The Virtual World of 【Only Sense Online】(2)

Rabbits, goblins, and slimes have always been staples as the weakest monsters in most RPG games.

I've always thought of seeing a boss monster having the race of a Slime or Rabbit. Goblins have seen some love because of the 'staple' in h-novels, mangas, and animes so they've definitely seen some use. Am I right?

In this game where it's main catch phrase is the chance to be the [Only One], I wonder if I'll see slimes and rabbits be used as a terrifying Boss Monster.

(Shun's POV)

At eleven o'clock, after I was done checking out the forums and guides, I put on the VR gear and laid down on the bed. Heh, the gear was not that hard to set up like I initially expected.

When I started it up, the hypnotic induction began. The feeling I had, was that of my body falling asleep and my head becoming really clear. After that my field of view spread out, and I appeared in a pure white space.

This space makes me feel a sense of nostalgia. It's been 15 years, or was it sixteen? Since I've left that place.

"Woah, I can't see a speck of any other color in here…"

『"Choose a name."』

While I am looking around and checking out my surroundings, I was prompted by an inorganic sounding female voice. It definitely does not sound human at all.

"Choose a name? Hmm… What do I use as my name?"

I put some thought about my name and decided on using a modified version of my name. No, maybe I should think of something quirky but could describe a portion of the playstyle I'm aiming for.

"Alright, let's go with this one…"

I typed in a name on the semi-transparent keyboard that appeared in front of me. I typed in my own name - [Syunpo Panda] and confirmed it.

After the name selection, the semitransparent screen changed into the character modification tab. In here, I chose to change my hair and add in some strips of silver to match the word on my name [Panda].

"I guess that's it? I don't need any other modification since I'll be wearing a scarf or a mask to slightly cover my face in this game…" This is a VR game after all. I might encounter some incompatibility with my VR avatar if I modify it too much.

After I finished with my modifications, the semitransparent screen switched and a selection of tutorials appeared. Since I obtained information from the guide sites ahead of time, I didn't need it.

"I gotta say, it really is quite the quirky name."

The name I chose sounded like Shunpo Panda so it really does describe the playstyle I want to initially aim for. I want to be a very agile archer in this game. If they get near me, I'll use my speed to get away fast and dodge attacks, if they get some attacks in, I'll just use [Recovery] on me.

If close combat becomes a problem, I'll take either the [Fist], [Kick], [Sword], or some other Sense that would suit my style more. I could go for a jack of all trades build but first, I want to focus on my combat Senses.

While I was thinking about such things, the scenery before me changed abruptly.

—And then, a spectacle appeared before me.

Around me, there was a flood of people. A lot of people seemed to have logged in. And for me who arrived in the VR world for the first time, it was a very strange experience.

"There surely is a lot of people around here. I gotta say, it's a really strange feeling to see people carry cold weapons and such in this modern day and age…"

How to say this… I'm feeling quite pumped after taking in the fantasy-esque vibe this game is giving me.

I tried to jump up and down to get a feel for any changes. My body feels slightly restricted, probably because of my stats being low.

Since I arrived here, I assume Miu and Shizuka-nee will contact me anytime soon. Sure enough, a few seconds later, an icon appeared in on the edge of my field of vision, I quickly looked towards it and selected the audio input.

"Chat open."

『Ah, Onii-chan. Did you connect?』

"Hey Miu. Is Shizuka-nee with you?"

『Yes! Onee-chan is with me. There's too many people here so we can't find each other. Onee-chan and I arrived at the cathedral on the north. We'll wait for you there.』

"Got it. North, right? I'll be heading there now."

I moved from my initial spot immediately. I dont't really hate crowds but, the many stares I'm getting is really quite off-putting, to say the least.

Since this is my first time being in a fantasy-esque setting, I'll ignore them all for now.

(Miu's POV)

After I entered the game of [Only Sense Online], I immediately took in the sight surrounding me.

"I have returned!"

I yelled with an excited voice. The place I have been 'teleported' in was the first town's centre—the intersection of the main streets going from east to west and north to south.

The medieval Europe town surrounded by a huge outer wall in the fantasy world of swords and magic, the houses were mainly built with brick and cobblestone, here and there I could see windows made of glamorous wood and glass.

After going into a single back alley, there was the residential and relaxation area inside of which NPCs have gathered and were speaking with each other.

The players logging in one after another were overwhelmed by this town. Some of them were people who have started moving while looking around the town.

"How tasteless. Oops! I shouldn't say that, I was walking around the town in β like a tourist as well…"

Since it was the β, there was naturally a limited number of players. We have no other choice but to seek information by walking around on our own feet. Due to this experience, I have memorized the entire town's map by heart.

As compared to the β in which I moved around for a little bit, there were some additional elements added. I had a lot of fun looking around for changes!

"Well then, first, acquiring Senses and Shizuka-oneechan. No, since it's a game it should be meeting up with Sei-oneechan."

I opened the menu and acquired the Senses from the window.

In [Only Sense Online's] game system, these Senses were the basis of everything and most important thing.

The players equipped Senses into ten of their frames and were also able to replaced them to fit their own playstyles. For people who want to wield a specific weapon, they need to choose the Senses that enables them to wield those weapons.

In addition to combat system Senses, there were crafting Senses, stat-rising type Senses, auxiliary Senses and various hobby-type Senses. Choosing whatever Senses suits one's liking was all right.

Whether you want to play as a crafter, as a fighting specialist, as a fisherman, a miner, or whatever, everything could be possible. Saying your playstyle was the "only" one, wasn't unfounded.

Back to the Senses I have chosen. The ones I've chosen were these:

The first acquired Senses, were these ten. While conscious of my playstyle during the β version, I took Senses to play efficiently.

Among these Senses I took, I planned to withdraw some. However, it didn't mean I wouldn't use them again. It's just a matter of whether or not I prefer to have them equipped or not.

"First aim, my status from β test! This is the Paladin's return!"

"Myu-chan, you seem to be having fun."

"Ah! Onee-chan!" When I looked around, there stood a gentle-looking woman with light blue hair.

This beauty with a beauty mark under her left eye as her charm point was unmistakably Sei-oneechan's character that I've seen often in the β era. As her sister, I am proud to have such a beautiful Onee-chan!

Without any hesitation I dove in her chest, embracing her.

"Onee-chan! It's been a while!"

"Yes, Myu-chan, it's really been a while."

I enjoyed the softness of Onee-chan's boobs gently wrapping around me.

Boing, boing.

When I pressed my face in, there was a soft rebound. I felt a line of sight and when I looked to the surroundings, other players' had their gazes nailed to Onee-chan's boobs.

"Stop looking at Onee-chan as you like!"

"Myu-chan. What happened all of a sudden?"

Sei-oneechan didn't notice, but several players were admiring her captivating boobs. Surprised by my words they have fled in a hurry.

Sei-oneechan's boobs are mine! I declared in my mind.

"So, where's Shun-chan?"

"I think Onii-chan will come after cleaning up. Onee-chan, did you get your Senses yet?"

"Yes, I received the beginner's equipment as well." With that said, she raised the initial weapon given after choosing a weapon Sense.

Onee-chan has acquired a [Staff] Sense and received a Beginner's Staff. I have a Sword Sense so I received a Beginner's Sword.

"Want to finish shopping together before Onii-chan comes?"

"We can do that. That way, we can carry on smoother when explaining things to Shun-chan. Though… given his characteristics, I don't think he'd need our teachings that much…"

"Eh, that's kinds true. Onii-chan could easily learn new things after a few tries, after all!"

After receiving the consent of Onee-chan, striking the iron while it's hot, I pulled Onee-chan's hand and we started walking through the town.

Right! Did I mention that this city is called Agann?
