Level Up

Ito's POV

Ito wanted to create a systematic way of creating a quest and giving out rewards but the first time he tried he noticed another function.

Like his programming or something he was forced to test Pel's worthiness with the first quest and only then can he issue quests on his own.

Ito had not stopped reading about systems and recently he started a new genre entirely, martial arts which had cultivation systems. Although they could all be classified under cultivation, each of the systems was again unique.

Now though he could narrow down the classification of systems bit by bit. His understanding was still not diverse so he couldn't claim to know the different classifications.

One thing he was sure of though is that he was in neither or probably both which was not very helpful.

Magic is backed by mana while Cultivation is backed by QI, that much he understood but there were questions left unanswered.

The basis of magic is controlling what nature has given, but both sides could have attributes relating to the other. For instance, while the existence of fire elemtalist was known to him, in some of the books there were cultivators with fire element.

But while elementalist value the nature of one ability, cultivators were all about the talent creating a base for fast ascension into the next realm.

Mana and QI are seen as different entities but Ito believed otherwise. One cannot possess abilities without mana so cultivators able to summon different elements must have had mana backing them.

He couldn't find a suitable explanation of what QI was since the understandings of the authors varied. Some saw it as a kind of aura while some believed it to be a cultivator's will. There were too many different theories.

But Ito believed that if he could sense mana then it was also possible to sense QI.

Pel then made his clone disappear and attracted the creature from afar to lure it into the trap, since his stamina was so low he did not stand too far away from the trap.

With his own speed in mind, he waited for the creature to draw near. The creature flew at a moderate pace and the closer it got, Pel's brows furrowed and his concentration reached the max.

The creature that had first flown slowly suddenly became possessed and dashed towards Pel, whose eyes opened wide, displaying his surprise.

"Shoot!" Pel exclaimed before rushing out of the way and pulling a vine and the net appeared, almost catching the creature...but alas almost can sit kill a bird.

He had to go for a plan B and before the creature could get to him, Pel stood up and ran for his life. "Ito!!! I will make us even!"

His mind worked fast again, he had to immobilize this creature. He gritted his teeth and made a drift behind a large tree which gave him some time to create a small distance.

He then made a turn and ran towards the trap again... it's not like he had a choice and the creature was drawing dangerously close.

Beads of sweat formed on his body as he was almost at the trap. 'This body is really useless' he inwardly sighed as he passed the trap and the next second he pulled the vine he used as the initiating sequence.

Although the big saw the trap, after Pel passed it went ahead as well and with most of its attention on Pel, it could not escape in time and was caught but the crude net Pel made.

After seeing that it was stuck, Pel immediately carried the broken branch he had prepared earlier and walked closer.

Starting at the creature, the abdomen looked to be the most disgusting part to him and he pierced it with the broken tip branch but what happened the next moment made him regret his actions.

With slow movements, he turned and glared at Ito before taking a deep breath to retain the last remaining bit of his sanity.

While still covered in hemolymph Pel continued piercing the creature furiously until he heard a notification.

—Congratulations you have leveled up

—Congratulations you...

—Congratulations you...

—Quest has been completed. As reward for your determination, you can pick your skill by spinning the wheel.

"This is basically the same as giving me some random skill" Pel growled.

[...]

"Arrgghhh!!! when did you become so annoying?" Pel was frustrated by Ito's attitude, he was already upset because of the literal mess he was in and now Ito wouldn't answer a simple question.

He channeled his thoughts elsewhere and touched the 'Spin The Wheel' option.

A wheel with different colors having unique skills appeared and the wheel started spinning. After some seconds it stopped and Pel took a deep breath before staring at the sky.

"I did such a dangerous thing and I'm covered in whatever this liquid is...you mean to say my reward is this garbage"

The arrow had stopped at a skill called:

—Rock Punch(Upgradable): This skill enables the user to exact 10X the original force.

[Host can choose to learn now or later]

"This is useless to me now anyway. Let's just check my stats"

—Name: Pel

—Race: Kerki/Human

—Synchronization with human body: 19%

—Level: 3

—MP(Mana Points): ???

—Strength: 3 (+6) —9

—Agility: 7 (+6) —13

—Defence: 2 (+6) —8

—Stamina: 5 (+6) —11

"That's a bit better" Pel sighed.

—Notification: As host has acquired a skill that can be learned with QI, the system has created some special breathing techniques to enable host to enter the realm of cultivation.

"That is so righteous of you" Pel scoffed. He was getting increasingly upset with all these developments.

"Are you alright?" he heard Crista's voice from the side and only then did he remember she was also there.

"It depends on what you mean by fine" Pel replied before turning back to the screen. "What is QI?"

"QI?" Crista asked in surprise.

"Let me guess, you also know what that is?"

Crista shook her head. "Not much, I don't read cultivation novels a lot but QI is what martial artists cultivate"

"I did not understand half of your sentence...you know what I'm not really in the mood to even think about it, lets's just find the mana crystals and get out"

'There has to be another way to level up or at least better creatures that don't cause problems for me even in their death'

Ito led the way while hovering next to Pel and Crista silently followed behind.
