia wanted to shout! He was her mortal enemy from past life as he continued to cross her path no matter what she was doing.
Though she was cursing him in her heart. She nodded meekly and walked towards the horse he had pointed at.
She raised her feet in the air but stopped. There was no way a commoner painter knew how to ride a horse. Horses are expensive and only nobles had them. Commoners mostly travel by feet or hire common carriages if they are rich enough.
"I.. I don't know how to.." she stopped as she lowered her head when Alex blinked.
"Of course, you don't!" What was he even thinking? He shook his head and cursed himself for giving her the offer. He wished Ethan was here to take the lady with him. Now he was going to suffer the allergy because he needed to share the horse with her.
"Let me help you then." he held her waist and pulled her on the horse when she held her horse with clumsy actions and sat on it somehow. She was looking a bit panicked when he sat behind her.
"You will irk the horse, my lady. You need to calm down. I will make sure that you do not fall off!" I am thinking of throwing you off the horse you fool. But I am glad that you could not see through my act.
She nodded her head shyly while cursing him again in her heart. But thank goodness that he did not waste his time further. He pulled the reins and the horse galloped faster towards the inn.
The only problem was, for holding the reins, he was holding her waist that was in between. His constant touch of her waist was making him agitated. He felt a strange feeling and a desire to scratch his hands that were holding her.
He was not able to concentrate on the road at all. But he was glad that his horse was trained enough to follow the path.
The uncomfortable and troublesome journey was irritating him.
"What is your name, my lady?" he asked just to distract himself when he felt her flinch again surprising him.
"O.. oozie!" damn! She was bad at naming! She closed her eyes as she was sure that he would realize she was lying.
"That.. is an interesting name i say!" The voice came a bit awkward, making her raise a brow and then chuckle. Was the man awkward in front of girls? Is that why he kept his distance from them?
If that was the case then he would never know who she was since he was going to fidget all this time. The thought comforted him and she sat on the horse with more at ease.
"I am a painter. I am here to find a good place where I can stay. Do you know any art club sir knights?" she asked in a shy but seductive voice that the man flinched, then tried to create his distance but it was impossible due to the small space.
She gloated in her heat. Just how could a man be this innocent? It felt like she had found a hidden treasure.
"I have no idea my lady. But we arrived at the inn you were searching for.'' He stopped the horse and jumped off it as if he was trying to run away.
He took a few steps away when he heard her coughing.
"Umm, sir knight. Sorry to trouble you again but I did not know how to jump. I am a bit scared. So will you help me again?" she asked in a soft voice when he sighed but nodded his head and helped her in coming off the horse.
How soft her hands were! He mused when he held them but an electrifying feeling filled him when he touched them.
"Thank you.'' She bowed her head as she turned to walk in the inn while he continued to stand there for a second before walking in but his eyes narrowed and cold returned to them when he heard a few whispering about finding a dead body in one of the rooms half an hour ago!
"He missed the killer again!"
