3 First Year Part 1

"Welcome, my fellow Ravenclaws!" said the cheerful diminutive professor Flitwick. "This will be your new home for the next seven years of your stay here at Hogwarts. Our house values are wit, learning, wisdom, acceptance, intelligence and creativity. I expect the best of behaviors from you, and an insatiable hunger for knowledge. Our great founder left us the words: 'Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure.'. Also, in the spirit of house cooperation, if any of you finds difficulty in any of his school subjects, he may feel free to ask the older years or myself for guidance."

The Ravenclaw common room was full of blue and bronze carpets with the eagle sigil. It had two sofas for group discussions, desks with their seats all over the place, and the most important detail: a library!

However, according to the prefect who introduced them, this was not a school library. It was more of a 'student's library'. Anyone can contribute any book he wishes, and the other people who wish to read it can borrow it, as long as they put it back after they're done. That way, students don't have to spend a lot of money on books. Kaiser laughed evilly at the sight of so many books.

Also, one of the perks of being a Ravenclaw is the individual rooms. Though, they were quite simple, containing only a desk and a bed.

Kaiser went to his room and found his trunk waiting for him. He was very tired after a long day. As he laid down on his bed, he took out his wand, and casted the [Lumos] Charm, even while closing his eyes, until he fell asleep.

The next morning, he woke up at 5 AM, though he couldn't tell time because he didn't know of any spell that could do so, or didn't have any such items. Mechanical watches are expensive after all.

He got dressed, and got to work. He started practicing his basic spells: Lumos, Levitation, Mending.

He cast each ten times, before moving to others. He focused on those he would be learning on his first year, while prioritizing those he'd find useful. Like the unlocking [Alohomora] and locking [Colloportus] charm and banishing charm [Depulso].

The first two were easy enough. The latter, however, was more difficult, as it requires an advanced control over magic, which he obviously didn't have yet, so after a few tries, he moved on. He stopped practicing when the first signs of exhaustion began. He took a shower and went down to the still empty common room.

He went directly to the library and took a transfiguration book. He was very fascinated by the subject, because of the infinite possibilities it offers. He had a project in mind, that could potentially make him rich if he succeeds, but for now, he's not ready yet. He first reads the book at a fairly fast pace, to save it in the 'Database'. Then he'd go back to focus on the details, and try to understand the book.

At 7 AM the others started waking up. At 8:15, all the first years met in the common room, to be escorted to the Great Hall for breakfast.

Kaiser sat next to his first-year house mates: Anthony Goldstein, Terry Boot and Michael Corner. Though they didn't share any interest. He was interested in magic more than anything, while they were more interested in Quidditch and games. He still stayed polite to them, and paid some attention to their conversation, contributing from time to time.

Tracey Davis, Padma Patil and Lisa Turpin were talkative, and hit it off rather quickly. While Daphne Greengrass was a bit cold, and only said few words.

Professor Flitwick gave them their time tables. They had Charms and Transfiguration, followed by Magic Theory after lunch, then astronomy in the evening.

-------------------------

The transfiguration classroom was empty. They took their seat, and waited for Professor McGonagall to arrive, while wondering there was a cat sitting on the professor's desk. Kaiser, of course, knew that was not ordinary cat, but Professor McGonagall in her [Animagus] form. She wanted to create a good impression in the first class, to show them what transfiguration is capable of, and to get them more interested in it.

When it was time to start the lesson, the cat jumped and transformed to its original form, surprising the students.

"Good morning, class. You are here to learn one of the most ancient branches of magic, the art of transfiguration. Transfiguration can be very dangerous if done incorrectly, therefore, you are all forbidden to try any transfiguration spells you learn here, or elsewhere. Also, I expect you all to take this class very seriously. If I find out you are playing in my class, you will leave, never to return. You have been warned." Professor McGonagall informed her class with her usual strict face.

She taught them the general security rules of transfiguration. For example, they were absolutely forbidden from transfiguring anything to air, food, or liquid. Transfiguration is only temporary, except for a few exceptions. And if the human body ingests something, only for it to transform back to its original form, it might be disastrous.

Their first task would be transfiguring a matchstick into a metallic needle. Kaiser knew of tips of transfiguration, namely visualization of the end result with its properties, along with the necessary steps, so he succeeded in his first try and was awarded house points, not that he cared for those any way. Next, he tried to add more details to the transfigured needle: engravings, color, shape, length. He found out he was a natural. He had been able to confirm some of the theories of Transfiguration like the mass conservation law, which actually makes sense.

He also tried to be helpful, giving his friends some tips, which they thanked him for. Of course, he wouldn't just go ahead and play the know it all, he knew how that would end up. He only helped when asked.

When the class ended, he asked the professor some of the questions that were plaguing him. For example, why did she forbid them to transfigure anything to air, while the vanishing spell or the Bubble Head charm does exactly that. Or why the Water-Making spell [Aguamenti] could conjure 'drinkable' water.

He ended up learning some interesting things. Oxygen and water, were one of the exceptions to the rule. If done correctly, transfiguring to Water or Air can be permanent. He also found out from her, that the Bubble Head charm is a bit different from transfiguration. It has been tested in a vacuum, and successfully produced air, leading them to believe that the bubble head charm was not a transfiguration spell.

Next session they had Charms with the cheerful professor Flitwick, joined by the Gryffindors. He lectured them about some charm theory, then they got to practice the [Lumos] spell. Kaiser, having already practiced it intensely, didn't have to think twice to succeed. But he wanted to go further with it, so he tried to change the light's color to red. He asked the professor how he could do that, he answered that he must use another spell, or make one for the specific color. Kaiser also wanted to change the propagation direction of the light. The [Lumos] charm's light goes in all directions. If he could control the direction, it could be more useful, especially if he wanted to blind someone with it, not that he was considering such things of course, he was an angel, a crimson haired, red eyed one.

After Charm class, they'd have to wait for the prefects to escort them to the Great Hall again. While waiting he got to speak to Hermione Granger. She approached him a bombarded him with questions, that he took time to answer slowly, trying to break her rapid-fire rhythm. She was actually a nice person, though a bit bossy, but he decided he'd try to fix that after he knew her better. Can't just tell people they're being bossy after all. He also got to see Harry Potter, though he appeared to simply follow Ron wherever he went.

--------------------------

After lunch, they had Potions, a class they weren't looking forward to because of the rumors about the professor, something about him being git?

Daphne Greengrass literally dragged Kaiser to be her partner, because she saw how 'useful' he could be, not that she said such things. Kaiser did want to get to know her better, so he partnered with her.

Then, the drama queen entered the class. With a *thud*, the door opened, and Professor Snape entered the classroom, with his robes fluttering behind him.

"There will be no foolish wand-waving or silly incantations in this class." Said Professor Snape with his trademark sneer. "As such, I don't expect many of you to appreciate the subtle science and exact art that is potion-making. However, for those select few… Who possess, the predisposition… I can teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses. I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory, and even put a stopper in death."

Professor's Snape was surprisingly different from what he had in mind. He thought he'd just tell them the instructions are on the board, then let them do everything else themselves. But he actually started by explaining safety measures, as well as some general potions theory, focusing on the ingredients they'd be using in their concoction. He even demonstrated some basic techniques.

Needless to say, it was a walk in the park for Kaiser, with everything he'd read about Potions. He was giving instructions to Daphne, while occasionally explaining to her a few things. They got an [Exceeds Expectations] for their work at the end of the class.

He greeted Susan and Hannah, and they introduced him to their friends, and him to his. They ended up going to the library together to finish their assignments. The assignment can be summed up in: read a few books, and copy passages from them in different light. Sometimes they ask for different sources.

Kaiser was a great help for them, as he could point them directly to the passage they'd need, saving them a lot of time.

--------------------------

The rest of the week was uneventful. Astronomy was a complete waste of time. Magic theory as well, since Kaiser was already beyond the lecture's level. Defense Against the Dark Arts was… Well suffice it to say it had Quirrell as professor. His stuttering was definitely not helping. Herbology was interesting enough, getting practical experience with magical plants.

History of Magic was a lost cause. Professor Bins read the textbook for the class in a monotone voice that would make ghosts fall to sleep, though he was a technically a ghost himself. 'I'm definitely going to exorcise him one day.' Vowed Kaiser.

Kaiser had a lot of fun at the flying lessons however. Something about flying on a broom was exciting. Though they were old, and their cushioning charms gave out years ago, it was still enjoyable.

The week end was what Kaiser was looking forward to the most. It was his opportunity to go to the Room of Requirement without raising suspicions. He woke up at 9 AM, done his morning magical exercise, took a shower, then went for breakfast.

Afterwards, he climbed directly to the seventh floor, and looked for the tapestry depicting the attempt of Barnabas the Barmy to teach trolls ballet at the left corridor. He stood opposite to it, and did 3 'come and go's, thinking about a place where there is lots of book about magic. After the 3rd try, a door appeared.

He entered to find a large illuminated circular room in bronze and blue colors, engraved with the Ravenclaw sigil. Rows and rows of books was what he saw as far as his eyes could see, with mirrors setup on the ceilings to illuminate the place. It was an amazing sight to behold. A paradise on earth for bookworms.

A huge desk, loaded with empty parchment and ink, sat in the middle, awaiting Kaiser. His twinkling eyes came back in full force. His excitement levels soared to the sky. He approached the desk with shaking legs, unable to believe his eyes. This opens a myriad of new possibilities for him, all while saving him decades of time. Knowledge is a treasure in the wizarding world, as even the most ancient families can't have books speaking about every branch of magic.

It would take him days to take a look around each book, reading the titles. He needed an efficient way to call for the books he'd want to read. But then again, this was the Room of Requirement; all you had to do is ask.

He was thinking about general Magic Theory books, when said books started jumping from the shelves and arranging themselves in front of him. The number was by no means… small. He couldn't decide which he should read. So, he decided to be more specifics, and asked the room for books suitable for his current level in order.

He always focused on Magic Theory, because once you understand it correctly, you're more likely to succeed in your applications. That is why he is doing better than his peers. For example, in transfiguration, most new practitioners would say the magic world, and expect to see the result, matchstick to a needle. But if you took time to read the theory correct, to learn from the mistakes of others before you, you'll have it easier.

A thick, heavy book levitated and placed itself at the desk. Kaiser was shocked when he noticed that the author was Rowena Ravenclaw herself!

'JACKPOT!'

-----------------------------

Kaiser spent the weekend reading about magic theory and some utility spells he found in the library. He was particularly interested in detection spells, for potions, poisons and harmful effects. He knew how dangerous they could be. "The Imperius In Liquid Form" is what he calls them. There are compulsion potions that can reinforce a certain idea, and push you to act towards it. With the necessary conditioning, it can be as effective as an [Imperius]. Then there are love potions, trust or loyalty potions…

He also took some time to read about trolls, just in case. He did find a good way to deal with it, but the spell involved is a difficult one, and demands great precision.

He also tried the occlumency training, but it was a lost cause. In order to repel an intruder, he'd need to first clear his thoughts under that situation, and quickly enough. It still took him some time to clear his mind without any external factors. With them, it only increases the difficulty. So, he'd only practice clearing his mind until he could do better.

Next Monday, as Kaiser sat in the Great Hall for breakfast, he cast 3 revealing spells on his food, while the others were wondering what the hell he was doing. It was a habit he wanted to adopt, so that people wouldn't get offended later on when he does.

"What are you doing?" asked Michael, confused.

"Nothing much, just some black magic so that the food gives me more power." He answered with a grin. He was actually conditioning them. The more people thought that him being a dark wizard is a joke, the better for him.

"No, really, what was that?" Daphne asked suspiciously.

"Potion, poison and harmful effect detection."

"Why would you need to do that? Expecting trouble?"

"CONSTANT VIGILENCE, as Alastor Moody would say."

"Alastor Moody?"

"Famous Auror, dark wizard catcher. They say half the cells in Azkaban are filled thanks to him. Which earned him a lot of enemies, so he'd become a lot stricter about his security, and paranoid. Not that he wasn't paranoid to begin with." Explained Kaiser.

"Aren't you well informed ickle firstie." A pink haired witch, sitting not far from them interjected.

"I just pay attention. And you must be… ah! You are Tonks, the Hufflepuff Metamorphmagus! Did we mention your idol?" He asked, sticking out his tongue.

"Well, yes, I do admire him… I'd like to be an Auror you see…" she said a bit embarrassed.

"Well I'm sure you'd be a great asset to their ranks because of your unique ability." She frowned before he continued. "Not that I'm saying it is your only ability." She smiled at that.

"I thought you were a Metamorphmagus yourself when I first saw you." She told him.

He snorted: "If only. Instead I'm stuck with useless evil features. I thought they'd have some kind of unique power you know, turns out I was very wrong. Poor me."

They all shared a laugh at that, before Tonks tried to encourage him: "Don't worry, I'm sure you'll grow to be quite the lady killer"

"Yeah, lady killer in the literal sense. I'm pretty sure I'd be framed for murder or something. I'm really good scapegoat material, aren't I? The judges won't think twice before sending me to Azkaban." He said jokingly.

------------------------------

Two weeks passed uneventfully, apart from Harry Potter making the Quidditch team despite being a first year. He made sure to drop by at the Gryffindor table and congratulate him politely.

On the 19th of September, as Kaiser entered the Great Hall, he was hit by a bushy haired missile that gave him a bone crushing hug.

"Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!" Hermione was radiating happiness.

"C-can't breathe…"

"Sorry…" She released him. "Thank you for the gift! How did you know it was my birthday?"

"Magic?" he answered cheekily.

She seemed to accept his answer, either because she thought it made sense, or she was too happy to care.

From that day, she considered him her best friend, because he took time to send her an amazing book about Occlumency on her birthday, and because she didn't exactly have other friends. Though their friendship was limited to hushed discussions about magic in the library.

Hallowe'en was a monumental day for the wizarding world. Its significance changed drastically in the last 10 years, as it didn't represent a mere holiday. It represented, at least for the wizards of magical Britain, the end of the reign of terror of "the worst" dark wizards of all time. It represented the day where James and Lily Potter sacrificed their life for the sake of the wizarding world, or, as some people believed, the day Harry Potter done the impossible feat: rebounding the killing curse on its caster while surviving the attack, a legendary feat never done before in all wizard history. The killing curse existed for more than a thousand years, and yet, no one knew of any way to resist it, except by dodging or blocking it with a physical entity. Yet the-boy-who-lived did it, while being a toddler no less.

Harry looked downcast that day. Perhaps for the others, it would call for celebration. For him, however, it only meant the day where his parents died and he was sent to Durskaban.

That day, the Ravenclaws had Charms with the Gryffindors. They'd be learning the Levitation Charm. The events unfolded like the original time-line. Ronald Weasley was waving his wand foolishly, while Hermione did her best to not berate him, until she could hold it no more. She tried to correct him, but Ron was already frustrated with his failure, and didn't want to think some other first year was doing better than him. So, he challenged her to do it since "she was so smart". Needless to say, she succeeded, which only fed his jealousy even more.

Kaiser himself didn't have any trouble with the spell, since he could do it in his sleep, now he was trying to do it silently, but he wasn't finding much success.

When they got out of class, Ron couldn't hold his tongue, and started spitting insults at the muggle born know it all bookworm, and how her attitude was the reason she didn't have any friends. Hermione heard his hurtful comments, and ran away crying. Kaiser wanted to hit him in the face before he finished, but he knew he had to keep the time line intact to some degree, and Harry fighting Voldemort in his first year was very important, but specifically for the time line, but more for his plans. He needed him to confront him.

He still had some time until the Halloween feast, so spent the time on his Occlumency training, trying to clear his thoughts, as he'd need a clear head in the coming fight. It still took him a minute to clear his thoughts, but he wanted to bring that down to a few seconds, before attempting occlumency training in the Room of Requirement, where he'd have to resist actual Legilimency attacks.

He went to the Great Hall when the time for the feast came. The Great Hall was full. Kaiser was a bit late, albeit on purpose. As he entered, he slowly walked towards the Ravenclaw table, all while looking at the first year Gryffindors. He was looking for Hermione Granger. He didn't find her. He sat the Ravenclaw table silently, he didn't greet anyone, he didn't answer his friends calling him, he was thinking how he was going to deal with the problem ahead.

The feast started, but he didn't have the appetite for food. He only drank some juice, and waited. The waiting was the most frustrating part. He knew something bad was about to happen, that there was the possibility of Hermione dying before they even arrived. He didn't want to leave that part to luck, but it was necessary, it's for the greater goo- 'Oh fuck, now I'm thinking like the old fart…'

Suddenly, the door burst open, with a frantic Professor Quirrell running to the head table frantically. "Troll in the dungeon! TROLL IN THE DUNGEON… thought you ought to know." *plop*

Then the crowd went absolutely bananas. There was screaming, for god knows what reason. They were very safe in the great hall, with all the staff, and one of the greatest wizards in the world. And yet they were screaming like there was no tomorrow. Perhaps some were screaming just for the fun of it? They didn't want to feel left out?

"SILENCE. Perfects will escort the students to their common rooms. Slytherin students will go with Ravenclaw students. The professors will come with me to the dungeons."

'Oh shit! This is different from the original time line. Normally, he shouldn't mention the Slytherins… since he'd know where the troll would actually be… that means the danger just got very real…'

While everyone was making their exit from the Great Hall, two Gryffindor students were making their way out. He didn't wait to run behind them. Daphne called for him, asking him what the hell was he doing, but he didn't answer. Hermione was in danger; he couldn't afford to lose time.

He followed them through the corridors and to the girl's bathroom. He arrived a few seconds after the duo. As he entered, he saw the gigantic mountain troll. It was twelve feet tall, clad in poorly crafted animal fur. It had a huge wooden club, probably a tree. His dark grey skin emanated a putrid smell.

Hermione was hidden under the sink screaming. Harry was trying to divert its attention towards him, so that she could escape. Ron was looking dumbly at the troll, unable to think.

Kaiser's hair and eyes were glowing crimson, his face cold and emotionless. He dashed toward a screaming Hermione, grabbing her by the wrist. He dragged her to the entrance. Now all he had to do was deal with a mountain troll, which was easier said than done. He knew he couldn't outrun it, not with his tiny legs, and three deadweights. He had to incapacitate it. Fortunately, he already knew the way to do so.

"Get behind me. Now." He screamed at Harry, who was still trying to dodge the troll's attacks. Harry dashed towards him without even thinking, he couldn't afford to do so, not when his life was hanging by a thread.

The troll was now facing the 4 of them, while Harry was running at their direction. It was too preoccupied with him to notice the wand that was pointed at him.

"Pertundo!"

Kaiser channeled all his magic reserve into that one spell. A fast, yellow beam raced towards the troll's eye. Upon impact, a *CRACK* was heard, before the troll stood still, brains leaking from a hole in his right eye.

Mountain troll skin was very resistant to magical attacks, they either had minimal impact, or were completely reflected. From the book he read, the best way to deal with a Mountain Troll was to attack its weak point: the eyes. A well targeted overpowered Piercing spell was a sure-fire way to kill the beast.

The troll fell to the ground with a loud vibrating *thud*, before Kaiser relaxed. A look at the wooden club had his frowning heavily. His head gears running at full power. 'This is not normal… In the original time line, Ron Weasley was supposed to cast a Levitation spell on the wooden club, but considering its size and weight, there is no way he could levitate it… especially not at the level above the Troll's head…' He thought.

Footsteps were heard outside the bathroom. Professor McGonagall, accompanied by Snape and Quirrell, entered the bathroom and gasped at the sight, before the strict professor turned her attention towards the four students. "Explain yourselves! What are you doing here?"

Kaiser let the scene play, lost in his thoughts, until he heard his name.

"Mr Lunar? Why are you glowing?"

"Um? What?"

"I said why are you glowing, your hair and eyes?"

He tilted his head in confusion. Professor McGonagall conjured a mirror for him to see. He was dumbfounded at the sight. How was he supposed to know why he was glowing? 'Great, now I'm a super Saiyan. But without all the perks. What kind of scam is that? I want a refund.' He thought.

"I don't know professor."

Ronald Weasley was eying him fearfully. Between his recent display of power taking down the troll, his evil features, and his glowing crimson eyes, he was definitely thinking he was some sort of dark lord in the making. Snape and Quirrell were looking at him suspiciously as well.

McGonagall ended up sending the golden trio to their dorms, while escorting Kaiser to the infirmary to get him checked out. But before they arrived, he stopped glowing. She still had him checked out, but Madam Pomfrey said there was nothing wrong with him. So, she concluded it must be some sort of temporary spell.
