Aside from questions about the development of a behemoth, which seemed to pique their interest the most, the duke and Alan also asked several other questions, one of them concerning the demon’s strength. From what Arias was saying, this behemoth was only in the upper demon rank, which made them curious about how it was this powerful. Normally, the two of them would be able to defeat even warlord beasts. This demon was only in the demon rank, so why was it stronger than them?

And so, Arias had to spend a lot of time explaining that while they might look similar, there was a chasm between beasts' and demons’ strength. Even a low-rank demon would be strong enough to kill a high-rank beast, so it was no surprise that an upper-rank demon would be stronger than a knight mage.
