SUPRISE

CHAPTER 13… SUPRISE!

It's the weekend and Selena had spent it packing her bags. She would be moving in with Timothy and Bella by noon.

She was still folding her clothes and arranging them in the box when the door opened and Rick came in.

"I see you're still busy," Rick said with a smile.

Selena nodded and took in a deep breath before turning to face Rick. Her nervousness was written all over her face and Rick could see it.

He helped her seat before bending down before her.

"Selena," he called and she nodded, "you don't have to do this if you don't want to."

"I want to," Selena whispered, unsure of her words.

"Then, don't be nervous. Rick's got you little spider,"

Selena smiled and nodded. She stood up and pulled Rick up.

"Come, help me pack up."

Rick gave a mock salute and replied, "Yes, madam."

"I'll miss you, Rick," Selena said, engulfing Rick in a bear hug as Timothy's driver loaded her luggages into the trunk of the black SUV.

Rick chuckled and pulled out of his sister's grip. He ruffled her black hair and kissed it lightly.

"I'm gonna miss you more, little spider." He said with a smile. "Be careful,"

"I will," Selena promised and got into the backseat of the car.

Rick stood in front of the house and waved until the car was out of sight. He turned around and faced the house with a sigh.

"It's just me and you now, huh," he mumbled and shook his head before walking inside.

The drive to the Lancaster mansion was smooth. Drew maintained a very average speed, giving Selena the joy of watching the passing streets.

Selena leaned on the window and stared outside. She could not help feeling nervous but she was not scared.

A loud sigh left her lips and clouded the part where it had touched on the glass window. Selena stared at it until it disappeared and she closed her eyes.

She felt the car stop moving and she opened her eyes, wondering if they had reached already. True, they were within the enclosure of a mansion.

Drew came out and helped her get the door. Selena smiled at him and came out to stand by the car.

She waited until Drew got the bags from the trunk and she grabbed one, even though Drew did not want her to.

They walked down a path in the midst of the gardens on both sides of the house slowly. As they walked, Selena looked at around.

The garden was colourful but the flowers in it looked like they had not been watered for the day. They looked sad.

Selena sighed and looked ahead of her where the main mansion was. Her feet stepped on the first marble steps at the front door and she took in a deep breath and waited for Drew to knock.

Drew opened the door and held it for Selena to pass before he closed it behind her. He quickly got into the front and led her all the way to the elevator where he pressed a few buttons.

Selena let out a deep breath and relaxed. She should not be feeling nervous. It was already too late to turn back now.

Drew noticed the unease oozing from the woman next to him. Although he did not know her, he knew she must be the wife his boss had talked to him about the previous day so he dared not disrespect her.

He could only hope and pray in his heart that she would be different from that lunatic the boss dated.

The elevator dinged and they came out. Selena followed Drew until he stopped at the end of the floor and opened a door.

Drew stepped into the room and held the door for Selena to pass.

"Ma'am-" he called but Selena cut him off.

"Call me Selena, please" she requested.

Drew scratched his neck awkwardly and shook his head.

"I'm sorry, ma'am. But, the boss would skin me alive if I dared to disrespect you." He explained.

Selena chuckled and smiled.

"It's my name, not a form of disrespect and I promise, he won't do anything to you."

Drew did not want to fall into Timothy's black book. Neither did he want to offend the new madam of the house. In confusion, he racked his brain for a possible solution and found one.

"I'll call you ma'am whenever the boss is around," he said.

Selena chuckled and nodded.

"If that makes you feel comfortable."

Drew nodded and took the luggages to the closet and came back to stand before her.

"Ma-" he began but stopped halfway when Selena raised a brow. "Selena, the boss and little miss went to get a few things from the office. You can make yourself comfortable until they return."

Selena nodded and took a quick glance around the room before turning to face Drew.

"Thank you -" she stopped, realizing she did not know his name.

Drew understood and filled in for her. "Andrew."

Selena nodded and continued.

"Thank you, Andrew. You can go ahead,"

Drew nodded and left Selena all to herself to get used to the room.

Once she was alone, Selena took a quick tour around the large bedroom. It had a family sized bed in the middle of the room, a dressing table and mirror at the side. The dressing table and mirror looked like they were new. On one side, there was a door that led to the closet and the bathroom, too.

Selena returned to the bedroom and pulled out her phone from her pocket to call Megan. She had promised to call Megan once she reaches the house.

After a few rings, Megan's ever joyous voice came from the other side of the phone.

"Lena!" Megan screamed.

Selena pulled the phone from her ear and only returned it when Megan's squealing died down.

"Tell me everything" Megan requested immediately.

Selena chuckled.

"Okay, gossipmonger,..."

*****

Timothy and Bella got into the house almost two hours later. Bella was tired and worn out from the time she had spent playing with her grandma.

Timothy led her up the stairs and helped her shower and get dressed in one of her favorite ball gowns.

Bella frowned at the choice of cloth her father had picked even though she loved it. She only wore it on days when her dad was taking her out.

"Daddy, where are we going to?" She asked.

Timothy smiled at her lovingly and helped her style her hair. He had not yet told her of Selena's presence in the house. He wanted it to be a surprise to her.

"It's a surprise," he whispered.

Bella clapped her hands happily and smiled widely. She loved surprises, especially the ones from her dad.

Timothy chuckled and pulled her to her feet when he was done. He slid her feet into her Cinderella shoes that matched her blue ball gown very perfectly and they left the room.

They stopped in front of his bedroom door, where Selena was and he knelt down before Bella.

"Baby, whoever is in there, I want you to ask them if they'll go on a date with you. Okay?"

Bella nodded happily, too eager to see her suprise.

Timothy smiled and stood up and knocked on the door gently before pushing it open. He let Bella go in first and followed behind her.

Bella looked around the room but there was nothing unusual. She turned to face her dad with a sad look on her face.

"Where's the suprise?" She asked.

Timothy just smiled and shoved his hands into his pockets. He nudged ahead of him with his chin.

"There" he said and Bella turned around to face the room.

Her eyes widened and she gasped when she saw Selena standing in the doorway of the closet.

"Miss Scott?" She called in disbelief.

Selena chuckled and waved at Bella. She was dressed in a simple gown and her hair was tied into a loose bun.

Bella turned to face Timothy, a tear rolling down her cheek.

"Daddy…" she trailed off and turned to face Selena.

Selena opened her hands wide, indicating for Bella go throw herself in.

Bella ran into her arms and snuggled into Selena's arms.

Selena smiled and let her ravish in her arms for a while before pulling her off. She wiped Bella's tear strickened face with her palms and placed a kiss on her hair.

"I missed you, Miss Selena"

Selena chuckled.

"I missed you too, Bella."

Timothy stood at the side and watched them in silence. He was happy Bella loved his suprise to her. He was even happier now that he was sure that she would remain with him.

"Miss Scott," Bella called. She turned to look at Timothy who winked at her before turning back to Selena.

"Would you go on a date with me?"

Selena smiled and chuckled softly. She ruffled Bella's hair and kissed her cheek.

"Of course. You look so beautiful already."

Bella smiled and ran to stand beside Timothy. She beckoned him bend and he did. She whispered into his ear before going back to hug Selena one more time and then she dashed out of the room.

Selena stood up and folded her hands behind her. She looked at at Timothy and smiled.

"Hi,"

"Thank you," Timothy said sincerely. "I'm so happy Bella was suprised."

Selena chuckled and waved him off.

"I'm happy to hear that. This date, it's your idea, huh?"
