Chapter 1Alpha’ Trios

The cafeteria was bustling and filled with the sounds of students. While some struggled in line to get served, others were fully seated, munching on their lunches and talking about random stuff.

Jason, the school clown, stood in the middle of the filled cafeteria, making random jokes with silly dance moves. Funny... but not so funny.

I sat far behind with my bestie Matilda as we ate and talked about a Blackpink concert. We've been Blinks for years but had never once attended any of their concerts, mainly because we couldn't afford it.

"Jennie's outfit was just the best, and her dance moves," Matilda signed, gushing over a video of one of Blackpink's latest performances. "It's like everything goes in her favor."

"I love Rose's outfit better," I added. "She's just so underrated—her vocals, her dance, and stage presence. Everything about her screams perfection." Matilda nodded in agreement, her mouth full.

"You know, I really wish we could go to their upcoming concert in Chicago. It's like a four-hour plane ride from California."

"If only we had the money," I chuckled, playfully bringing Matilda back to our harsh financial reality as her daydreams carried her away.

She shot me a knowing look, rolling her eyes before refocusing on her phone screen.

Suddenly, the cafeteria erupted into a rare kind of murmur—one that demanded attention. The murmurs grew more audible, accompanied by low, faint screams. I looked up in their direction and, to my 'not really' surprise, my eyes fell on the trio that commanded attention wherever they went.

I'm not going to lie, I also couldn't help but feel a mixture of awe and curiosity as I observed the boys. It's something I fail to admit.

They were smoking hot.

On either side were the twins, their presence impossible to ignore, with their tall, athletic frames and tousled locks.

The first twin, Ethan, possessed a vibrant energy that was impossible to contain. His hazel eyes sparkled with an irreverent twinkle, always ready to unleash a playful joke. His sandy blonde hair, styled with an effortless messy appearance, added to his boyish charm. His contagious laughter echoed through the cafeteria.

On the right stood his twin, Owen, whose demeanor was more understated but equally captivating. His piercing ocean blue eyes seemed to hold hidden depths. His thoughtful expression suggested a quiet and observant nature. Unlike Ethan's wild hair, Owen's dark hair were carefully styled, giving him a more polished look. He exuded a calm and composed aura. Although they were identical twins, their personalities set them apart.

And finally, at the center was none other than Jake himself, the heart of the group. Tall and confident, he carried himself with ease and charisma. His warm brown eyes sparkled with a mixture of charm. His tousled, dark brown hair framed his face, giving him a slightly rugged yet polished look. A smirk played on his lips, hinting at mischief.

They were a group that had every girl in the school dreaming and longing for their attention. They called themselves "The Alpha Trios."

I know, sounds cheeky, right?

I guess they aren't as smart up there as they are attractive.

Conversations hushed, and heads turned as they walked in. Just when you think things couldn't get any better, Samantha walked towards them. Jake, to be specific.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and planted a quick peck on his lips.

"Hey, boo-boo bear," she cooed, her voice dripping with forced sweetness that grated on my ears. Her voice was annoyingly high-pitched and nasal, as if she was pretending to be cute and endearing. She stretched out each word, adding an overly breathy and exaggerated tone that felt artificial. Poor Jake.

I scrunched my face in disgust. I couldn't bear the sight anymore. I looked away, my gaze returning back to Matilda, who was now drooling in awe, with her chin resting on her arms.

"She's so lucky," she murmured, her voice filled with envy.

"You wish…" I slurred, taking a huge bite of my sandwich.

"What do you mean? They look so cute together," she said, her gaze still fixed in their direction.

"All I see are two popular individuals trying to get even more popular. No love."

"That's what you think," Matilda answered, her gaze now fixed on me.

"I thought Jake left the country just two days ago?" I asked, trying my best not to turn around. Anything was better than watching those two make out.

"Yes, he did and came back yesterday."

I stared at Matilda, dumbfounded, imagining having that much money that you can travel back and forth out of the country as many times as you want.

"When you have that much money, literally anything is possible. That's why they are spoilt brats; they feel the world revolves around them," I spat out.

Matilda shot me the look once again. "What's your problem?" she said. "Being born wealthy doesn't necessarily equate to being spoilt brats," she tried to convince me.

"You sure about that?" I asked her, raising my brow. "Now tell me, what does breaking rules without getting in trouble, dating different girls and breaking their hearts, and spending money unnecessarily mean if not spoilt brats?" My statement left her speechless.

I chuckled, packing my now empty food tray. "Come on, let's go to class," she stood up and started arranging her things. We both disposed of our waste and walked out of the cafeteria. Just as I made it past the exit, my gaze fell back on Jake and Samantha sitting close to each other, Jake's hand around her neck as she fed him.

Maybe they don't look that bad together. I held my gaze for a few seconds and shook my head.
