"Wake up brother." A sweet voice resounded through the room as the sun shone bright, glimmering the whole room in bright light.

"I need to sleep some more." A lethargic boy laid on the bed, reluctant to move. he continued to be wrapped under the sheets and doze off.

The girl pouted in a cute, jumped up, and smacked the boy directly in his gut, making him arch upwards and coughing out large amounts of saliva. The boy's eyes were fully opened as he painfully looked at the girl who forced him to wake up.

"You will kill me someday." He said, rubbing the girl's head.

"It's time for the academy. We won't be having our breakfast at home. Let's eat something in the cafeteria. We need to prepare for the awakening ceremony."

"Can't I sleep for some more time and then we can go to the academy." The boy was feeling tired from his late-night job. The girl looked up at her brother's face with sadness. She knew her brother was working extremely hard to make ends meet.

"I am just kidding you, little girl. Let's get ready." The boy forced a smile on his face, lifted his body, and rushed towards the bathroom. He washed himself up and got ready for the academy. The academy was responsible for training potential hunters and we were one of them.

My awakening ceremony was drawing near and I had to prepare myself for it. I trained for it day and night, trying to achieve the best possible rank to qualify as a Hunter and take care of my sister.

I am Leon Williams and the girl was my sister Mia. In the current world of hunters and dungeons, we once had a well-fed family. By the fortune of fate, both of our parents were accomplished hunters who managed to awaken as a first-generation. They were Frank and Lily Williams.

The first generation referred to the hunters who managed to awaken within the first year of the dungeon attacks. They were the first generation to have come across the mutation of the new kind of energy which spewed into the earth's environment.

The first generation was not only known to be the saviors of the planet but were also the ones who had gained super-human ability the fastest. They were the prime hunters who started to undertake huge operations of infiltrating into the dungeons.,

Every single bit of research into the power of monsters, their composition, the dungeons, the mutation carried out, the hunter specialties, even the awakening were discovered by these people. Our parents were one of those.

By the end of the first year, hunters began to actively grade and experiment with the supernatural abilities of hunters. The Hunter bureau came into existence and so did many guilds. Hunters began to gather up to take care of their own interests and earn more money while growing their power and influence.

Our parents were also the founding group of one of the top guilds in the world, named Courageous Dragons. Hunters flocked together, clearing dungeons and collecting resources and artifacts.

Our father and mother came into contact in one such operation and fell in love. They decided to take on a mission together, clearing dungeons, and actively becoming stronger. It was rumored that my father was even offered the position of guild master at the time.

He was one of the top S-rank hunters along my mother said to be a top A rank, but many suspected that she intentionally hid her strength. The Courageous Dragon started as a small team of ten people, which then grew into a mammoth guild that dominated the hunting scenario in the once known continent of Asia.

Our parents decided to start a family after their 100th dungeon capture as a couple. Soon after the wedding ceremony, I was born into the William family. My mother decided to retire from the hunting job temporarily to take care of her family. She wanted some time away from all the bloodshed.

Soon enough my sister came around and my mom's retirement was permanent. She and her father had amassed a huge fortune and she still held a large stake in the Courageous Dragon guild. My father was actively hunting in the dungeons.

Money was flowing in at a fast pace and our family could be said to be one of the powerful ones. We weren't as resourceful as the huge lineage ones, but we were rich and powerful. Most of all we had all the happiness in the world.

But we all know that happiness will never last forever. The dungeons were becoming playgrounds for hunters, but it was still a huge mystery. It was the first time in history that a horrific incident took place.

One of the portals within the country suddenly busted out and a monster came rushing out of it. It was something which would later be termed 'Dungeon Break'. Monster madly came rushing out in the middle of the city and destroyed the area around. A huge number of casualties were being reported and a guild near the site was requested to respond to the scenario.

Unfortunately, Courageous Dragons were the first to do so, and my father was tasked with maintaining the frontline. He rushed out and began to hunt the monster down. This phenomenon was new to all the world and they didn't know the way to control it.

Monsters were continuously pouring out and the hunter's energy was limited., He decided to lead a team into the dungeon. They went in and soon enough the situation began to look good. The monsters began to lessen in number but the army which went in wasn't coming out.

To the shock of every hunter, the spatial crack which had been opened for such a long time, suddenly closed up, while trapping the team which went in it. All communication broke up and they couldn't be found. The dungeon boss must have been killed by the team, but why didn't they manage to exit it?

The news arrived late at night. I could hear my mother crying out loud, but the situation was out of my control. My mother who was immersed in sorrow changed completely after the incident. She became strict and distant from us.

Her nature took a cruel turn as she began to personally train me. My body wasn't well developed by then, but she didn't give any leeway. She continued the brutal training with me screaming in pain day in and day out.

I grew old and she became insane with time. She undertook her last position as one of the board members in the Courageous Dragons and began to mercilessly clear dungeons. Courageous Dragons had never seen such a fast pace of killing monsters and clearing dungeons for a long time. A single hunter was wiping out hordes of demons.

She would return from her missions, check on my progress, beat me mercilessly, and give me more training targets to achieve. My threshold of pain soon increased and I began to lose my emotions, living in this hell.

MY only source of happiness was the dear sister who was beside me, laughing at my face. She was coming of age and I couldn't let her bear the same fate as me. So I formulated my master plan. There was still a long time until the awakening ceremony, and I decided to steal and amass all the cash and goods we had lying around.

I waited for another visit from my mother and underwent another round of torture before she left for another mission. I took my sister with me and ran away.
