The ancient gods underwent three trials and seven calamities, akin to the Five Declines of Man faced by cultivators. They all represented a sword of Damocles hanging over their heads. A single slash, if survived, would significantly increase one's cultivation level; if failed, however, would lead to the annihilation of both body and spirit.
The first trial entailed two calamities, the second trial another two calamities, and the third trial comprised three calamities!
The ancient god's calamity was far stranger than the Five Declines of Man. According to Tu Si's memories, the stronger an ancient god was, the slower the calamity would approach. Although the calamity began at six stars, some ancient gods didn't face their first calamity until they reached seven stars.
