Chapter 1Chapter One : Misguided

At the gates of the capital, it was overwhelming for me to look at from not seeing giant buildings before.

"Woooah, all of this is huge, it is truly amazing to see the Capital." I spoke enthusiastically.

Getting in was easy since guards only searched for weapons on the exception that someone was an adventurer or a hunter trying to sell their hunting spoils, and other legal items, which I didn't need to worry about since I have mostly blacksmithing tools on my person. Inside the capital was foreign to me as well, it was bustling with many people, merchants and the like.

But something I noticed with everyone seemed to catch my eye. Everyone was either sad, depressed, gloomy, or disconnected in a way.

(Why is this, if the Capital itself is pleasant place, why does everyones faces look as though they've been through too much adversity?) I thought quizzically, wholly unaware of the why behind the what.

I shook my head and put those thoughts aside and came to a small error and realization: I hadn't thought about what I would do once I made it to the capital.

(I wonder if there is any blacksmithing shops that are looking for willing, able, ready, and skilled hands)

So began the day looking for a place to work, which to misfortunate couldn't find any willing to hire me. The night was young and I didn't have the money to rent a room, so I was stuck outside... alone... in the dark...where it is very cold... which I didn't prepare for.

"It'll be too cold for me to sleep comfortably, not like I can sleep under a roof for the time being, what would you do in this situation grandfather?" I mused to myself unaware of of the carriage coming by until I heard the hooves of horses clipping and pulling the carriage.

I turn and see the carrige roll along and come to a stop. The carriage door opens and out comes a girl, a blonde girl to be exact.

"Hello there stranger, you look as though you're in need." The girl said with a friendly smile.

"Yes, stating the obvious I have no roof to sleep under and barely have any to buy anything good. Wait why are you talking to me about being in need?"

The girl gave a wide smile, of that of an innocnet child and started,

"Well to start I love helping others in need, with that said I'll let stay at my place, you'll have some warm food and a good place to sleep. Oh and I'm Aria by the way, you?"

"Davis, nice to meet you, and I'll take you up on that offer of yours. Shall we?"

I could notice thw sparkle in her eyes when she went "Yay!!" and proceeded to lead me by the hand to her carriage.

The ride was some time and by the time I was already there I was exhausted, and willing to sleep anywhere; however, I was even more hungry.

"Supper has already been made so come eat with me and family, I'm sure they'll be very happy meeting you."

I had no objection to this and agreed to meet her family and eat with her family as well.

"Mom, and Dad I've brought a new friend over!"

"Really? Well hello there young man I'm Arias' father." I was greeted by elderly man with a mustache and with a friendly smile.

"It is very good timing that we have a guest, that being you, come join us for a well supper."

I feel grateful for this hospitality and kindness of this family,

"I would love to, thank you for you kindness and hospitaltiy I truly haven't encountered any hospitality up until now, so I'm most grateful for this."

I joined Aria and her family for supper which was amazing.

"Again thank you, all of you for your kindness and hospitality, I hope it isn't too much to ask; but, may I stay here?, Only for the night, then I'll be out tomorrow."

"Of course young Davis stay here awhile and enjoy your time here." the father responded.

Davis : "Ah thank you aga- whoa, oh man why..does?"

My head felt heavy and the only question I had in my mind was of Aria. Only then I could faintly hear words about a shed.

Lord Raven's Court

In the year 556 of the Runtallian Calendar, a war broke out in the eastern frontier of the Kingdom of Runtallia between the eastern overlord, Duke Gaverone Walruse of Regalia, and the barbarian chief-thane known as Dariun Drunzelle of the Shiradonii tribe, one of the Four Great Tribes of Norsmund, a nation that borders the Kingdom, deemed to be the land of brutes and savages. As the Duke of Regalia marches with his army to defend the disputed land of Kurlon, the barbarians have taken such an opportune moment to launch another incursion near the eastern border of Regalia near the town of Flendle, with the intention of dividing his army. However, despite accepting the town and the surrounding local lords' territories as lost cause in the war in favor of Kurlon– a newly discovered territory bountiful with veins of iron and other minerals– the Duke tasks his third son, Lord Velmund Walruse, along with his retinue, the Order of the Raven Knights, to fend off the attack. Now faced with the plight of defending the border town against a 5,000-strong Norsmundi army with his few yet skilled knights, along with an ill-equipped and undermanned militia, Lord Velmund has no choice but to fulfill his duty as a noble, relying upon his wits and his few but capable retainers to survive his first battle at the tender age of sixteen summers and winters. Contrary to his timid, youthful, and innocent appearance, however, lies his sly and scheming nature, evident by his fondness of dark magical arts specializing in illusion spells. Nevertheless, he himself has no idea of what he is capable of, and what he is destined to become. Meanwhile, further east at the frontier with Norsmund, a plot hatches to ensnare the Duke within the clutches of his treacherous vassals. Not only his life is threatened by these schemes, but his sons Theo and Varus as well. With this scheme put into motion, the Duke and Velmund's siblings, Varus and Theo, would taste fate's twisted humor, with the former meeting his demise in a blaze of glory amidst the field of battle, and the latter two vanishing in incidents shrouded by mysteries. With the death of the patriarch of Regalia and his heirs' disappearance, the young lord who was initially third in line for the succession of the ducal seat became its temporary occupant. And thus, the tale of him and his court begins… CHAPTER RELEASE: January 1st at 12:00 UTC

The God of Calamity’s Wife: before the beginning book 1

caution: violent scenes and child endangerment- this is a post war world set in Norse mythology and the world is on the brink of war again- Centuries ago, war shattered Asgard. Tired of living in the shadow of the Aesir, Loki and his creatures of chaos sought the respect they believed was their due. Their rebellion, however, brought only death, exile, and the fleeting victory of the Aesir. But gods cannot die forever, and Loki’s defeat came with a prophecy: the war would come again, and next time, he would be ready. Many began to question whether Odin was truly fit to rule the realms. (But that was not my concern. I am an entity of death, a Fylgia bound to the cycles of life and fate. My interest lies elsewhere—with two souls cursed by Odin to live, die, and repeat their lonely existence for eternity. Sirius and Saoirse. For centuries, I’ve watched them endure lives destined for isolation and suffering. I’ve grown tired of their pain. What if they didn’t have to be alone? What if I could give them a chance to defy fate? And, perhaps, what if I could become part of the story that I’ve shaped? These were my thoughts leading up to the beginning of this story. But meddling with destiny has consequences. I probably should have paid more attention to that war, because what I didn’t realize was, by changing one thing, a ripple would expand across the realms that nobody could have anticipated.) Sirius and Saoirse, they weren’t just any Vampire and Werewolf that could have been brought together. They are creatures that must come to terms with the demon beasts inside of them or bringing them together might just end up finishing what Loki’s children had started. The problem is, all they want is a legacy. author note: This story builds a bit slower at the beginning and then picks up more action when they get to Asgard, so don’t worry, this book will have 500 chapters and this is just the beginning!
