I let out a morbid chuckle as I bleed out from the gun shot wounds scattered across my torso. At least my prey wouldn't be getting away...
It was only a matter of time before the cancer killed me, better to die more quickly and get it over with. I know where I'm headed for if the afterlife is real. Better not keep all of my new "friends" waiting for me anyway.
I just wonder how many more "friends" I'll make soon.
My eyes slowly lose focus, as my pain and consciousness fades.
*****
When I regain consciousness I am no longer in the same world. The sky is a dark red, a pentagram etched into it, judging from the building I woke up on, and those around it, I was definitely not in a small town in Missouri anymore.
It also seemed as though I had now grown a tail? I cock my head to the side as I spot the fluffy new appendage. Something on my head twitching at my curiosity, and laying flat down against my head at my surprise after the twitch. So probably ears too. My once long curly brown/blonde hair, was now snowy white to match the fur on my tail, that looked like it was dipped in an icey blue paint at the ends, my once pale skin had grown even more so with a light gray tint to it, and while I didn't know what my eyes looked like yet, I was grateful to finally be able to really see again without glasses. I had been damn near blind without them.
I pick my aching body up from the floor of the rooftop, stretching, and walk the perimeter of the building to get a better Idea of what I'm dealing with.
Sirens sound from various sources around, sounding far more like alarms than an actual police siren. All kinds of creatures are shoving, stabbing, and yelling at each other.
"Intriguing... Seems Hell really did exist. Good... I could use some more fun." I mutter to myself as I walk along the top ledge of the building. It's only one story high, and I'm already dead, so I jump down, bending my knees and rolling from my toes to my heels to absorb the shock of the fall.
Landing right in front of two young ladies, who startle at my arrival. The tall blonde letting out a squeak that has my new ears ringing, and pinned down to my head. The short white haired latina, makes a spear appear from nothing, holding it to my heart.
"Ow, ow, what lungs, damn new ears. Don't point yer damn spear at me, didn't even know ya was here when I jumped, was jus' too lazy to look for another way. One hell of a welcome to Hell. Fuck." I mouth off grabbing my new furry ears in pain, as they lay back against my head, and my accent leaking into my speech, not caring too much about the spear. Not like I could stop her if she wants to stab me anyway, I don't have a weapon.
"Vaggie! Wait." The tall blonde says, the other girl 'Vaggie' pulled the spear back just a little, and the blonde turned back to me a little excited. "You're new to Hell?"
I give them a once over, and they look decent enough to give real (or at least half real) info to, it is Hell after all. "Yeah, I haven't even gotten to look at my own reflection yet. I know my ears are different, and I have a tail, but that's 'bout as far as I got before I jumped down from there." I pointed to the rooftop.
"Charlie, no. She could be dangerous!" Vaggie said to the blonde.
"Oh, I'm normally dangerous. But I have morals, and no weapon at the moment." I mutter back shrugging. "I'm in Hell for a reason after all."
"See Charlie! She even admitted it. And we don't know if she would be a good candidate for redemption."
I raise my eyebrow at that. "You know, you could simply ask what I did to be put here." I swish my tail back and forth, crossing my arms over my chest and cocking my hip to one side. My body language screaming 'sass'.
"What did you do then?" Vaggie seemed like an over protective type.
"I killed a rapist that had taken me back to his house, after he thought he drugged me at the bar. I died of the gun shot wounds he gave me in the struggle." I'm not going to elaborate farther on my 'misdeeds', not yet at least.
The blonde, Charlie, seemed to feel enough sympathy to look as though she was going to cry for me. And Vaggie visibly softened her stance.
"I'm so sorry that happened to you." Charlie swoops in for a hug.
I shiver, and stiffen at the physical contact, my fur standing on end. I hated being touched, especially without warning.
"Charlie, you're forgetting to ask before you hug again. Babe, she looks uncomfortable. Which would be normal after dying that way." Vaggie comes to the rescue, with her reminder, and I'm quickly released.
"Sorry! I'm sorry! I can't quite help myself sometimes." The blonde said, looking apologetic as she backed up.
I shake off the shiver, and memories that come with physical touch. "It's okay, I just don't like being touched, especially without warning." My arms wrapping around myself like a hug, and my fluffed up tail wrapping around my leg in my attempt to comfort myself.
"Oh! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable." Charlie looked sad at my obvious discomfort. Then perks up. "If you don't have a place to live, you can come to the Happy Hotel, we would love to have you. It's a hotel we're opening to help redeem souls."
"I can't be redeemed." I look at Charlie. "I don't want to be. But if you want some extra security, or a cook for the hotel, I'm in."
Charlie looks sad again. "That sounds okay. What makes you think you can't be redeemed though?"
Vaggie looked curious too.
"I'm not a good person Charlie. There's more to me than what I've shared, but I've never harmed anyone that didn't deserve it." My eyes turn sharp at the end, as I turned to look at my reflection in the buildings windows. My eyes looked like the same icey blue as the ends of my long curly hair and tail fur. Whites of my eyes now black, and my pupils now vertical like a cat's eyes. "And Hell seems like it'll be more interesting." My eyes narrow at the reflection as I see someone grabbing a lady and pulling her into an alley across the street. "Now if you'll excuse me, something interesting just caught my eye." I go to quickly cross the street calling out behind me with a wave. "I'll show up at the Happy Hotel when I'm done getting familiar with my new interesting surroundings, until then I bid the farewell."
It was time to hunt...
