“Amazing,” Liam said, shaking his head. “He just stands there and lets you do anything you want to him.”
Barry patted Shadow’s neck. “Yeah, you’re a good boy, aren’t you?”
“And you’ve only been doing this for a couple weeks.”
“Jake and Jimmy are good teachers.” Barry hoped they’d still give him lessons after…their relationship changed.
He looked around for his riding helmet then remembered it was in the house. Not wanting to risk running into Jimmy or Jake, he decided the hell with it and went back into the tack room to fetch the straw cowboy hat he’d bought the previous week.
Liam saddled up his own horse and the two left the barn together but headed in different directions. Barry was grateful. He needed to be alone, save for Shadow and Rex, who stuck close. 10
Walking across the yard after brushing Shadow and putting his tack away, Barry felt a sense of determination.
