Aiden sat on the edge of the hospital bed, wincing as Amelia checked his arm. Her fingers pressed a little too hard on his wound, and a soft groan escaped his lips.
"I heard you got hurt," Amelia said, her eyes scanning his arm. When her hand pressed down a little too forcefully, Aiden hissed in pain.
"I'm fine," Aiden replied, trying to play it off. "I'm more worried about you." He hesitated for a moment before continuing. "Maia—uh, Dr. Lim—" He paused, unsure of how to address her. In the hospital, it felt right to call her Dr. Lim, but considering what he was about to discuss, Maia felt more appropriate. "Did she… slap you?" Aiden asked, leaning forward slightly to inspect Amelia's cheek.
Amelia gave a small, strained smile. "I don't get it. What the hell is going on?"
Aiden tilted his head, studying her face. "What do you know?"
